Of everything in the 40k universe. Astarties, Tau, Tyranids, Elder, Orks, Chaos. The real Badasses are the Imperial Guard. For we are but simple humans. A Farmer, a Shopkeeper, a Factory Worker. We are Fathers, Sons, and Brothers. We are nothing more than mere humans fighting against the tides of Chaos and Xenos over and over again. If you can’t think of anything more badass then the soldier that is fighting for his people and family. Then what is there. For we are nothing but humans. Standing strong and proud against those that would seek to destroy us, humiliate us, and yet we continue fighting for we know that even if we die. That not only will the Imperium. This is my imperial guard analogy: Think of a chaos marine tactical squad Now think of a imperial guard regiment Think of the chaos tactical squad as a incredibly fat man Think of the guardsmen as a never-ending swarm of pies… Now imagine tasking this fat man (chaos) as being tasked to eat (/fight) all these pie's (the IG) Now for the first couple the pies he's gonna be able to wolf them down pretty easily However, after lets say 10 pies the fat mans gonna begin to struggle Eventually if the fat man tries to eat any more his stomach will rupture But the swarm of pie's never seems to end and eventually his stomach can't take anymore his stomach ruptures and he dies… And there you have a weird way of looking at a IG victory

Ironic that Patton believed in reincarnation, which exists in 40k. "All right, you sons of bitches. You know how I feel. I'll be proud to lead you wonderful guys in battle anytime, anywhere. You know, there are a lot of people out there that say "Warhammer is just a bunch of big guns. It is what the writers could think was the most overpowered was at the time and blah, blah, blah." While Warhammer is extremely powerful, it isn't over powered... The reason i say that is for one reason. The enemies the Imperium faces are just as powerful if not more powerful so you cant say they are overpowered when in their own universe, they are evenly matched. They are just overpowered when they go up against your puny Spartans or Jedi's.
abaddou1 Also, you can't forget that Bolter shots explode on impact and are also rocket propelled. So imagine trying to block a hundred, rapid-fire, rocket propelled, slugs that explode once tempered with. Even if the Jedi could manage to deflect them all, his Lightsabre would set off the explosion.
Follow your orders, remember your training, watch each other's backs, and if you're very VERY lucky...you can live long enough to die knowing that the Space Marines will get all the credit for your hard work.
For that weak sack of flesh that you so gleefully mock is no super soldier, no immortal warrior, no creature cursed by chaos like you. He is a man, an imperial guardsman drawn from some forgotten corner of the Imperium to fight for his species and for the safety of the people he loves. He is a factory worker, a farmer, a storekeeper, a father, a brother, a son, a mere man. And against creatures like you, teeming and numberless, powered by the very will of thirsting gods......... He holds the line. He has held the line for ten thousand Years.
Imagine putting the imperial guard into any other Sci fi universe. They'd crush the hell out of anything, the Galactic Empire ain't got shit on the Guard. The arachnids from star ship troopers are just Tyranids but weaker. Navi from avatar are nothing more than a nuisance to the guard. The list goes on, as do the legions of guardsmen marching forth fir the glory of the Emperor and the Imperium
Good soldiers are like good ammunition. You send them into an area to cause as much damage as possible. You can spend a lot of money on a few good shots that may be wasted, but are unequaled when they hit their mark (space marines). Alternatively, you could spend the same money on countless more rounds (imperial guard), And when all are put down range, your target is sure to have fallen. And if you find that your gun has been emptied, you can rest easy in the knowledge that there is always more where that came from.

