I like it and think it would go great in my new 29 gallons, but I am so new to the hobby I don't know what I need with it, like is it a filter or some adapter?
I like it.. the skimmer head is much smaller than the conventional glass skimmer.. I have also seen lily heads that can be attached to reduce the flow a little bit and it will look cleaner perhaps.. but yes that reliver is a bit bulky
Thanks a million for this video. I for the life of me couldn't figure out why the surface skimmer was sucking so much water but as your video pointed out all it took was a simple twist of that little tube that goes up to the skimmer and now it's at the purfect skimming setting! Thank you thank you
I have always used an air pump to clear surface scum in fish based aquariums (and been 100% pro it) In setting up my first aquascape, I brought a metal Lilly pipe with a skimmer - it works so well, it’s a wonder they are not more widely used
Finally someone who shows the Neo Flow Premium working. Mine is on the way. I just grabbed one from Green Aqua, very quickly. Next day, was already out of stock. Merci pour la vidéo. Cheers pal!
I've used a 'poppy' lily pipe (glass) and it makes enough agitation along the surface to prevent bio film and does not requiring adjusting/fine tuning. This is on a 9 gallon tank. I think there may be some trade off on circulation deeper within the tank but my little nano fish are happy as is :)
Skimmers are meant to be on the inlet. I'm not sure when or why people started putting them on outflows. Putting it on the outflow just moves the film around, pushing it to the edges so it sticks to the glass and causes a buildup.
I've been using the original one for a while now myself. Over time the clarity of the pipes has faded and become more milky. Have you had a similar issue, and if so, do you know of a solution to prevent it? Thanks for your videos!
I've used this skimmer now for many months and it sometimes works well for a week and then needs 'adjusting' but other times I spend way too long fussing with it to make it work and not sink :( It's worked the best with the diffuser but I've decided for my 9 gallon tank it's just too much of an eyesore. So I am back to fussing with it .... and hoping I will find the sweet spot.
This was my expierience also. I just ended up giving up. I noticed as my filter got clogged more and more, the change in outflow would make me adjust the skimmer constantly. It was almost every other day I was trying to fine tune it.
I have been watching some of your older content as I am a fairly new subscriber and I saw this and purchaed the Neoflow Premium. So far I love it. The reliever works great and the clear tubing is almost invisible and sturdy. Good choice. thanks. Paul T.
I think there's a huge lack of options for surface skimming in nano tanks particularly. I got an Oase skimmer 350 and I like it a lot but it's way too powerful and turns my tank into a sandstorm. Even at only 80gph flow. So I've thought about creating my own skimmer but honestly this is a very nice and elegant solution. It uses the existing equipment to accomplish the task of keeping the surface clear! I also like that this is more compact and less visually obtrusive than most intake-side surface skimmers which look kind of silly and also fragile. So IMO this is a great idea and I just might get one. Especially if they can get it optimized for nano tanks (for the height).
Hello. A very nice and useful video. How is the skimmer when it comes to its volume? I have an aquarium in my bedroom room and I don't like noise. Is this skimmer quiet?
Looks nice MJ, however I hope Aquario will make 20mm version of this and a lily pipe part. 20mm is so difficult to get lily pipes and other stuff. Actually that's a bit strange since it is a standard size for filtertubing. Best regards, Nick

If that would happen I will definitely let everyone know. I already have the basic version running for a month or so, and it still looks exactly the same, so lets hope it stays that way.
From what Aquario says on their website or Facebook page, the material isn’t normal plastic and won’t turn yellow or turn opaque when dipping in bleach for washing.
How is the skimmer attachment working in the internal filter on the last section if the video?? Is it glued on neat the filter water intake? This is so brilliant I want to try but having a hard time understanding how it's done
Question regarding output flow. I have a 65 gallon with the appropriate canister filter for it. But I’m using the Lilly pipes I used in my old 17 gallon with minor treats to get it to fit on the new filter. Does it matter? Should I get the right size for it? Not sure if this is why I have surface film on water.
The only thing I don’t like about this is that it’s shooting all the surface film (dust, oils, detritus, dead plant leaves, etc) back into your tank. An intake skimmer will filter it all through your canister. The only reason this would be better than an intake skimmer is if you have shrimp or maybe even small fish that can get sucked into the filter. But even then there’s better options. I have a separate skimmer on a timer. 15 minutes on, 30 off, repeat. All day. That way if my shrimp do get sucked in, they can get back out. The film is all absorbed into a fine sponge that I just rinse out once a week. You can also just increase surface agitation to keep the surface clear.z
Please ... I have CO2 for the first time. Tank 30l. Number of bubbles 40 / min since last night. Dropchecker deep green. Rather heavier than lighter green. KH5. PH 7.5. Still very much. 😕 And I'm running it now, I only shine 6 hours a day. CO2 runs non stop. CO2 consumption seems very high to me. I use a neo flow premium with a skimmer and a neo mixer on the spout. Is this the problem? Would it be better to have a diffuser separately? Or remove the skimmer?
I prefer the acrylic tubes, because you don't have to be so gentle with them. They still hide very well and are just as easy to clean. Did anyone catch that a small fry was inside his old intake tube? LOL
Hey buddy great review and I thought the out takes were hilarious. I really enjoy your filming style and videos so please keep it up. All the best from Berlin! Also I really like the product and would like to pick one up from Green Aqua!

