EUROPEAN Reacts to the Night BIN LADEN Was KILLED (EMOTIONAL)
On May 1, 2011, during a Sunday night baseball game, an extraordinary announcement stopped Americans in their tracks. News broke that a covert operation by U.S. Navy SEALs had successfully killed Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan. President Obama confirmed the news, bringing a sense of closure to many. The nation erupted in spontaneous celebrations, with crowds gathering outside the White House and in Times Square, turning an ordinary night into a historic moment of unity and relief.

I'm American so my heart beat faster and was filled with pride watching this video. I didn't know anything about the game and it's unfolding drama. Thanks so much for airing this.
I'm a 70 year old man from PA. I feel equally passionate about a number of goverment atrocities but when we're on the side of right that's when the American, freedom loving spirit kicks in like the crowd at the game. One thing about most Americans is do not ever threaten our freedom. We are freedom loving people and we treasure it more than anything.
An invasion by foreign forces would be beaten down by all the gun owners, including gang members, the American spirit would be almost impossible to beat on our own soil.

Remember that 2 planes hit the towers in New York, where the Mets are, and one plane was crashed in Pennsylvania, where the Phillies are. It had a very special meaning to both states.
By the way, in baseball one team bats for 3 outs. Then the other team bats for 3 outs. That is one inning. There are typically 9 innings in a game but it can't end in a tie so you keep playing until it is won. That night it took 12 innings to win.

I grew up in in the North Bay, so I was an A's fan, because my dad was. By the time I really got into baseball I was living down in L.A. and it just so happened to be during the Dodgers' best years. A friend's friend had season tickets, so I had the opportunity to go to a bunch of games during the '88 season. Kirk Gibson and Steve Sax are still my favorite players.

I don’t know if anyone else said it, but the whole thing was less about celebrating the death of a person than it was a national catharsis knowing that an evil person was made to account for what they had done.

"Inn- ing" a baseball game is usuall 9 innings which consistes of each team having their time at bat. If the game is tied at the end of the 9th inning you keep playing complete innings until 1 team wins... in May, 1920 they played a 26 inning game...the record to date.

There has to be poetic justice involved in the time period of when it was announced of Bin Laden's demise. Let me explain, on Sep 11, the events took place in the morning, seeing as NYC, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania are one the East Coast, every American with the exception of Hawaii was starting their day when the events happened. We had to go through a whole day traumatized what we witnessed, truly fearful of any other possible misplacement, only to wake up in a daze the next day hoping that what we witnessed was a nightmare and was devastated waking up the next day to realize that it did happen and we had to accept it. I was a kid at the time, was very confused how much there were people who hated us Americans that much that it exposed our naive mindset that the world liked Americans. Honestly it's been non stop in exposing how many foreigners hated us that it's now become a thing that even those we thought were allies were joining in. Yet the funny thing about everyone's perspective about 9/11 is that we Americans had to go through a whole day traumatized with vain hope it was a nightmare.
So when we got the news about Bin Ladin's death, whose been responsible for traumatizing our nation, we were getting ready for bed and preparing for the next week as it was a Sunday. It was one of the first nights I think many of us felt some relief that at least one of our tormentors is now gone, the influence he had ended up dying with him too, and we finally had one bit of justice. It won't take back the pain and the loss we went through, likely sparked an identity crisis in many Americans, but many of us could feel some peace knowing that at least Bin Laden and his power is gone from hurting any more people.
In the end, it proved as a testament to the resilience we Americans sometimes unknowingly find ourselves to have, in this case, we never give up in pursuit of justice. It might not come right away, but after 10 years we finally had one dangerous terrorists we don't have to worry about and was able make an example to any other potential threats that we will abide the time it takes to take our enemies down.

An inning in baseball is a period of play. So in an inning both teams alternate between playing defense (the people you see on the field) and offense (the players at bat or on the bases). To score a player at bat has to hit the ball and run to a base before the ball returns to the pitcher. They need to run all 4 bases before a "run" can be scored. Also players trying to score runs cannot be touched by a player with the baseball or be caught off a base once the baseball returns to the pitcher or you are out. That's as simple as I could make it. I hope it's not too confusing for people unfamiliar with the game. On a non baseball related note it is indeed unusual that the President of the United States (POTUS) calls a press conference out of nowhere.

For the question you're asking about innings. That is like having half-times or intermission in games. In baseball, each time the home team vs. the visiting team has time to take the field. It was one of the most amazing game at that time.