May his soul rest at the Emperor's side...and may the Emperor bless this place as one of his temples. For the Emperor.
Imperial Guard is very underrated, people think that they are weak idiots who just throw bodies at the enemy, but this is warhammer, EVERYONE just throws bodies at the enemy, nobody uses actual strategy and tactics here. Also how do you expect for Imperial Guard commanders to outsmart Eldars for example? Most of the time Imperial Guard is fighting with cultists, Orks and Tyranid and doing great job, yeah, againist Chaos, Demons and Necrons they are useless, but there are always Astartes that can deal with them.
Actually depends on the general/colonel/war master/lord militant. some of them just throw men until the enemy drowns under the blood ans bodies but a lot of commanders are also actual competent leaders and care about their men. Plus they're properly rated as brave under equipped men and woman.
+dmvh222 Depends on the Orkboss running the orkshow. orks can't aim or think tactically or think much in general so a few thousand flashlight wielding badasses are a bad day most of the time. Unless it's the Ork who's in a relationship with Yarrik or The Beast.
The Imperial guard aren't really..designed for offence, that is more the area where the space marines would work better. an IG armies standard military strategy is to bunker down, dig in and create defensive fortifications. Basically "the enemy will crash upon this fortress like water upon the rocks" Plus, the IG have some god damn awesome armoured corps, especially the Basalisk which is just guuuuuuuuugh so goooooooooooood. XD "Oh you wanna advance on my fortress?! BASILISK ARTILLERY STRIKE, BLOW EM APART FROM MILES AWAY" XD Plus..Ogryn's man.
The space marines are more offensively minded but too small in number to actually hold an offence for long, that's why artistes are usually the ones doing hit and run attacks so that the IG offense can survive long enough.
No. a star sized gun that shoots planet sized guns that shoot spaceships that shoot baneblades that have the cannons altered to shoot out space marines dual wielding heavy bolters might have something resembling 10% of enuff dakka.

Nurgle:Somehow manages to kill himself Slaanesh:Raped so hard that he isnt even got a pleasure from it.
A single space marine is on their own a one man army. And in a full chapter of them there's a good thousand of them. A single guardsman is not. But they are part of a full army, which is one of several thousand such armies that is marching into the fight. And that's before their tanks even show up.
Humans compared to everything in 40K are weak. The Guardsman is just that, only human, and he has held the line for 10,000 years. *What's your excuse monster?*
If there was ever a human being who could school Commissar Yarrick on how to out-fight an Ork, it would be George S. Patton. "An entire WORLD at war, and I'm left out of it?!? God will NOT allow this to happen!"

His war machines will crush you under their treads, and his mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. So make yourselves ready, you cannot win”
I remember years ago, an ex-friend tried to get me into 40k tabletop. I told him if I did play, it'd be with the Imperial Guard. He asked why, because everything is cooler than them. Cooler than ordinary humans holding the line against enemies many times their own strength? Hell naw!!!
Holy shit! I just realized that one of my drill sergeants must've been a warhammer40k fan because we sang this in cadence a few times in Ft.Benning during company runs.
If you know no fear then you know no bravery. To overcome fear you must be brave. Guardsmen are more brave than Spacemarine and more human than Spacemarine. Trillions of Guardsmen stand and fight the foul Xeno, the vile Mutant, and the foolish traitor. Let it be known that in a galaxy of monsters, aliens, superhumans, mutants, and traitors the Guardsmen stand and fight them all and fight them despite thier mere existence as a human. The bravest of humanity is not the Spacemarine, but the Guardsmen who spits in the face of death and demands more. Imperial Guard deserve just as much love as Spacemarines.

This is my imperial guard analogy:
Think of a chaos marine tactical squad
Now think of a imperial guard regiment
Think of the chaos tactical squad as a incredibly fat man
Think of the guardsmen as a never-ending swarm of pies…
Now imagine tasking this fat man (chaos) as being tasked to eat (/fight) all these pie's (the IG)
Now for the first couple the pies he's gonna be able to wolf them down pretty easily
However, after lets say 10 pies the fat mans gonna begin to struggle
Eventually if the fat man tries to eat any more his stomach will rupture
But the swarm of pie's never seems to end and eventually his stomach can't take anymore his stomach ruptures and he dies… And there you have a weird way of looking at a IG victory
Jesse Pinkman Nurgle likes your analogy :)

