Well said. My 2023 Cross Turismo has almost ruined my 992 experience (or any performance combustion car for that matter) power is immediate at all times and handling is simply better....Petrol motors simply can't compete and are now a compromise relatively speaking.
I’ve been driving my 4s sedan now for 3 months and completely subscribe to you view except for two points. Rear-wheel steering helps you really in inner city driving and tight spots, it might be a couple of decimeters, but it makes the difference. With respect to recuperation, it is coasting that brings me the really low power consumption. The car hides it’s heavy, but that weight is inertia that let’s you coast easily.
00:59 It's really surprising how Porsche decided to engineer in a little child's bicycle and some loosely wrapped garden hose (or maybe electrical wiring?). Surprisingly inelegant work from such a proud engineering company! 😛 Great video, as always. Love my Taycan 4S Cross Turismo!
You can activate 'auto' recuperation by pressing the button for 2 seconds. The car will use its radar to control the amount of braking if there is someone in front of you.
Great vid as per usual. Thank you for your content. I will like to call an alibi on one of the points you made. I, and many, completely disagree with you on the subscription being a good idea. Regardless of whether one pays for it up front or not. If the car has it, and it’s a matter of software, just give it to people. I’m over simplifying, granted, but imagine if you had to pay a subscription for your refrigerator to also make ice. BMW tested theory with carplay some time ago and found people at their gates with torches and pitchforks. Please do not normalize that concept sir, lol, they make enough money. Thanks again.
You're right I think. My opinion is that installing hardware that the customer can't use unless he pays a subscription is a ridiculous waste of resources, which only serves to increase revenue for the OEM's because they can produce each car the same way and so benefit from the economies of scale. In a time where we're all asked to watch our consumption, watch our emissions, recycle, spend less, move to electric vehicles, fly less, have less children,..... I find it an affront that companies that together produce about a hundred million cars a year are starting to install loads of advanced equipment, undoubtedly using many different and sometimes exotic resources, which is never going to be used. This should be restricted by law I think, though some people might find that too extreme, "free market" and all And all that is even on top of the simple fact that they, like you say, make enough money already. No need to squeeze people like lemons. If the hardware is installed the hardware should be useable, simple as that
The ST is still such a practical car. 3-4 times a week have the boot completely full and you can actually carry a lot of stuff in there, albeit I always get rid of the useless parcel shelf. And then you empty it out, the kids are not with you and you can properly drive it. The biggest thing is the feel that it gives you is better than a lot of modern cars on the road. And it feels like a Porsche. The steering gives you feedback, the car handles like actual magic and the speed you can carry is ridiculous. Then calm down a bit and the ride is brilliant, especially with the air suspension: I've never had a complaint from my wife who hates 'hard' handling cars. Rear wheel steer is also excellent imo. Sport sound is a total extra and gives you a bit of aural feedback, but does get annoying on long journeys. At least you can turn it off. The entertainment (PCM), is easy to use and intuitive and you don't notice the lack of buttons because you just don't need to do much in the car and Wireless CarPlay integration has been flawless for me. The regen being on is simply not needed at all. The car is much more efficient in the standard (or range), mode that decouples the motors when not accelerating. If you are on the flat or a slight downhill it just cruises and will speed up giving you the option to add a bit of brake-pedal based regen if needed to keep speed lower. This is something that most reviewers haven't managed to understand or take advantage of and they really need to pick up on it and test it properly.