If you need someone to explain baseball I got you.
Edit: To explain innings, in baseball, teams take turns being on offense (batting) or defense (fielding). When a team is batting, they keep sending players up to bat until the fielding team gets 3 outs (which can be the result of a batter getting three strikes, a fielder catching a batted ball, a runner being tagged with the ball, or (under certain circumstances) a fielder in possession of the ball touching the base the runner is running to before the runner). An inning is the period during which each team has one turn batting and one turn fielding. Normally, a baseball game has 9 innings, but if the game is tied after 9 innings, additional innings are added until, at the end of an inning, the scores are no longer tied.

For those that did not know here you go...
What are some other acronyms like POTUS?
The oldest -OTUS ("of the United States") acronym is SCOTUS ("Supreme Court of the United States"), in use since the 1870s. POTUS ("President of the United States") is the second oldest, coming some twenty years after SCOTUS. FLOTUS ("First Lady of the United States") is another, thought to have originated in the 1980s. Less common than these, but still occasionally found, is VPOTUS ("Vice President of the United States").
    Is POTUS always capitalized?
The most common form of the word is POTUS, although it is also found as Potus. Less common, and formerly used more frequently in the early 20th century, is potus.
What is the origin of the word POTUS?
POTUS is an acronym created by taking the first letter of each word in "President of the United States." According to our earliest records of its use, it came into being in the 1890s as an abbreviation used by telegraph operators. POTUS was likely based on the slightly older SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States), which had been used by telegraph operators since the 1870s.

Don't forget there was a bit of an uproar because Prince William married Katherine Middleton on 4/29, just a few days before bin Laden. The uproar was because the US Prez didn't attend the wedding of their most powerful allies. But I'm willing to bet money, the Queen knew about it.
As for the fan rivalry, it's there, it's real, it's a GUY TYPE HOBBY 😂. No idea but it happen everywhere men gather for sports. Maybe it's an American thing but I think all guys do it.
I'll bet money on this, if these bitter rivals gather and are all as one threatened. You can bet the in fighting will stop and your faced with twice as many of than you counted on. Americans will always go that extra mile, we know no other way

Bin Laden was somewhat of a boogeyman for many Americans, myself included. I was 6yo when 9/11 happened, growing up in a military family, I spent most of my childhood hoping my father would make it back home safely. When the news of Bin Laden's death popped up on my tv, it was like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. What I felt that night is hard to put into words, relief and joy, sadness too, because I can't help but think about 9/11 and all the people that died both that day and since then, but relief and joy is really the best I can do to name it. There was also a sense of shared identity and pride, watching the reports of people taking to the streets in state capitals in the middle of the night, singing, dancing, chanting and coming together to celebrate. I literally couldn't sleep that night because of all the emotions.

Hello My European Friend 👋 I'm Giving You The Basic Rules of Baseball 👌 You Play 9 Scheduled Inning's, Each Inning Consist of a Top & a Bottom of The Inning, The Visiting Team Bats 1st Which Is The Top of The 1st Inning, The Objective Is To Score as Many Runs Before Your Team Makes 3 Outs, But Once You Do, Then The Home Team Comes In From Playing Defense To Now Bat at The Bottom of The 1st Inning, Trying To Score as Many Runs Just Like Their Opponent Did, So Once You've Played 9 Innings Which Ends at The Bottom of The 9th Inning After 3 Outs, Whichever Team With The Most Runs/Scores Wins, But If Both Teams are Tied at The End of 9 Innings, The Game Continues With Extra Innings Until 1 Team Has The Most Runs/Score After The Bottom of Whatever Innings It Takes, Example After Teams are Tied After The Bottom of The 9th, Then It To Goes To The 10th Inning & On & On & On If It's Necessary Until A Team Wins, Remember The Visiting Team Bats In The Top of Every Inning, Then Plays Defense at The Bottom Inning, & The Home Team Plays Defense In The Top Inning & Bat In The Bottom Inning, Now If The Batter Hits The Ball & Makes It To 1st Base Before The Ball Does, That's a Single, But If The Batter Makes It 2nd Base That's a Double & If The Batter Makes It To 3rd Base That's a Triple (That Means All Before The Ball Does) & If The Batter Hits The Ball Out of The Ball Park Within The Foul Lines That's a Home Run👌Now 3 Strives The Batter Is Out, But If The Pitcher Throws 4 Balls Outside The Strike Zone Without The Batter Fouling Them Off, Before The Umpire Call 3 Strikes, Then That's a Walk (Meaning The Batter Gets a Free Pass To 1st Base) & If The Batter Is Hit By The Pitch That's Also a Free Pass To 1st, Now While a Runner Is On Base, He Can Try To Steal The Next Base (That's Beating The Catcher or Another Defensive Player'
s Throw To Whichever Base He Was Stealing/Running To, But When Stealing a Base The Baseman Must Tag The Stealer With The Ball Before He Touch The Base, To Be Called Out & With a Home Run Every Batter That's On Base Scores Along With The Hitter(That's a Grand Slam) Each Time A Player Goes Around The Bases & Cross Home Plate Before Being Tagged With The Ball, Is 1 Point 👌 Now That's The Basics & It's a Great Sport To Watch, That's Why It's Called "America's Pass Time" 👌

