OK, my theory is that this beautiful song derives its name from its parallels to Nick Drake's song "Parasite" where he describes "feeling down" as he travels alone through a subway station. That's the song that was stuck in Ballentine’s head as she walked home from the train station, the one whose lyrics she finally understood "in the moment". Thoughts?
Spot on. Sailing downstairs to the Northern Line of the London Underground, at Chalk Farm Station - which was opposite the bottom of Haverstock Hill, where Nick's flat was. He'd travel "in sin", so that meant avoiding the ticket barriers, and lifts, and using the emergency set of stairs, off to the side.
@@IainBakerplus oh, that interpretation of the “traveling far in sin” makes perfect sense! That could be why he calls himself a parasite in the refrain.
Great song and clip. Discovered this by way of Ryan Daniel Browne (son of Jackson) who is heavily involved in producing and directing up and coming new artists.
So many lyrics this could be about, really captures how it feels to listen to his music.
So true
skullcrusher’s music always makes me feel at peace.
Looking forward to finally seeing you in Richmond VA!!!
Just beautiful
Beautiful.
as always, so beautiful, so kindred. So much love.💟
