Underrated Film. Great acting from everyone in it. Keith David really stood out
He was voicing Goliath on the animated series, "Gargoyles" around the time the film came out.
The two opening songs for the movie Clockers are so deep. The visuals are so tragic & touching. So many young people gunned down in the name of the game.
Candy Cane Clockers is deep on that subconscious level

Clockers would've been way different with DeNiro as Rocco and Scorsese directing but as it is it's still in my top 5 Spike's.
Plus Marty and DeNiro made Casino instead. Win Win.

@@elijahlavi7890 Deniro would’ve been perfect as Detective Rocco. In a way I’m glad Spike Lee directed it because he opened the door for John Tuturro to be in the film and do his thing. So underrated!

SEE............This is how we should be having racial discussions here in 2019. I'm already past 30(trust me) and I'm glad I grew up in the era I did, but y'all younger people GOTTA realize there's alot to life, and there's always a chance at a NEW LIFE, as long as you're still breathing.

This is a great movie ! - Got my original VHS copy looks as new as when I bought it on its release
I Saw it way back on its release back in the day - And was plesently suprised on how good it really was - In fact this movie - it got me into this Genre - ( Whatever you call this Genre?) To this Day latest one similar to this genre I watched and is still sittng in my didgibox is "Snowfall"
Followed Spike Lee from seeing this movie - He's a great movie maker ! But all now on Dvd !

Spike knows talent almost all his actors he hired are now academy award & Oscar award winning actors & actresses or gone on to do big things 🙌🏾

One of the kids in Clockers is from Bridgeport Connecticut.. I was in the barbershop as a youngin in 95 and they were clapping for the kids appearances and etc..
In my opinion, Mr. Spike Lee, is THE MASTER STORY TELLER. Well - But that's my story and I'm I'm sticking to it.

Man, imagine a Clockers director’s cut that includes all those scenes that they deemed good but had to be cut for time. Make it a little closer to the novel.

@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc Definitely a tv show. In a perfect world… what if New York Undercover was really the blueprint for a Clockers tv show? They have similar styles and vibes. If only Universal Studios would’ve let Spike Lee release the Director’s Cut version instead that would’ve been amazing because I’ve seen the deleted scenes and they could’ve easily been in the final version.
The way clockers lays out the story a lot like Dostoyevsky did with Crime and Punishment.

I’m trying to imagine who Scorsese would have casted as Strike. I actually like the dynamic of Mekhi and ONYX etc being casted as the Clockers. These guys had the least experience playing against seasoned actors which was true for their characters. Guys who probably never left Brooklyn as opposed to guys who are experienced at what they do; Delroy as a kingpin, Keitel as a NYPD homicide detective, Keith David as a veteran beat cop

@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc it was probably his first [big] role too. Spikes team did a great job casting this. Imagine Scorsese casting the black people the same way Michael Mann cast the black folks in Heat

Scorsese probably would’ve gotten Denzel or Larenz Tate to do the role of Strike. I’m glad Mekhi got it because he’s a great actor!

You can see Spike Lee doesn't trust this guy. He's very careful about what he says. Spike didn't completely speak what was on his mind. His mind said something else while his mouth said the other.
