Hey Garsh, Thanks for the Mention❤❤❤ Gurrrl we both going back to those teas this year because I plan to go back to my diy recipes that I use to use back then. After much struggle to ketch it I finally have a hibiscus tree now so I will be using some hibiscus too. We have some good herbs accessible in Jam so I am excited about those too. Hey yes and no. Some Caribbean countries... (ik of Jamaica for sure cause that's where I live), call the roselle hibiscus plant, 'sorrel'. The scientific name for it is roselle hibiscus but we call it sorrel (we tend to call some things by a different name). We make a nice red drink from the roselle hibiscus aka sorrel and drink it during Christmas. The other hibiscus plants with the red flowers, white, yellow (we have a lot of different variations) we call them hibiscus..and we make teas from those too. Some of us like myself use the leaves in our hair. Make a drink from it. While the other hibiscus plants are referred to as hibiscus, and we make tea from the flowers of that too (in Jamaica)..so the ones I'm referring to is this one 🌺.
I have the plants where I live, so I just go outside and pick the leaves and flowers. Some Jamaican stores on Instagram, earthelements, dinaturalsbulk, wholesale craft supplies and earthcraftersja have powder, you could try Amazon as well
@annalisemorris129 no I don't usually dry them, never tried to before 🤔. When I pick the leaves, I'll wash them, add them to some purified water or boiled water...and tear and squeeze them. The water will get a little 'soapy' and will Sud a bit..and it will also be slimy ..and have a similar consistency to okra when you boil it in water. I strain that and use the liquid in my hair. If I want to store it, I'll add a few drops of essential oil and use it within 2 days. But for me.. it seems to work best when I use it all within a day of making it
@annalisemorris129 the powder ... u could probably make a tea from it. I've never used the powder before but I think you can make a nice hair masque from it..or tea and apply it onto your scalp and hair