The idea with this skimmer is that it removes the oily surface layer from the water. Yes it get's blown into the aquarium instead of the filter, but I haven't found any issues with that. Of course this skimmer does not remove any large floating particles like plant trimmings. If that's what you are looking for I would recommend a eheim skim 350

Hey thanks for a great video! I've been scared away from glass (too fragile) and metal (rust, too strong flow) so these look perfect. Does the reliever slow down the flow enough for a betta? Also, does the inlet need a guard for shrimps and baby fish?
Instead of this bulky contraption one could easily use an inline tap to reduce the flow. Looks much better that way. I still wonder how you attached the skimmer on the internal filter. They usually don't have a round hole as an intake right? Or did you put the skimmer on the outlet?!
@@MJAquascaping I don’t think it will cause any damage if you use like a simple ball valve. With the magnetic prop the pumps on canisters use the pump won’t be working any harder even though there is more resistance to the flow. Lots of canisters include a flow adjustment valve built into the head that works the same way. Like on my fluval 207 I have had the flow turned down for over a year it has been running strong.
Bit strange but I definitely have to try them because my tanks are always full of hardscape and I’m struggling to find places for lily pipes! Thanks for the video man!

@@MJAquascaping honestly after using it for several days i think its a hoax and at least the 12/16 size doesn't really work as a skimmer. Drops too many air bubbles into the water, shakes the surface a lot and makes noise. Greetings.
I'd rather go with the glass option on an intake pipe and actually take the crap out of the tank rather than just pushing it around and hoping that the standard intake picks it up at some point. Another good video though :)
I love the look of these pipes and how adjustable they are to your own tanks. But the one thing I wish they would do is make a typical lilly style outflow, instead of the straight pipe, because my big filter is going to create a ton of flow which I geuss isn't the worst thing, and I really don't like the "reliever".
im planning to buy this one but i have the same issue as yours, the pipe is too long for my tank as well. I don’t really have tools like pipe cutter, how do you cut them?
Hi Mj, i bought the same Neoflow premium at my local store here in Bahrain. (better than glass type coz im too clumsy :)) anyway, not always that im using the outflow restrictor for an adequate aeration to move that biofilm on my 80x40x40 planted tank.
Hey MJ - do you find yourself constantly having to adjust the skimmer due to the water level decreasing from evaporation? I’ve had it set to the perfect skimming strength but then after a couple of hours it’s either too strong or not strong enough due to the water level changing.. doesnt sound like a great way to skim the surface if I have to change it every couple of hrs …
I always thought skimmers went on the intake not the outlet. EDIT: Never mind, I just read through the comments 😂 Holy Cow! 😳 Expensive! I can get ADA glass here in Japan for half the price of this!

