Hi Ana, Years ago I built my 6 year old daughter a 1/12 scale 2 story doll house. I wired it for electricity. The unit was battery operated. She had it for years then we lost it when our home was flooded under 4 feet of water.
I now work in much small scale. I build villages. The size of Dollar Tree's little Christmas houses. I was hoping to be able to buy 2 of the yellow houses and 2 of the post offices. They sold out before I could. Was able to get 3 of the bakeries that's all they had left.
I have the same size houses in ceramic. What I do is when I can find the houses and building in this size I buy a number of them either in ceramic or plastic and change the facades on them so they are completely different looking building. No one has been able to tell they were ever the same building.
I have been working off and on this week changing 2 of the bakeries into a Court House and City Hall. I take off all the windows and make a thin cardboard templates that will fit the fronts of the building. Once it fits perfectly I lay it out on very thin wood and cut it out with an exacto knife.. Once I get a flat surface to work with I start designing what I want my new building to look like. I draw it all out so I can actually visualize the out come.
My Court House I added an one inch bump out on the front two stories tall. Then I started cutting a fitting wood trim thinner than a pencil lead. I change the roof lines as well.
The second bakery is my City Hall I added an arch type roof line over the top window. It now has a Spanish looking facade. It will take me another week or two to finish these two building. Once I finish the buildings I paint them with matte paint so they look like the ceramic ones.
In 1995 I built my sister in law a sea side village on a 36 inch long pier, I made fishing nets hanging off the front of the pier. Made a one inch tall man fishing with a tiny fish on his line. I made tiny people walking and sitting on the pier out of expoxy clay. I even made a tiny pelican setting on top of one of the pier post. All the shops and building represent our family members. I even painted a tiny 172 Cessna air plane in the sky. It represents my husband because that is what he flew and night club for him. I had a craft shop, one of his sisters had a flower shop, his nephew had a sporting good store with boat dealership. There was 10 building all together on the pier. A tiny drop off post office thing. The building weren't over 4 inches tall. I made it so when you looked through the window you could see what was inside each of the buildings. It took me 3 months working on it every day for her Christmas gift. O,h it had tiny light up Christmas lights. It is displayed in her sun room.

Cute finds! I love to see what you get, although I don't do dollhouses I have 3 big printers box/drawers made into wall decor, I fill with miniatures I pick up on travels & of things we like!

Really cute stuff I always loved watching you unbox your miniatures I want to see some tours again of your doll houses I really want to start a real doll house for my granddaughter I might be able to find a used one online so far we have shoe boxes that were turning into doll houses with just my scrapbook paper and stuff like that and just our imaginations but I would love to make it more real so she'll get more enjoyment out of it while she's still young enough she's 11 and she still loves the dolls and making the doll houses and doing crafts with Grandma I am so grateful for that cuz my other two Grandkids they're over it now my oldest Grandson is turning 16 tomorrow and my second-oldest Granddaughter is 14 neither one of them want to do crafts anymore it's so sad when that happens although my 14 year old Granddaughter said she would like to make Christmas cards with miso that's a plus. I was wondering do you get anything if people buy from the companies you refer us to or talk to us about I should say also I wonder if they would give us any discount as your subscribers it's worth a try anyway right... LOL one last thing I can't do it this month because of Christmas and pretty much broke already... Lol but if you wanted to next month I can buy one of those plants from you for my Granddaughter she would love putting it together that's if you want to let me know. 😊
