"Larger than usual" crowds on Saturday at the WM Phoenix Open caused some changes for fans. 12News journalist Bianca Buono speaks with some fans about the day.
I was there. Never seen so many people so drunk. It was chaos. People falling down everywhere, whole sets of porta potties overflowing. Had a great time. Back next year.
My favorite golf tourney. The PGA needs more like this. Most tourneys are stuffy and boring. The Phoenix Open is crazy and perfect for Super Bowl weekend. Keep it up.
People acting like animals and their over-excessive behavior always ruin it in the end. You can have a great time w/o acting a fool people. We gotta start maturing as people and quick 🙏
This tournament is a disgrace and a stain on the PGA and professional golf. But of course, in today's American culture it is acceptable to get drunk and act like a boorish hooligan.
Dude, this is literally the adult behavior at every major US sports event and has been for decades. Drunks have loaded the stands of MLB, NHL, NFL and NBA stadiums literally for decades. They make way too much money off selling a $12 beer to a collection of idiots to stop it. LOL Watching a golf match is the equivalent to watching grass grow. 😆😀
@@keisukeyoshida2839 if that is truly the case it is only because our culture is rotting. Golf is a dying sport?? How so, please provide evidence. I will provide to you how golf is not dying, it is growing and expanding. We now have over twenty professional golf tour circuits - The PGA, and LPGA, LIV, Korn Ferry, World Tour, The Champions just to name the more popular ones. The PGA just announced a $3.2 Billion equity agreement with Strategic Sports Group. The golf equipment market in the US alone surpassed $13 Billion in 2023. New golf course construction levels are now higher than pre-pandemic levels. I could go on, but you probably don't care. You would just rather wallow in your blissful ignorance and keep making baseless inane statements.
lol. This event had 185,000 people there. LIV doesn’t have that problem. About 85 people there. And LIV modeled many of their tournaments after the Phoenix Open promoting cheap beer and loud music. Try again.
@@Macattack11639 Only reason no one is at LIV is because they don’t have a big presence in the United States yet. You can’t when PGA controls everything. If you pay attention to the TH-cam golf community the trend is towards the direction of LIV and not the PGA. The good good tournament last week was a glimpse of what the youth want; team golf, music, and no seriousness. The sponsors will have to bend to the next generation. The old PGA model is dying dinosaur
@@Tozer746 I agree with you 100%. LIV is next generation for sure. Don’t see the need for music but whatever. IMO, loudness is attention seeking. I’ll just watch the majors now. Watched LIV Saturday. Big names, but not much legacy to play for. Definitely don’t think the TV leaderboard is good. Even my wife was like wth is that? And she loves golf.
@@Macattack11639 I agree. I think that is why they put in the team concept. My kid plays PGA jr league and its team based which the kids love. I even see kids now wearing 4aces or crushers hats so LIV may have something with the teams angle. I know the kids love Good Good, Bryan Brothers and the host of other TH-cam golfers. All they do are 2v2 or 3v3. Rarely do you see them competing against each other individually. PGA will never have another Tiger so something has to change for the sponsors to keep committing so much money.
Booze? Maybe that's what LIV really needs to finally get some fans to start paying back all that oil money going to the LIV players. This Phoenix event is simply a spectacle...and it just gets bigger every single years...like the Superbowl of non-Major weeks on the PGA Tour.
The vast majority only interested in 24hr alcohol party not one bit interested in who holes in one or never at all! Time for the shutters on this yearly fiasco!

Sounds 🔥
Sounds like a great place for idiots to hang out with each other. LOL
sound like it was a freaking good time. this might be a tradition
Here's a radical concept: How about basing the number of tickets sold on the number of people you can handle?!
They stopped checking tickets and let 2x the people in for free.
I know you won’t believe this but the Phoenix Open was, at one time an actual golf tournament.
THANK YOU
80% people tryna booze 20% golf fans 😂🤦♂️
Less than 20 bro it’s dumb
Amazing to be part of that record breaking crowd today
😂😂
Moron
Ridiculous
Sloppy drunk chaos is not all that fun.
Bread and circuses....
I was just going to say that. People wake tf up!!
Absolutely.

That's what happens when you allow a bunch of frat guys to get as drunk as they want and make it a party.
Golf tournament riots. New national low!
Sounds like hole 16 needs to be a completely separate gate and entry point with a secure fence line so not to go over capacity.
They watching golf ? Thats crazy hell no what a wasted day !
That's some b.s..i would have been one to help make more room by leaving.
Ken and Karen having a good time.. 😂
Wasted management open
If they didn't encourage and provide for this type of atmosphère, maybe it wouldn't happen. Df
Sounds like waste management going downhill when fans don’t get what they want. They quit coming bad. News travels faster than good news.
Welcome to …
Waste’d Management Phoenix Open!
Lol🍻🤣
I blame Clue Heywood.
First world problems……
Don't worry Randy, we're fast becoming 3rd world
This is Happy Gilmore levels of fan interaction 🤣 and I think it’s hilarious, but I’m also not a huge fan of golf.
Was Happy Gilmore golfing today?
That is way too busy for a golf tournament. Couldn’t even enjoy any pro golf at that point!
People acting like animals and their over-excessive behavior always ruin it in the end. You can have a great time w/o acting a fool people. We gotta start maturing as people and quick 🙏
LMAO
Imagine getting super drunk to watch people hit golf balls…. Might as well go watch people drive in circles.
All the excitement of watching grass grow. That’s golf. 😀
Worth it just to see a couple of upper-crusters shouting, “Worldstar, Bro! Worldstar! Represent Stamford!”
They have to drink. There's no golf. Everyone's gone to LIV.
What about the last 10 years before LIV existed? Whoopsie. LIV promoting cheap beer and music too. If you act up they bury you in the desert 😂
Meanwhile PGA fans complaining about how loud and loose LIV golf is....
LIV sells beer
Lol
Nah if you want to get wild WM Phoenix Open is🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
