Where I used to live in SoCal, this track ran near my house! I watched them build it in the late 60s.

This sub thru Soledad Canyon to Palmdale was the SP inland line to Bakersfield and Central Valley. It pre dates the SP Cajon sub that was built in the late 60’s (?). At that time UP, Santa Fe and SP had lines thru Cajon.