I test drove a Taycan Cross Turismo 4 (not the 4s) and I really wanted to like it, particularly having read and watched so many reviews, however the 2 things I couldn’t get my head around were :- 1) It didn’t feel that responsively instantly, if I hit the accelerator hard, there was a pause as it downshifted then went, but felt to me like a definite pause, but perhaps this was because the 4 is too slow ? 2) I initially drove it with the regen off (I assume standard setting?) but I did find as I came off the accelerator the car kept going with inertia and I found I was getting nearer to things ahead than I intended too! … leading to more pronounced braking being required. Where as the regen helped this a little. But overall it seemed like the accelerator pedal had a fairly long travel required to get some response, then the inertia of no engine braking meant I’d need to then brake harder, so it felt harder to balance the response and drive with just the accelerator during normal fast driving Then after the test drive, I jumped back in my Golf R, and immediately thought it as far more instantly responsive (and needed a lot less throttle input), also being smaller it felt easier to chuck around, and I ended up thinking is the Taycan really worth 50K more than my current car ? Appreciate any comments / thoughts from people that have driven one for longer or made comparisons to other ICE cars. Anyway I was wondering, if anyone else found the same ? did I not test drive for long enough, or is the 4S the minimum for a more responsive drive. I test drove on dual carriage way for 5 miles, then a country lane for a bit too. The handling was great, but I did think the chuckability was less than my Golf R and steering was quite weighty.
@@PeteThx For a start I guess it would be useful to know which mode you were in? Comfort mode doesn't hold the car near where the best acceleration will get you. Sport and Sports Plus will get you there. Then this also means if you are driving quickly, the Sports Plus mode adds some engine regen which gives you some speed retardation. Note that the Taycan is designed specifically to regen mostly on the brakes though, so 90% of 'braking' is engin regen. The weight of the steering on the Porsche is deliberately heavier than cars like an R (or an S3/RS3 that I've had). This means when it's weighted up you can actually feel what is going on rather than the slightly more inert feeling of the R/S3/RS3 (having driven or owned all 3 and owning a Taycan). The Taycan without the performance battery should still be pretty rapid, but yeah they aren't the fastest cars out there. Leaving the regen off means you can cruise for a long time on the flat without requiring acceleration and I've found it's easily the best way to drive a Taycan if you want to get as much range as you can. But then you use the brakes carefully to regen either on downhills, or to slow down and gain more range. Overall I'd be surprised if the R wasn't relatively close in speed to a Taycan generally, but in terms of steering and feel: I personally think the Taycan is a long way ahead of the cars mentioned earlier. Also worth trying them on a track with an instructor, as they will show you how nice the chassis is and where you can 'play' with the car.
@@kempez Thanks for your reply - interesting. I drove the 4 in Normal Mode initially then Sport mode for a while, it did have the Performance Battery but was just the 4 Cross Turismo spec. With my R, I generally drive it in Normal Mode and save the Sport for more occasional use, so I was trying a like for like comparison. I do find the Sport mode in the R is even more instantly responsive - almost to the extent of being too responsive to minor throttle inputs. I think I could feel that the Taycan handling was far superior to my R, but I guess I’m just used to the R being small, responsive and agile too - small often feels quick. Maybe a 4s would give me a better experience.
@@PeteThx makes sense totally. Remember that the Taycan is also designed as a luxury car too, so 'normal' mode is very pliant and soft when compared to a hot hatch (esp on air). But yeah comparisons and what you were feeling seem accurate. A shorter car rotates quicker and the Taycan is a very long car so has a lot more stability inherently, albeit using Sports Plus and putting some speed on it can get quite playful (maybe best saved for track!). I find myself constantly having to check the speed as I find you just don't feel the speed as easily because the capability of the car is so vast. I tested a 4S and a Turbo and I picked the Turbo, so I'm a bit of a sucker for speed (there were other factors too!). The 4S or even GTS may be worth a spin in, as they do give you a chunk more power and therefore response. But at the same time, it may be that you still want to more easily accessible and visceral experience of a hatch or another decent ICE car (I had a C63 last and the engine was EVERYTHING 😂), which is fair enough, because each to their own 👍
So the combustion engine variant would be the Panamera ST. Would be nice if you could make a comparison of these two when the new updated version of the Panamera will be presented later this year.
