Well fighting Colby will bring him more money. Masvidal isnt even ranked top 10 and wont be favored in the Burns fight. Also judging from the comments when it comes to the business side most ppl say pay them more money but they also usually dismess the actual business side in depth.

Colby needs a rivalry to sell a fight. His ONLY big PPV main event was his 2nd fight against Usman. No one will care about Colby vs Leon.
But Leon vs Masvidal actually has a story behind it. And he's a far more favorable matchup. Colby has ducked literally every single current contender at 170, while Leon was constantly getting ducked and passed over. I don't blame him for telling Colby to F off while preferring the more favorable matchup that'll pay him more money...

@@jirrellj Nothing sacrificed. Belal is coming off beating #15. Never heard of someone getting a title shot off beating #15. The other issue is Brady didn't look very good in that fight which hurt Belal. Brady looked he should be #15. He didn't look like a top 10 guy even.
Leon wanted this bad. He was very focussed and sharp throughout the fight.
He low-key needed the win as well because had he lost especially a decisive one his head shot win would have been written off as a fluke. This win removes all doubt and vindicates the claim that Leon (as was all fighters at the event other than Usman) was compromised from the high-altitude in Utah.
Edwards is not saying masvidal deserves a title shot he just wants revenge and wants to whoop his ass for the sneak punch

What baffles me most that NOBODY SEEMS TO MENTION... is how can they spring a new opponent on you at the last second like that? You've had no time to prepare for that opponent! Colby had time to prepare as he knew he'd be facing one of them, whereas Leon or Kamaru didn't have time to prepare for Colby.
Colby had a days notice to come in to weigh in on Tuesday fight week.
Or if Leon dropped out we would of had to watch colby lose to usman for a third time 😂

Out of the top 5 of who deserves a title shot, Colby is at the bottom of the list. First being Belal, Khamzat, and Burns. Colby needs to fight someone else for a contender fight. Also, Leon beats Colby easily. People talk about his wrestling but he has a 43% takedown accuracy. And has only landed 48 out of 146 takedowns. There is no threat to Leon in the striking from Colby, as in power or anything. You gotta remember Leon went through 3 training camps for Chimaev's wrestling and went through 2 training camps for Usman's wrestling. Colby hasn't been active for a long time, he's getting older, and etc. Leon is young and hungry.

Even when Gilbert did (And Colby avoided him too, although Gilbert called him out 3 times In his last 4 fights In 4 months).

@@Antywan You dont have to bro theres plenty of good streams, however colby is actually a really good submission artist and has the potential to sub leon and he tends to leave his back open which is perfect for COlby the D1 wrestler, he just has to survive to about the 3rd and 4th rds , after that leon takes the cake imo, but its a close fight cuz colby has great cardio and alot of output, plus leon tends to back away to the cage to avoid hits which colby can use to shoot into a td.. its gonna be a great technical fight

Colby said khamzat didn't want it, khamzat said Sean shelby called him 4 times about the fight and he said yes everytime. There's no proof for either side. My point is regardless of that colby is still 2-2 since 2019. In what world does that warrant a title shot? Is Khamzat the only guy in the division?

We all know Dana told Colby he’d get a title shot if he didn’t go as hard on Masvidal. Masvidal signed a 7 fight deal and has had only 1 of those fights. Colby could ruin him or worse put him in jail which Dana dosent want. So he’s like go easy on him and you can have the next title shot. On the flip side of their ending conversation. I have to completely disagree. How, If masvidal & Covington's both last fight, was fighting each other over a year ago in March 2022, is the rationale, Masvidal. Masvidal is ranked 11 with 3 losses in a row. Covington has sat at the top of # 1 for a looong time, clearing out all the welterweights.
Let's not forget, Jones was gone for 3 YEARS, 3 times the amount Colby & Jorge have been gone & Jones went straight to a title shot. Periera fought 2 fights in the UFC & got a title shot.
It's also a little funny to me that Khamzat never got mentioned. I love Edwards, but I don't think he wants it with Colby or Khamzat.
However, to be fair, at the spectacular level Edwards has improved, which to me is un-freaking-real, I think he can definitely beat Covington.
Since Edwards improved his takedown defense so well. His preparation for Usman, will COMPLETELY apply to Covington, since Colby has the same cardio & "wet blanket style."
My opinion, if not Covington, then definitely Belal. He earned it. In 14 fights, he's lost once & 1 NC which was the eye poke from Edwards.
Also to be fair, the ranking system & who gets a title shot rationale in the UFC has never made ANY sense to me.
