but the occourance of deadlock was not explained properly, it shold be like: if P4 takes S4 and is preempted, then eventually all the processes woul be in deadlock state without the need to be preempted.
I apologize, even while commenting, I made mistake, you are making hundreds of videos, some mistakes, were bound to happen. Well done, I am preparing my exams from here.
@@YashPokharel Dude you just confused me after I had a clear understanding of the concept, either explain in a proper way, or kindly delete this series of confusing comments, it would be better for other viewers.
When I was in class, I didn't understand a single thing in this dining philosophy problem but after watching you Sir, I can now even teach my professor in a better way. It's the best explanation I have ever heard of. Respect. Thanks.
My professor took 2 classes to explain this but even the class toppers could not understand anything. The number of views channels like these have speaks volumes of the education system students are trapped in. We also need to understand that our professors are also victims of this rot-learning system. It's a vicious cycle. Only teachers like you are the power that will break this cycle and bring enjoyment, joy and curiosity into learning. Thank you so much, sir! From adding subtitles to being precise yet clear, you are very VERY inspiring. Sending prayers from our side. 🙏🙏
It takes 35 mins but if we kept patience then its a perfect explanation and at the end of video it is look like very interesting. Thank you sir for grt effort for such classical IPC Problems. After watching it i recommend viewrs to watch the andrew tanenbaum book for process synchronisation its awesome.
This is one of the most amazing video lectures I have seen so far! I have already referred to the dbms playlist and here I am for OS. Thank you for so much for detailed and easy explanation :)
This is the best video and explantion possible on internet. Believe me as after reading many articles and watching many videos I came to this conclusion.
Everyone explain it by simple saying. But U explain it with explain.Love programming and ur explain also. Now I can write it in my exam.Thank u sir a lot.
just marvelous lecture. I was stuck with this philosophers problem. i searched a lot on youtube, but not found any clear illustration. but after watching yours i am happy now. thanks a lot
I don't understand hindi but I'm still able to understand this video just because the way you teach is beyond words❤️ great work 😊🔥 How can we solve this problem using monitors ?
great explanation...but can't the two wait & signal instructions be combined into a single line so that each philosopher can either take 2 forks or none, enter the CS (if taken both forks), and release both forks? thus eliminating the chance of taking 1 fork and waiting for the other
i just listen this topic in class lecture and forgot after that now when exams are on the way , today i understand this in one go ..........thanku gate smashers
thanks a lot sir. your explanation is really nice in gate 96 a question was asked on this i saw that on book but the options were not relevant while the explanation was. so couldn't figure out which was was correct option Q: A solution to the dining philosopher problem which avoids deadlock is : options : a. ensure that all philosophers pick up the left fork before the right fork b. ensure that all philosophers pick up the right fork before the left fork c. ensure that one particular philosophers picks up the left fork before the right fork, and that all other philosophers pick up the right fork before the left fork d. none of these There was also an explanation and that was right. but idk which option to choose. the book has given option "b" as correct
I seen lakhs of diff videos,, but giving my first comment to this video,, actually I dont know single hindi word, but injecting every single piece,, thank you is the simple word to these videos,, but thank you sooooo much,,
Amazing job! I have one doubt though, you mentioned that there can be more then one philosopher in the critical section, considering the food as critical section. As per my understanding in this problem the chopsticks/fork is the critical section and not the food. What are your thoughts?
I don't even know Hindi still, I have understood the concept better than it was taught in class. Very good sir. Can't wait to watch more of your videos
Good explanation. There is also asymmetric solution to this problem where odd numbered philosopher picks up first left chopstick and then right chopstick. Whereas, an even numbered philosopher first picks up right chopstick and then left chopstick

but the occourance of deadlock was not explained properly, it shold be like: if P4 takes S4 and is preempted, then eventually all the processes woul be in deadlock state without the need to be preempted.
or if if u start with P0, the deadlock starts like p0,p4,p3,p2,p1

in gate 96 a question was asked on this i saw that on book
but the options were not relevant while the explanation was. so couldn't figure out which was was correct option
Q: A solution to the dining philosopher problem which avoids deadlock is :
options :
a. ensure that all philosophers pick up the left fork before the right fork
b. ensure that all philosophers pick up the right fork before the left fork
c. ensure that one particular philosophers picks up the left fork before the right fork, and that all other philosophers pick up the right fork before the left fork
d. none of these
There was also an explanation and that was right. but idk which option to choose.
the book has given option "b" as correct
The correct option is C