Great video and a really great car. I own the GTS ST, also in this lovely gentian blue. But I have a question: did you experience any software issues with your taycan, like e.g. An unresponsive center display followed by an unmotivated restart of the PCM? Because I have experienced this in mine, from time to time and that sthe only things that really bothers me.
22:12 what is weird to me... my 2020 C63 does all that, too. last time it drove me from one town to another all by itself. i just had to rattle the steering wheel every 15 seconds. it accelerated and braked by itself for corners. it comes to a full stop before a roundabout.
Only one regen setting? On my 4S I’ve got 2. Short press the regen button for standard and long press for Adaptive Regen. Adaptive is v clever and is what I use all the time. Also I drive reasonably spiritedly and get over 260 miles range in the summer using standard drive mode but in the lowest suspension setting, and AC in eco mode which works fine even in 30+ degree C heat! Awesome car 😊
I really hope Porsche implements varying levels of regen from nothing to single pedal. They are being too arrogant to say they do not believe it improves range, that is not the point. Single Pedal driving can be really useful and let the drivers decide if they want to use it.
How is it arrogant? More presumptuous perhaps is to suggest one knows more than this particular manufacturer about how to achieve the design targets of the brand. Buy a Tesla if you need a one-pedal car. Personally, I'm more than happy to move my foot an inch or so to the left when necessary in my 4S Cross Turismo. Reminder that the manufacturer that achieves highest EPA vs real world range percentage in independent testing wears a Stuttgart badge.
Also loving my ST 4S, for many of the same reasons mentioned. Try using the auto regen, either hold down the regen button on the steering wheel for two secs, or select it within the PCM (on the screen in the video at 12.18) 👍
I’d love to hear an update on this car (if you still have it). I’m so torn on a Taycan Cross Tourismo or stick with my Giulia Veloce. If I didn’t have to sell the Veloce I think I’d go for the Taycan CT right now.
14:50 There are many combustion cars with front trunks. And if you are referring to it being a second trunk there are some that have that as well such as the C8 corvette!

With console, the aforementioned charger is a thing of beauty and can be accessed from desktop or via one's Porsche account with mobile device. Furthermore it has it's own travel bag complete with every plug type available for EV charging.
The Taycan prices are going down fast (as many others, too). Driving an EV is SOO MUCH CHEAPER than internal combustion. Take a look in 2 years and you can pick up a Taycan with maybe 45k.
I was just watching some. Videos about how terrible the depreciation is for these electric cars. I guess it’s a good for the used car buyer, but then how long should an electric car last?
Just my opinion, the Taycan Sport Turismo is the best looking Wagen to me, over all Sedan. Not the Sedan Taycan but this. Wish the Panamera could have this...
I have an M5 F90.. test drove the Audi etron gt rs and was impressed... but can't bring myself to get rid of the M5 just yet .. now need to test the taycan
You'll never "save money" by not using these "optional" monthly features. The car was built with the hardware/equipment installed, therefor it's overall build price is higher (parts) and the customer pays it in the end regardless.
You have confused me! Your GTS video said it was the on,y one to have, that rear wheel steering made such a difference but you are now saying the dead opposite. Would you not have the GTS now if you had the opportunity?
Great car and spec, would you please look in to the audio volume? Have to crank up the volume high on my laptop to hear you speak (no problem with other creator content)
Sad fact no one is buying them, maybe with the refresh and the longer range. Expect 30% depreciation in the first year. Maybe a good value if purchased used.
You know as much as I love my Taycan and I wish I had a little more room for storage. I just can’t see myself getting a station wagon Porsche. I see why they have so little in the USA it’s just not our style
I’ve just got back from the Le Mans 24, a round trip of nearly 1000 miles for me and I averaged 3.3 m/kWh. That equates to a range of 277 miles (usable battery size of 84 kWh x 3.3)
I am waiting for it, too but after having the Taycan for 2,5 years now I doubt the Boxer will drive so much better than the Taycan. And in practicality it's not a good car. Of course I will test drive it when its possible but the Taycan already drives so well.....