Enemy faces in my sights
Aim with the hand, shoot with the mind
Kill with a heart like arctic ice

Lay waste to the ground of an enemy shore
Wade through the blood spilled on the floor, and if
Another one stands I'll kill some more
Bullet in the breech and a fire in me
Like a cigarette thrown to gasoline, if
Death don't bring you fear I swear
You'll fear these marching feet
Come to the nightmare, come to me
Deep down in the dark where the devil be
In the maw with the jaws and the razor teeth
Where the brimstone burns and the angel weeps
Call to the gods if I cross your path and
My silhouette hangs like a body bag
Hope is a moment now long past
The shadow of death is the one I cast
I am a Soldier I'm marching on
I am a warrior and this is my song
My eyes are steel and my gaze is long
I am a warrior and this is my song
When I just going to shoot the bastard
We are going to cut out their living guts
And use them.. to grease the threads of our tanks
We're gonna murder those loudy bastards by the push!
Now I live lean and I mean to inflict the grief
And the least of me's still out of your reach
The killing machine's gonna do the deed
Until the river runs dry and my last breath leaves
Chin in the air with a head held high
I'll stand in the path of the enemy line
Feel no fear, know my pride
For God and Country I'll end your life

You know, there are a lot of people out there that say "Warhammer is just a bunch of big guns. It is what the writers could think was the most overpowered was at the time and blah, blah, blah." While Warhammer is extremely powerful, it isn't over powered... The reason i say that is for one reason. The enemies the Imperium faces are just as powerful if not more powerful so you cant say they are overpowered when in their own universe, they are evenly matched. They are just overpowered when they go up against your puny Spartans or Jedi's.
Jedi's would kick the asses of the shitty-mitty space marines
Why? Cuz lihtsaber can cut chainsword and can proteckt aganist bolters
Domonkos Nagy but if an ork belives his choppa' "will cut da humies sparkly sword" then it will

Domonkos Nagy Oh yeah? Try to block a plasma gun shot with your flashlight see what happens.
abaddou1 Also, you can't forget that Bolter shots explode on impact and are also rocket propelled.

This has convinced me to create an imperial guard army
Im making one after I finish my space marine army

Imperial Guard is very underrated, people think that they are weak
idiots who just throw bodies at the enemy, but this is warhammer,
EVERYONE just throws bodies at the enemy, nobody uses actual strategy
and tactics here. Also how do you expect for Imperial Guard commanders
to outsmart Eldars for example? Most of the time Imperial Guard is
fighting with cultists, Orks and Tyranid and doing great job, yeah,
againist Chaos, Demons and Necrons they are useless, but there are
always Astartes that can deal with them.
Actually depends on the general/colonel/war master/lord militant. some of them just throw men until the enemy drowns under the blood ans bodies but a lot of commanders are also actual competent leaders and care about their men. Plus they're properly rated as brave under equipped men and woman.
Arse Blaster I doubt that throwing bodies would work againist orks or tyranids
+dmvh222 Depends on the Orkboss running the orkshow. orks can't aim or think tactically or think much in general so a few thousand flashlight wielding badasses are a bad day most of the time. Unless it's the Ork who's in a relationship with Yarrik or The Beast.

The Imperial guard aren't really..designed for offence, that is more the area where the space marines would work better. an IG armies standard military strategy is to bunker down, dig in and create defensive fortifications. Basically "the enemy will crash upon this fortress like water upon the rocks"
Plus, the IG have some god damn awesome armoured corps, especially the Basalisk which is just guuuuuuuuugh so goooooooooooood. XD "Oh you wanna advance on my fortress?! BASILISK ARTILLERY STRIKE, BLOW EM APART FROM MILES AWAY" XD Plus..Ogryn's man.

Commissar: "If the standard imperial lasgun wasn't meant for melee combat, then why does it have a bayonet clip?"
