- I bought a complete stranger's Animal Crossing Population Growing Gamecube memory card from eBay and it had a town save file on it! What could happen? This town of Osyria was SO LOVED! I hope you enjoy this old school animal crossing for gamecube video! I had a lot of fun making this video! I really enjoy making these retro Animal Crossing videos!

The fact that the manekin is not available as a fountain in ACNH is criminal.
It's an actual statue/fountain in Belgium, looks like a little boy taking a wee.
It's called manneken pis tho, the word manneke is Flemish (and old Dutch) for little man. Manneken (with an n) is a more archaic way of writing it. And pis means exactly what you'd think it means.
Fun fact, the word mannequin was derived from this. A mannequin actually just means little man.

i bought my copy of wild world used, and it had a pre existing town which i looked at- they had drawings of b00bs in their custom designs 😭😭

it kinda makes me sad that this memory card was sold off. even if the town was hacked, it certainly was a loved one. I wonder what happened? Maybe the owner grew up and their parents sold it off, maybe they fell on hard times, maybe they just got bored...
with 7 villagers i imagine maybe they visited friends towns often, almost any time that you visited a friend's town one of your villagers would just leave without warning.
also, 17 years since they talked to Pippy, and there was a post dated on the signboard from 2005. Maybe in 2019 they booted up for only a bit?
That might have been the broker booting it up to make sure the game worked before buying it.
Considering the egypt theme I wouldn't be surprised if all the golden shovel trees are for the Golden leaves, fits the aesthetic
I have a theory on the 2019 log ins. I watched an AC video the other day that i think said the glitch for being able to actually play ice climbers and a few other games was only discovered and circulating in 2019, so i think this person went back on their island after ~15 years to try a newly discovered hack/feature
The Golden Shovel was made by burying a regular shovel in the glowing spot. It must have taken this person AGES to get all of those omg. I just started playing OG AC thanks to your videos... I had to get an emulator to play it, but it's been so fun.
Just a heads up, on emulator the NES games don’t actually play. The emulator cannot load them up or at least mine can’t.
@@PeacefulAutistic oh! You’ll have to find another emulator (if you’re on pc) if you can’t save it. Normally we can all save it into the actual emulator and it saves all the data until deleted or overwritten! :)
There's a theme of Egypt with the custom patterns and the custom message saying that a bunch of gods from Egyptian mythology give their blessings.
i wonder if this person's favourite colour was yellow maybe. all the flowers are yellow (or white), that combined with all the golden trees (plus all the dropped shovels around) makes me wonder if they just liked the look of those trees. oh and speaking of, the golden trees would grow when you planted a shovel in a glowing spot.
@BearnabyChan i’d wait until the switch servers shut down for the safest results (account ban, switch bricked ect) but that’ll be a good 10+ years till then
@@jacksmallwood1507 it's def possible to hack your game without bricking or getting banned if you know what you're doing, people got away with hacking in those heart crystal trees in new horizons for a couple months until nintendo caught on, but i think that's only because people were constantly posting about it on social media lol. as long as you keep it low key and keep your switch offline u should be good
22:48 Fun fact: when that message is being displayed, the game is actually trying to scan the memory card for an NES rom! It seems that it was intended for giveaways in which a new game could’ve been loaded onto the player’s card, but these never happened. Hackers have been able to load custom roms there, though!

I used to put shovel trees everywhere too... they are just pretty. The point wasn’t to make golden shovels but just to replace all the trees with golden ones. I made all my money from fishing.

4:35 / 45:41 To answer your question, at a certain time on Saturday, K.K. will show up, it's a tiny little area where he sits down and takes song request, you can find out more about it on the wiki, and I can't get over how amazingly kept this town is, it really makes me want to play this again if I didn't have homework, my mom doesn't use the GameCube anymore but still has it, we use the Wii to play our memory cards since the GameCube can't read the disk anymore but the Wii can. I remember playing this with my mom when I was little, she had convinced me that the animals could hear me reply to them and I always was de-weeding the town.
(22:36) I remember someone writing an article about that. If I recall that article correctly, it was originally intended to let players load specially coded NES ROM files from the GameCube memory card, but that part of the game was scrapped and the NES item that would've linked to one of those files was still in the game but it would get in through glitches.
Haha this island was crazy, took me a while to realize Tooth was a reference to Tutankhamen. Also when you said “They need new horizons” I laughed so hard hahah
Wow, they really had a plan to get a ton of bells easily since they had all that random stuff on the island. If I remember correctly, if you saved the island to the GBA, the islander can pick up any items on the ground and leave bags of bells in their place (which was probably why there was a 30,000 bell bag on the ground). Also, the mismatched mail thing has happened to me several times when I played long ago too. It's most likely a glitch but I always thought it was realistic that you sometimes get delivered someone else's mail!
I'm almost embarrased to admit that in all the years of playing the OG Animal Crossing, I actually didn't know you could get oranges! I just never ended up with a town that had them despite having multiple towns. I was really suprised to see the orange tree in this town, lol. I even pulled my old game guide out to look and there were totally oranges in one image.
Actually it's kind of funny that the oceans of golden shovel trees didn't suprise me but one single orange tree did, lol