My grandma is super political and HATED Obama, so we were super confused, but we turned it on just as Obama started walking down the hall to make his speech. I remember watching this game cus it was the only one being broadcast that day & nothing else was going on which was weird so that was the only place that so many people were gathered at one place & so many people were watching at home but that's the reason why this game is so significant to this event plus Philadelphia & New York are both are very historically important to America & baseball is America's favorite pasttime which made it even more special & emotional for everyone....you should definitely react to baseball videos....there's some really good videos that explain baseball

Inning not winning. An inning is each team gets 3 outs = top of the inning one team at bat until they get 3 outs. 2nd team goes to bat, bottom of the inning. Once they get 3 outs the inning is over.

Idk who this guy is, but it was a pleasure to watch him watching this. I'm 8-10 miles from the city, and I can never erase that day, or the weeks that followed. My sister and I went to the closest hospital that can handle mass trauma victims, to donate blood. It was the least we could do to help. There was a line of people in front of us wanting to do the same. 1 by 1, we were tuned away bc, as the nurse said...,"there wasn't many walking victims ", meaning....those in bad shape just didn't make it. They took our names and numbers in the event blood supplies ran short.....but we never got a call for it.
We went to the roof of the parking garage...and just stared at the clud of dust across the Hudson River. We didn't speak..we didn't have to. We were devastated at the sight, knowing the beautiful skyline we loved so much had been forever changed. In the days that followed- the "burbs" of NYC that we lived in, were eerily quiet. After a couple of days, we started noticing gray/black pieces raining down on ours and surrounding towns. It was particles of the towers. It was truly the darkest day in our country that I'd ever k😊😢🎉❤nown.

It only took 9/11 happening for us to be able to come together... So... I don't. (Yes, this celebration was the assasination of the orchestrator of that event, but it still took the happening of 9/11.) Not even natural disasters can unite us these days. They can band together a community -even a whole statewide community, but it barely passes those boarders.

It's a sports thing...NYC has the same animosity with Boston. However on 9/11 I think all the fire.departments in Philly and their EMTS.got on their trucks without a second thought. When the Boston Marathon had a bombs explode during the race, police officers started driving up in their own cars...police.force left, investigators state amd.federal drkpped.what they were doing and ran. Boston is a four hour drive lights and sirens they made it in less than three. Police in the towns blocked off the left lane to let the first.responders through. It's not just with Philadelphia or.Boston...we will drive.if they're close.and fly if they're not. Most times airlines will supply planes at no charge to shuttle first responders where help is needed.

There's 9 innings in a game. There's the top of the inning, and the bottom of the inning, at the top, one team bats, after 3 outs, the bottom starts and the other team gets to bat. It'll go over 9 if it's tied.

In Baseball 1 "Inning" is kind of like a "Round". Both teams have an opportunity to pitch and bat. The team at bat tries to score runs by going around the bases and the team pitching tries to get 3 strikeouts by throwing 3 Strikes at bat or getting them out when they hit the ball and have to run around the bases. When the pitching team gets those 3 strikeouts, the teams switch positions. Once both teams get a chance to be at bat or pitch, that counts as 1 Inning. If you've ever heard the "top of the 9th inning" or something, that's the beginning of the Inning before they switch positions, then the "bottom of the 9th" would be after they switch positions. Also, generally games have 9 Innings but as you saw in this video, it can go to 10 if the teams are tied in score.

the inning is significant because, if the phillies didnt tie the game at 1-1 the mets win in the 9th inning and this moment doesnt happen. the game would have been over and the viewers at home turn the game off.

I used to attend baseball games weekly as a kid. My parents bought season tickets, the seats weren’t great but I just wanted to watch the game from wherever I could.
