I really enjoyed your bird photos, the tonality of these shots resemble me some photography of a past. I like the contrast and bold lights and shadows. Don’t know why but they kind of remind me of Ralph Gibson. Cheers!
Wow, your illustration at the end was really cool. We talk about what's happening with dodging/burning and using contrast filters but seeing the effect on an example as it happens is excellent. Thanks Roger! Great photos, too. Love both those films.
A few weeks back my Mother in Law asked if I wanted her old wellies!! I politely declined the offer, as you can see 😂. I really should get some though.
I had a good strap on it. If I did go in you'd see one hand out the water with a camera attached to it ha ha. Just have to make sure you wipe the camera after a shoot like that from the salt.
Yes, I have years of negatives of that beach Mike. There is always something different to focus on. Clouds, light, tide, boats, birds. Winter is more challenging as it's really cold with the icy chill coming off the sea. Summer it's a nice stroll. You get horses running there too sometimes. Which I have a few photos of. Sun never sets over the sea there, it rises. Cheers.
Lower the ISO, longer the film resists age fog. I mentioned to Roger before that with PanF latent images degrade faster than other films so develop promptly. But no rush to shoot it, even after 30 years (in my experience).
It's been in the fridge so long and someone else's fridge much longer. I had time and the sun was bright so I thought I'd see what shots I could get down the beach with it. I had nothing to lose, except time. No date on the film either as there was no box. I pushed it too at 100! I was lucky! When I saw the negs after the Pyro dev I was really happy! Thanks as always for the input.
I can agree. Unless you've had it from new and know it's storage. As in frozen! I have an exposed 120 film in the freezer from a few years ago which I've dated. I have no idea what is on the film but something I took photos of. Just thought it would be fun in years to come to develop it.
You say that you pushed your roll of film too ASA 100? That horizontal shot into the sun (Happiness Is Horizontal) with the birds and also the vertical with the sign post, those were awesome! What was the exposure for those what around 1/500 @ f/8? Cheers!
It would have been a small aperture so more than likely f11 or 16. I was in aperture priority so I guess the camera was about 1/125th, maybe a bit more. The metering was coming off the bright sun.
After all your hard work Roger, my favourite shot was shot into the sun at 1:20! Was it a digital shot or video still? You didn’t really suggest it was a film shot. As far as specs in sky goes, I have a digital shot that has one which I presumed to be a seagull. Zooming in it appears to be basically a UFO! Shiny metallic cone. It’s not even noticeable until you zoom right into the sky. Thanks for the video man 👍📸
Thanks Sloop! I took two photographs on that film of that scene. One Landscape and one more from a different angle at portrait. So it was film. They all were in the video. Ha Ha, it could have been a UFO! Actually on the negative there was I tiny pinhole like spot with no emulsion on at all. Strange. Thats why it rendered as a tiny black dot on the print. Luckily it was in an area where I could crop.
Some cracking shots and the music when you were on the sand was perfect, it made me smile a lot.
Thanks as always for your time and effort you put into your presentations...here's a bit of sunshine from New Zealand 😎🌞🌞🌞
Thanks Yorkie! Have fun in the sun!

Very nice prints, and I love the silhouettes of the birds on the bench
Thanks Dominic. I framed the shot first, then threw some small bits of bread (shouldn't really they say) and waited for the action.
Really interesting - as usual! The animation of the effect of the filters was very good 😀
Thank you very much Simon. It's nice to know the illustration made sense.

Glad you appreciated that David. It takes time to do! So thank you! And I'm glad it made sense. It's hard to show in the darkroom sometimes.
As many times as you've fled the waves, I would have bought a pair of rubber boots long ago.
😉

Absolutely stunning shots... 🤩
Thank you so much 😀
B🇬🇧oss Roger still on wave👍
ha ha, thanks.
Great images
Thanks mate.
Thanks
Wow, thank you very much!!
Making the IOW look beautiful again and again.
Cheers Paul. She does have some beautiful scenery
@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Garlic Farm is the best. Wow!
Great video, like the work in the dark room. Thought I would be going for 14 seconds, but you are a true master (in comparision to me)
Thanks Marco. I feel it was too dark but I ended up changing it all around anyway. My printing is very basic really but simple works.
Some very nimble footwork this time for us to enjoy.
Too cold to get those twinkle toes wet David! 😂
Bravo
Great video. I use a similar process in my darkroom work, but unlike you, I don’t have Pentax Pete watching my every move!
Ha ha. I took that when he visited. Lovely guy.
Wonderful prints! But I think a Nikonos would be a more suitable camera for taking photos at the sea 😉

You've got quite a few shots of that area - might make a good collage, or something along those lines.
Just saying.

Beautiful printing. I am surprised that you managed to get anything with that expired Pan F. It has the old wrappping.

@danem2215 It's a gamble that I am not prepared to take. Five to ten years after the expiry date might be OK, but no more IMHO.

Wellies 😂
Knew it! Like clockwork 😂
