Thank you, Chuck. I bought my strap cutter in 2009 and changed my blade a few times. Somehow, I turned the handle and has not been working right, got it's turned around now, big thank you.

Just a little info on reading what is written on the back side of a hide, some new crafters may like this information explained.

Great video, thanks Chuck! I learned a lot!
You need to be super careful but you can also strop your razor blades when you feel them start to fight the leather.

Great Video. Thanks. I would be interested in a video about turned bags. And especially how to select leather for it in regards to thickness and temper

You could insert a threaded tube in that old one and epoxy it in. It would probably last another 10 years.

Excellent information for new comers and then there’s older guys like me that forget things from time to time.

Thank you for doing this video! I just got my strap cutter and I'm excited to use it--this is very helpful! I would love to see more helpful hints on cutting softer leather, as I have a bag full of scrap leather in different weights.

A necessity for any shop. Love mine. If you have ever tried cutting consistent straps with just a straight edge you know why!😂

Hey Chuck! Awesome tips. 18 years and I'm still learning from ya! Do you mind maybe touching on draw or plough gauges some time?

I recently purchased a wooden strap cutter from Weaver, and it lacks the two metal brackets that go under the screws where the blade loads. Did I get a product that's missing parts, or is this a variant of the design? Edit: I just saw towards the end of the video that the "older model" is exactly like the one I got, complete with the disc portion that doesn't screw in. I simply got one of the older models. 👍

I need help making a sheath for my corner knife. The 2 times I’ve tried it ends up cutting them to pieces bc of the blade shape

Unrelated to the video, how to you keep your white thread white when stitching? Every time I use white thread my stitch line is grayish white by the time I’m done. I’ve tried keeping it off the ground, my hands are clean. It just won’t stay white. Thank you.

Chuck, do you have any videos on jointing leather components to waxed canvas components?
My specific case as an example so you can get an idea of why I'm asking. I am tackling a "military rucksack" inspired backpack with brown leather and green waxed doek canvas. I want the bottom of the gusset to be leather but the long upright spans of the gusset to be in waxed canvas. Do you have any advice/videos on how to get the best results?
I'd hate to run myself into a problen and trash a good piece of leather simply by not asking for advice.

      Specific problem In worried about:
I'm thinking that if I were wanting a "3 piece" gusset of waxed canvas side, leather turn and bottom, then waxed canvas other side that I really need to do it as a FIVE piece gusset with waxed canvas left gusset, leather bottom left side gusset Frenched to a leather bottom gusset at the turn Frenched to a leather bottom right side gusset at the right turn then married up to the waxed canvas right side.
I don't want there to be a visible seam along the bottom corner. I want the leather portion of the gusset to look like it is turning the corner, but I've never tried to do that before and I'm not even sure if one seam per side would even give me enough of a turn to not look angular when done.
I hope this helps explain my problem and why I'm nervous about "just winging it."
