Let's say that you put an arm down at a distance from the center that would contact a piece of plastic sticking up and therefore making a noise as it rotated. You could say that the wind speed is so many clicks per minute or per second. You could relate the distance from center to the speed of rotation for more advanced students. Asking questions and letting the kids brainstorm. Then this would be worth something.
Seriously? While this is no worse than many other videos out there, it is no better either. Oh sure you show us how to make a spinning thing, but it is not a device used to measure unless you include HOW to use it to measure. This is just part of the dumbing down of America. Kids are smarter than is given credit for. How about some attempt to explain how to actually measure the wind speed? Even if you didn't use a standard unit of measurement it would be much better than this.

I'd like to make this with my 3rd Grade students. What size and kind of ball did you use?
Hi Mary! I used this on my 3rd grade as well. I used the regular plastic balls you can find in a ball pit, maybe around 5-6 cm in diameter.
@@HungrySciANNtist2020 GREAT! THANK YOU!
