Mary didn't understand why at such a young age she was making this vow. You can't stop God's plan. God was keeping her a virgin so he could use her womb for the spiritual conception of Jesus. Once Mary became older she understood God's purpose for keeping her a virgin. It was all done for Jesus. After giving birth to Jesus she now could live a normal life of marriage by having a husband and children. She didn't break any vows or covenant with God.