@@MJAquascaping thanks for the tip about this product - I just bought it (by clicking on your greenaqua link ;))
Instead of this bulky contraption one could easily use an inline tap to reduce the flow. Looks much better that way. I still wonder how you attached the skimmer on the internal filter. They usually don't have a round hole as an intake right? Or did you put the skimmer on the outlet?!
I always wonder if using those taps will cause any damage to the filter. And yeah I put the skimmer on the outlet of the internal filter as well 😊
@@MJAquascaping I don’t think it will cause any damage if you use like a simple ball valve. With the magnetic prop the pumps on canisters use the pump won’t be working any harder even though there is more resistance to the flow. Lots of canisters include a flow adjustment valve built into the head that works the same way. Like on my fluval 207 I have had the flow turned down for over a year it has been running strong.
I really hope they will make suction for these, cuz screwing every maintenance will be pain in the *** 😀 and suction make it more spotless as well
Agree!
Im struggling to clean it. Inhave a long, flexible pipe cleaner but cant get it back to looking like glass. Its almost like its stained
Bit strange but I definitely have to try them because my tanks are always full of hardscape and I’m struggling to find places for lily pipes! Thanks for the video man!
Thank you very much for the video.
I think it's a good product.
Love your Iwagumi aquarium ❤❤
Thank you very much!
i subbed for the cat!
I have a NEO FLOW WITH SKIMMER GOT IT SEPERATELY AND RELIEVER... WHICH IS MORE IDEA BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM OR BOTH INSTALLED IN THIS SYSTEM .. HOPE YOU CAN POST YOU COMMENT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Don´t you use a sponge on the in flow, so to avoid your shrimps are sucked in?
hello MJ i have a question for you about these lily pipes i was looking at getting the new Aquario Premium Neo Flow Ver.2 for my biomaster 250 thermo i am using the pipes that come with it at present what size do i need to get so i can just swap out the inlet and outlet and still use the flexi tubing the bio master came with ? it comes in a med and large 13mm and 17mm hope you can help as i am a little confused in which one i need thanks😂
If I'm not mistaken the biomaster 250 comes with 16/22mm tubing which will fit on the large size neo flow
@@MJAquascaping thanks for the help mate👍🏻-now i just have to wait for stock coming in !! everywhere in the UK sold out!
@@MJAquascaping thank you !
After a while using it, does it work fine? I have been 2 days and I can not get the skimmer to work well...
Yeah I'm struggling with the skimmer as well. Especially the 12/16 is very hard to get right. The 16/22 works better for me
@@MJAquascaping honestly after using it for several days i think its a hoax and at least the 12/16 size doesn't really work as a skimmer. Drops too many air bubbles into the water, shakes the surface a lot and makes noise. Greetings.
@@cesarbermejo9611 Which filter are you using?
@@MJAquascaping JBL e902
I'd rather go with the glass option on an intake pipe and actually take the crap out of the tank rather than just pushing it around and hoping that the standard intake picks it up at some point. Another good video though :)
I love the look of these pipes and how adjustable they are to your own tanks. But the one thing I wish they would do is make a typical lilly style outflow, instead of the straight pipe, because my big filter is going to create a ton of flow which I geuss isn't the worst thing, and I really don't like the "reliever".
They have recently released a “lily pipe” attachment 😊
@@MJAquascaping yiisss now so long as it's available in the u.s. I have 0 reservations about ordering these now!!!
@@MJAquascaping unfortunately I am not seeing it listed anywhere yet.
@wolfinthesno buce plants has them in stock.
What are your thoughts on snails in an open-top?
Which internal filter are you using in the smaller tank?
Hello can it fit on a 9/12 hose?? Thanks and were can i get separated the neo skimmer thanks.😁
Sorry, no I don't think so. I think you can't buy it anywhere just yet. But it should be for sale at the end of June
@@MJAquascaping keep up the good work your videos for algae and other stuff were pretty helpful to me.
im planning to buy this one but i have the same issue as yours, the pipe is too long for my tank as well. I don’t really have tools like pipe cutter, how do you cut them?
It was very easy to cut with a simple bread or steak knife 😬
Can this be used in salt water?
It might not be super-efficient, but lily pipes are big, and, as nice as they are, I'm growing to hate the bulky Eheim skimmers.
Hi Mj, i bought the same Neoflow premium at my local store here in Bahrain. (better than glass type coz im too clumsy :)) anyway, not always that im using the outflow restrictor for an adequate aeration to move that biofilm on my 80x40x40 planted tank.
Surface skimmer or inlet pipe which is best..wt u prefer
inlet pipe!
What filter do you use for this?
a like for that Transition 😁
so the surface scum are being pushed to the water and not to the filter?
Hey MJ - do you find yourself constantly having to adjust the skimmer due to the water level decreasing from evaporation? I’ve had it set to the perfect skimming strength but then after a couple of hours it’s either too strong or not strong enough due to the water level changing.. doesnt sound like a great way to skim the surface if I have to change it every couple of hrs …
Yeah same here... constantly adjusting it...
@@MJAquascaping I guess that's a big downside for many people. I'm sure you would have told us in the video if this wasn't sponsored :(
Hey MJ. Did you have not the problem with the skimmer that it sucks in Oto's? It killed for me 3 already... 😡
I’ve lost 1 pygmy Cory because of the skimmer. But 3 Oto’s that’s crazy… sorry to hear that man..
yeah, in 6 weeks... I have to figure out something what to do with it :/
Gebruik je co2 toevoeging in deze tank? Ziet er heel goed uit hoor! 👌
Yes ook CO2!
Thanks, MJ.
I always thought skimmers went on the intake not the outlet. EDIT: Never mind, I just read through the comments 😂 Holy Cow! 😳 Expensive! I can get ADA glass here in Japan for half the price of this!
So the skimmer dont have a filter ?
minute 1, u made me laugh :))) Keep it up, i like this style.
Glad you enjoyed!
@@MJAquascaping educational too. It's the first time i see the venturi effect being used for a skimmer. Very clever.
neither the inlet of the filter or the skimmer is suitable for a shrimp tank
Liked the video because of the transition effect 😅
Perfect review, + outakes!! 😂😂
😬
Super 👍rewelacja
The name of ur lamp, pls
Uniq nano from aquagrowled
Oh man, You should see my cat. Lol I love feeding her.
goeie video, 😄, ik wil m hebben 😂😂😂
Is there a possibility that the shrimp will suck in from the skimmer?
Small chance, but because the skimmer is attached on the outflow, they will just be pushed straight back into the aquarium.
I love the information but your cat stole the show today! 😂
Always!
It ls not working.
just remember, this transparent look is just temporary. it will change to whitish in no time.
shrimp moving around a lot, you gonna get shrimplets soon
I am a mature guy buy you should probably pause in between saying surface and scum.
A pipe cutter would be better?
Ha ha !!!!! Very Very nazzzze !!!!!
Overpriced 😂.