I'm still very perplexed by the 7 villagers thing. 😅Like, I'm not sure how you can have so few villagers in your town! I do wonder if they hacked it somehow?
They probably traveled a lot! Villagers tend to move out if you travel a lot
Based on all the scattered items and the golden trees I do think this person used homebrew to edit their town on pc. (Although I don’t understand why they didn’t mess with building positions or anything else too)
I used to do it on new leaf.
I assume they played as a kid in 2005, then in 2019 came back and hacked it, in 2022 came back to look and then sell it.
until proven otherwise, i choose to believe this town belonged to a set of siblings but only one primarily played it (Osirio). but one day one of the other siblings got mad at Osirio and decided to troll them by littering everything with shovels and random items using secret codes/hacks.
but seriously, there's definitely some kind of theme going on probably based on a book or movie and im curious what it is!

Although originally thought to be useless, the regular NES will play any NES ROMs on the memory card. It's thought that this was a feature Nintendo was planning to capitalize on by selling NES games to save to the memory card but later abandoned.
They totally used the golden shovels to pay off all the houses. That has to be why there’s so many trees!
I imagine that with the Ancient Egypt theme going on, the shovels might be indicating archeology or something

I wanted to comment and say how much I love your series that you inspired me to do something similar!!! I grew up playing Wild World on DS as my first Animal Crossing game. So I’ve been going on Ebay and buying different cartridges to see other peoples towns! This series brought so much joy to me that I thought how fun it would be to do that with the game that made me fall in love with animal crossing myself.

It's blank because nintendo had intended to make it so you could play any game you had on a GameCube memory card. But they never finished putting it into the game... so it's basically just a blank game Redd gives you!!

Kay Daisy, I love this series!! This is the best town yet, full of surprises. You made me laugh so many times. I love that one of the character's names was "Tooth" I love it! The mailbox and the piggy bank you were asking about are obtained from having a large Post Office savings account.
Like you, I am an O.G. Animal Crosser. I have been playing since 2002, coincidentally the year I was married, I'm having my 20th wedding anniversary next week. Hahaha! I never realized I've been playing Animal Crossing for my entire marriage. My husband was driven absolutely crazy by the opening music for this game. He generously listens to me babble on about my neighbors and development of my towns. This town is wonderful. Thank you for exploring it so deeply. I have never seen the littler statues for paying off your entire home loan, I was amazed. I must do it in IvyTown, my original town, I'm obsessed with the tiny green one, must have! Please keep doing these videos, they are so fun, my husband and I like you a lot, you are a total Animal Crossing Gem. xo

I’m thinking that they cheated to get all those shovel trees to grow fast, and neglected all the animals so they ended up just moving out. And there’s a lot of bags of 30k bells everywhere which makes me think they used the code from Nooks shop to get multiple bell bags in quick succession. But who knows!
They played for the first time in 2005, so i'm guessing they used to have a legit town until 2019 when the player found a way to cheat items and bells (and remove some villager homes, probably the ones they didn't like lol)
They probably used cheats because IIRC, you can't get Ice Climber through normal play.
Also I just wanted to say I love these videos, they made me go visit my own GC towns again!
Ice Climber could be obtained using an eReader card. Legend of Zelda is in the game files, but requires cheating to obtain.
@@mr_yoru5834 My bad; you're right, the restriction on Ice Climber is that it can't be obtained with a code. I remembered the community back in the day referring to those two games, along with Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros., as the "forbidden four", so I just labelled them as "can't get" in my mind, since I never had an e-Reader!
Btw, the series that Iceai (?) was collecting was the modern series
All these videos makes me want to revisit my old save. We used to play way back my husband, his sister, brother and myself. Our island was called Navel but I don’t remember any villagers or anything else. I had to pause to look in my storage for the GameCube and Animal Crossing but sadly I don’t remember where I put it. Only game I could find was Mario Party 6, not a favorite. I have to continue the hunt later!
The only thing I could think of was selling the golden shovels for a shit ton of money in the game but when I looked it up there wasn't actually any information about prices for a golden shivel in this game, try selling one and see how much it goes for.
The black and white checkerboard set was called Modern back then.

This is definitely the best and most interesting town you have found yet! Man I wish I knew the origins of it. This was so interesting.
I also wish you would go to the post office and check out old villager mail. I used to stash stuff there. Plus I wrote to my townies all the time because it was so fun to see the letters again later when you had forgotten all about them.
And they kept the letters when they moved. Friends were entertained.
I just want to replace my villager in NH yesterday and I got Ankha! Serendipity! I seriously love how many plain shovels there are in the Gyroid for them to sell to their friends.

If you plant a golden tree you always get one golden shovel from it which you can sell to Nook for more bells than fruit. If you cut that tree down and replant one you will have lots of bells by no time.