Your review echoes why I decided on an ST. The only bad point I've seen in this entire review, your charger. My business fits Anderson A2's and other chargers but you'll never catch us using SY cable as it's not UV stable and breaks down over time on the outer sheath. Would much rather see EV ultra or even just NYY cable being used. Hopefully you can have your installer rectify that before the house is fully complete.
@@ThrowEmBack I agree. Everybody of my friends thought I will be the last one to go EV, well I was 2nd. Now 2,5 years in a Taycan and would never ever change back. I have had some nice cars, like E92 M3 and F80 M3 and this is better than the F80 and very close to the E92.
Then requirements to have an EV: 1. You must be rich 2. Have a house with on drive parking or garage or apartment with private parking so you can have a fast charger to charge at home Alternative do as my friend does. do not drive more than 200 miles in a month that way you only need to charge once a month 😂and he does using a 3 pin plug, no fast charger needed but then again only driving that many miles no car needed. 😂

That are real man problems🫡
The Taycan drives way better than the RS eTron GT. I have driven the F90 M5 numerous times but wouldn't change my 4S.
did you get insulation glass?
Is that a blemish in the wheel finish at 05:08?
This is my favorite Taycan
Long live the b8 audi rs4/rs5, the w204 c63 amg, the e90/92/93 M3, the lexus RCF/LC500
@14:50 - except ICE-cars like Porsche Boxster, Cayman and 911 🤷♂️😅
Was going to say the same thing. Front trunk/boot has been around for quite a long time for those ICE cars.
You'll never "save money" by not using these "optional" monthly features. The car was built with the hardware/equipment installed, therefor it's overall build price is higher (parts) and the customer pays it in the end regardless.
Never thought I’d be buying an electric car. But now these have shit the bed they are really good value.
You have confused me! Your GTS video said it was the on,y one to have, that rear wheel steering made such a difference but you are now saying the dead opposite. Would you not have the GTS now if you had the opportunity?
I’d love for Porsche to add the smart doors that close when you press on the brake.
Brake
Has the sport Turismo the same suspension comfort than the cross Turismo? I have the CT but hesitate to change to ST as I like the comfort of the CT
No
Great car and spec, would you please look in to the audio volume? Have to crank up the volume high on my laptop to hear you speak (no problem with other creator content)
Must be your laptop speakers. I hear him just fine.
Nice car, great information 👍👍👍
How does it compare to your new M3?
Bloody lovely spec that👍👍Why the hell don't Porsche have Silver as an option for all the Alloy wheel styles. Beggars belief..
Pro paddles, thank you
A proper sporty coupe electric car would be cool to see
Man that is one good looking car!!!
Great review, great e porsche
Even if Porsche does not get the EV718 right, we are not all screwed. There are options.
yeah, the Taycan
Low range High price?
Sad fact no one is buying them, maybe with the refresh and the longer range. Expect 30% depreciation in the first year. Maybe a good value if purchased used.
I love your contents. ❤
You know as much as I love my Taycan and I wish I had a little more room for storage. I just can’t see myself getting a station wagon Porsche. I see why they have so little in the USA it’s just not our style
I’m in. mamba green for me.
What kind of range does it average in real world situations?
I’ve just got back from the Le Mans 24, a round trip of nearly 1000 miles for me and I averaged 3.3 m/kWh. That equates to a range of 277 miles (usable battery size of 84 kWh x 3.3)
I get 450 km in the summer, even over 500 a few times. In the winter in Finland it's much less, around 300 when its under zero degrees Celcius
what means goldielocks ?
Looks great!
Literally can’t wait for an EV boxster! But by the time they arrive the company car tax will be gone I bet
I am waiting for it, too but after having the Taycan for 2,5 years now I doubt the Boxer will drive so much better than the Taycan. And in practicality it's not a good car. Of course I will test drive it when its possible but the Taycan already drives so well.....
No black wheels, nice!
