this is literally my dream house! The layout and unique use of spaces, the elevation of different parts of the house. I could see so many possibilities how to decor the interior. LOVE IT

That’s a really awesome house. Loved the whole thing except neon green paint

Gorgeous, especially the stone fireplace. Also love that they preserved the original tile in the bathrooms.

A house to brew a big pot of coffee, bake a batch of oatmeal or sugar cookies, and put some jazz on the stereo. And include some earlier Chicago and Steely Dan.

Beautiful home! The colors may not be for everybody but painted surfaces are easy to repaint. I'm so glad they did not paint the woodwork or mess with the stone fireplace.

Love your channel. Wow, that house is gorgeous but really dark.

Noticed that too. I's probably due to the natural wood ceiling (which I will gladly take) and the green wall as well as dark furniture.
Might not be the best choice if you looking a super bright house.

Do you know the Architect of this home? We have a MCM home built in '51 (with some immediate updates, and more modern updates too) - Architect was (oh shoot! I can't find our old prints! But he was a civil engineer who did some beautiful houses in Rochester Hills area.)

OMG! Your channel is so binge worthy! I LOVE that most of these homes have the original everything! Including the bathrooms! and original wood finishes I grew up in gem just like these, in St. Louis

The original bathrooms are amazing. So many mid century houses have had the bathrooms terribly remodeled in the years past. I love pink or pink and black tile bathrooms with mid century fixtures.

@@marylclc1269 My maternal Grandma had black and yellow in the 1/2 bath, pink and grey tile with swans etched into the bathe/shower surround and a HUGE glass brick window clad in the pink and grey tiles. It was phenomenal. My paternal Grandma had the big 4 inch blue and green tiles in one bath (my favorite), pink in the other. They don't make them like that anymore. It breaks my heart when they're destroyed.

@@JoeyMcSmokey I agree fully. It''s so cool you have those memories of some of the best houses. Not much more sad in realty than when people destroy a perfectly designed bath.
My grandmother had a house built in the mid 1950s with sea foam green and black tiles in one bathroom and pink tiles and fixtures in the powder room. The home I lived in in grammar school had a beautiful pink and black tiled bathroom, with an arch over the bathtub.. The sink was stunningly mid century, chrome and porcelain, although in 1968, when we moved in, we didn't call it "mid-century." My favorite thing in those bathrooms was the spring loaded little steel door that you pushed and it spun around to hold a glass and your toothbrushes. My dad designed a Tiki dining room in that house. My mother hated it, but I loved it!
My husband and I are looking forward to building a brand new mid-mod home from the ground up, with the bathrooms like this, single slab wood panels all over the house, our dream kitchen, fireplaces and more. I do hope we are able to do it. We've been thinking of building and recently he said, "Let's build a mid century type house." and I am so excited. But, we'll need to buy land (he's retiring, I'm not ready yet) and stay close to Chicago so I can keep working.
We'll have to sell our Chicago Bungalow, which will make me cry. Sadly, it was "bungled" by several of the previous owners and doesn't have much of the original charm. I need that charm back again. Even if we have to build it from scratch.
Building that mid-mod home is a dream I hope comes true. :) I hope you get your dream house, as well!

More American homes should be like that. These days homes are built cheap....new walls are made of cheap plywood, with siding stickers on them.

Design...design is what we've completely lost. That refrigerator was revolting to see in such a wonderfully modern (real modern not currently 2021 modern) kitchen. Horrible site, gastly.

These mid-century homes were designed for the working people in the 1950's but quality-wise they are better built that the $750K/$1 million houses that you will find on the east and west coast.

@@zeus6662 I remember the days when everything had that goal of touch. For the people, automobiles for the citizens to have comfort, couch to perfectly correct the posture and ease the companion using it, suits fit for you to wear with style and also the taper a warm bed offers on a cold night. I could go on, I remember allll the advertisments, my brother was away at war in the 1940s, my parents and I at home with my sister both young waiting for him to return and such. We had tons of free time, playing outside, reading fantastic detailed works of advertisment artistry, collecting automobiles cards, buying fancy toy cars such as a 1935 Airflow desoto and a ton of tootsie toys. We lived a great life, the 1950s my favorite teen years.

The garish decor is a real detraction from the clean lines of the architecture.
