Giant Walleyes Only. How to Sharpshoot Big Feeding Walleyes

Catching big walleyes on shield waters often seems like a matter of luck for most anglers, who occasionally stumble upon large fish at their favourite walleye structures. However, there is a way to specifically target the larger fish that have adapted their behaviour due to their size. In a recent conversation on our podcast with Dr. Paul Cooley, an intriguing point was raised. Once walleyes reach a certain size, they can feed on pelagic baitfish, an abundant and nutrient-rich food source. These larger walleyes take full advantage of this newfound opportunity. Although this method may not be action-packed, when you do hook a walleye using this technique, it's almost always significantly larger than average.
