    Thank you for your videos, I greatly enjoy watching and appreciate your manner and good humor, love your jokes and the way you tell them!
    I’m into my fourth year as a beekeeper in Sweden, 70 miles west of Stockholm and had lost one of my eight hives this winter in February when I checked.
    I have been following your advice in cleaning it out. Temperatures of -4F in January would do as a freeze I guess?
    Hope your doing fine and will be posting some more this spring!
    All the best

    Great to see you back Tim. Here in Ireland I lost a hive or two this winter.I cleared one out a couple of weeks back.The weather hasn't really warmed up enough to get into the remaining hives properly , but hopefully they'll be okay. i had such a problem with wasps attacking growing hives that I'm at a loss as to what to do to stop them .when they start attacking a hive they are relentless killers and i've tried all kinds o tricks to stop them.It means that if I get started with a brand new queen , by the time she is really getting going laying, it's time for the wasps to attack.

    Thank you Mr. Durham for your insightful wisdom. As a first year bee keeper, it was a blessing to come across your videos. I sure love your humour and infectious personality. What breath of fresh air you are.
    🥵Two weeks of insanely HOT weather summer 2021 & 🥶 two weeks of insanely COLD weather in December 2021. Hive 1 swarmed in the summer, and I added what was left to hive 2 but just lost them all. This has been a learning curb to be sure and your video's a HUGE help.
    God Bless you and yours. 🧡🌷🐝BC, Canada

    Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I went on a long vacation and came back to my first deadouts. My bees seemed to be doing so good, was their second year with me, not sure what happened with some of my hives. Thought we’d had a pretty good spring and summer.
    Because I was gone a while some of the wax in one of the deadouts must have sat longer than the two others and it was riddled with moth worm tracks. I’m freezing the frames but was wondering if the bees would clean that up. And I see from the comments they will. Sure appreciate you man! Thanks! I guess I’ll try a split next spring if my other hives make it. Otherwise it’ll be back to square one. 😔

    Do I need to scrape my frames to before I put new bees in

  • @Help-rx1zq

    I have a 2 deep hive, over wintered, WIS, top deep is full of honey- on the both hives- this was my 3rd yr- I'm thinking the Mites got me- it was that or I tried that Apavar and it killed my queen, just a guess-
    I've been treating with Formic Pro and seemed to work- the past 3 yrs, no issues, last yr I tried the Apavar and killed both hives, maybe - Anyway my question is , in a couple months I'll need to get a couple package bees, but the top boxes are full of honey- like every frame 40-50 lbs , 10 framers, what would you recommend me do with the top full boxes once I clean the bottom brood boxes out? and get ready for the new package of bees- my guess is, put bees in the Bottom box, once everything settles down, put the top deep on but only use 2-3 frames of honey on the outside and leave the middle with open comb

    • @WallsBeeMan
      @WallsBeeMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First time I've had that question. I'm continually amazed from time to time frames the bees clean up perfect and I thought there is now way. Hive beetle larvae cause the slim. Yes, the bees will take care of the slim.
      Two of three things here. Let's say you take two slimy frames out of a weak hive and put them in a strong Hive and they will clean it up. If you can, put those frames in a freezer then into a strong hive.

    Hi Tim - when cleaning a dead hive, is there a need to clean the old brood and/or wax from the frames? Sometimes there will be dead bees or bugs or old pollen/honey in the cells and I am never sure quite what to do about that. Been watching your videos for a long time, really enjoy them!

    Hi Tim.
    I'm getting into bees this year and bought some boxes from a local guy. His hives were killed by moths so I cleaned all the comb out. I get my bees next month. is there anything I need to do to these boxes? there is no comb left and no remnants of wax worms left in the box. I just want to make sure my investment stays put.

    • @WallsBeeMan
      @WallsBeeMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Moths or wax warms to not kill bees. Moths move in after something else killed them
      I used to boil my frames and bodies in Lye water but the chances you have foul brood in the equipment is slim

    Thanks for sharing! Good luck this year with the bees!
    Looking forward to your thoughts on splitting. I'm going into this year with a very healthy hive, so I anticipate that it will swarm. I'm going to need a battle plan I imagine. Can you cover a couple different ways of going about splitting? Are there ways that are easier on the bees? More natural to their reproductive desires?
    Happy beekeeping!

    • @WallsBeeMan
      @WallsBeeMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the most natural is when you see Queen cells in your hive, you must split it 2 or 3 or even 4 ways depending if there are enough bees. You want each split to have enough bees to cover say about 3 frames. Beekeepers think they can cut our the queen cells to keep them from swarming and it is so easy to miss just one starter queen cell.......

    Can I put frames that have been sitting outside for a year in the weather, and have wax moth damage in an older bee hive? I don't have a freezer that will hold frames.

    • @WallsBeeMan
      @WallsBeeMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Golly. I don't know what the condition of the combs are but I'm thinking they are too bad condition.
      It is not worth it. We want good combs. As far as moths being in the hive, don'
      t worry about that. Scrap it and clean it out and use it. We want good square and not crooked frames with good combs.

    Your bee videos are the most enjoyable of all I watch. I am a brand new beekeeper, and I am expecting my first package of bees in about a month. I've seen your video where you spray the bees in the package so they will not fly as you shake them into the hive. I ordered a bottle of Honey B Healthy, which you add to the spray, I assume to label directions. My question is, how much sugar do you add to the water to make this spray? Half sugar, half water? Or do you make it much weaker? Thank you for your great videos.

    • @WallsBeeMan
      @WallsBeeMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me clear a little. On package bees, maybe just small amount of sugar in the water. The Ratio won't matter much.
      Shacking is OK but consider doing this. Attach the queen cage to the top of a top bar and shack a small amount of bees onto the queen. Please the package in the hive where you took out about 5 frame and the bees will come out. You won't have as many flying this way.

      If the dead bees are dry, you can bump the frame and get some to fall out but do not damage the comb. NO, do not worry about the dead bees in the cells. Scrape the burr comb & propolis off and you will be shocked how fast the bees clean that up
