Clematis armandii Apple Blossom, an evergreen climbing fragrant Clematis with almond-scented blooms

Clematis armandii is an evergreen fragrant Clematis with sweetly almond-scented blooms, definitely one of the best scented climbing plants in my garden: even if the fragrance is not very intense, it is still delightful. Clematis armandii is native to China and Burma, and it is widely cultivated in the UK for the beauty not only of the gorgeous flowers, borne in huge numbers on the plant, but also for the beauty of its leaves, evergreen, glossy and leathery, with a bronze colour when they are young, offering a great contrast with the green background of the rest of the foliage. There are different varieties of Clematis armandii, and the cultivar I own is Clematis armandii "Apple Blossom", with pink buds opening to pinkish flowers, that when age become white. This plant blooms in a profusion of flowers between late winter and early spring, so it is really a stunning Clematis for the garden, my plant is still relatively young, but I have seen huge specimens completely covering fences and being completely covered in flowers. The flowers are about 5 cm across, and as mentioned above, the flowers are lightly fragrant, with a sweet scent, similar to almonds, very pleasant. I can definitely recommend this plant to any garden for its beauty and its soft fragrance, but if you are looking for a very fragrant Clematis, that you can smell at least 1 or 2 metres from the plant, than I would rather recommend Clematis "Pixie", the most fragrant Clematis I have ever grown, here is the link to the video I made about Clematis Pixie ( • Clematis " Pixie " : t... ). Clematis armandii can grow up to 6 metres and is at its best when allowed a large space to grow, giving a stunning display of flowers and leaves. It is hardy between USDA 7 and 9, therefore can be grown almost everywhere in the UK. It thrives in full sun and in moist but well drained soil.

Hello, in my personal experience this Clematis can surely tolerate temperature down to - 7 degrees Celsius, in my garden I never had a temperature lower than that, but I found in internet that this species can tolerate down to - 10 degrees Celsius.!!!