Great review but imho the sedan looks by far the best of the bunch.
Raziz “Damn Good” Rehan
funny that my 2015 jag did a 3.7 to 100.
22:52 andrew??
718 EV will be single motor RWD only
Just give me a Taycsn coupe with a proper sunroof
Let's be real. What is the impact on your light bill?
Interior colour of the featured car not my cup of tea. Exterior colour well acceptable 👍🏽
Nice...but it's not the icon - the 911.
How come you only make videos of German cars?
Because they're the best.
What else is there? 😂
@@Nickbaldeagle02they are unreliable and over computerized. Japanese cars are better made and last longer
@@Alex335ijapanese cars
Where are you from GumBall 3000!!!
I’ll stick with my S Class Coupe and it’s 4L V8 thanks…
*Raz... constructive comment.... Your voice doesn't come through as it should, not as clear as it used to be*
Excellent presentation as usual……EV , it’s still a firm no for me
The future is now, old man. Get with it or get left behind 😂.
@@ThrowEmBack I agree. Everybody of my friends thought I will be the last one to go EV, well I was 2nd. Now 2,5 years in a Taycan and would never ever change back. I have had some nice cars, like E92 M3 and F80 M3 and this is better than the F80 and very close to the E92.
wow so now we should accept 300km range in +100k car and normalise monthly pay2use model…
These cars don't make sense anymore after experiencing Tesla Model S Plaid. It is just a spaceship on earth.
Great content…goodbye Mercedes!!

The side of your house needs some clean up
❤👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
3.58 is much slower than Model S and even Model 3 smh
Then requirements to have an EV:
1. You must be rich
2. Have a house with on drive parking or garage or apartment with private parking so you can have a fast charger to charge at home
Alternative do as my friend does. do not drive more than 200 miles in a month that way you only need to charge once a month 😂and he does using a 3 pin plug, no fast charger needed but then again only driving that many miles no car needed. 😂
My employer has installed EV charging spaces in the car park FREE for any employee to use.
@@Nickbaldeagle02 But you still got to be rich to afford to buy an EV in the first place! Or spend what you can’t afford on a stupid PCP plan which for most people makes zero financial sense!
@@joebloggs4191 I leased my BMW X1. £300 a month for 5 years which is probably what I'd have been looking to pay on a loan for a second hand car. Leasing Options if you're interested.
I've ordered the wife a brand new Nissan Juke hybrid. I myself am considering the BMW i4.
you dont need a fast charger at home if you dont drive hundreds of km every day
@@Nickbaldeagle02 if you have to lease or finance a car then sorry to say you can’t afford it. The only time it makes sense to finance a car is a) you have a big successful business and the car payments are a tax write off b) opportunity costs I.e. you are better off investing the cash elsewhere that will earn you way more money than what it costs to finance the car and c) if your employer is giving you subsidy for a company car but then that depends on the tax situation. What’s wrong with buying a car for cash comfortably within your means?
I am a big fan of your channel...But... You are aware that you filmed a bunch of garbage next to your house?
That electric sports sound is awful and so irritating!! Such a shame you can’t turn it off permanently!
Looking for a “green” replacement for your RS6? Look no further…
Can you say something else than variant reminds me of government ❤
Horrible decision to EV the 718. The lightest, most tracked and track friendly car with mid-engine characteristics and handling with a manual, and Porsche says "we're going to take away all of the stuff you like so you can go faster in a straight line and don't bother trying to track it" Insane. I am sure they are going walk back after sales crater like the Taycan currently is doing, at least in the US.
Taycan is still selling well in Europe. Not great but in this current economical situation no cars are selling well, at least not premium ones. In our country like one new 911 per month or something.
Tesla look
specsavers?
fix pls ur Sound
Sory . Car is crap. Obsolete and Too expensive. I expected more from a Porsche. Even a virtual turbo doesn 't help him.
Horribly overpriced
EVs are dying
ok dude 😂😂
