  • Today's drive was special, this route brings back a lot of nostalgia. My father owned a Premier Padmini when I was a child, during the monsoon, he would take us along this street to enjoy the rains.
The history of Residency goes like, the resident administrator appointed by the British to oversee the activities in the Cantonment was located here, so it came to be known as 'Residency Road'. However, the old houses no longer remain.
The route starts from Lal Bagh circle to Mayo Hall, it passes through several landmarks of Bangalore of the by gone era. Lal Bagh Circle is right behind us, as we drive through Kengal Hannumantha Road, crossing the Olympic Trophies and Sports store over the Mission Road Flyover, as we drive down to Residency Road. On Residency Road, we cross the Bangalore Club and the Bishop Cotton Complex. We then make our way to St. Joseph Collage, cutting across Brigade Road Signal and finally reaching Mayo Hall, which is a District Court.
Of course the Residency has been redeveloped, and the development is the redesigned footpaths and more greenery planted along the way. The Smart Bangalore project has also taken most electrical and other cables underground and with improved drainage to avoid water clogging during rains.
Traffic on this road has historically been heavy and continues to be so to this day.
As always my gratitude goes to the civic bodies of the city, state and the country. Without whom a citizen like me would not have been able to shoot this video. A thank you to TH-cam for providing me with the platform.
Thank you for your time and please Subscribe, Like, Share and Comment to the video.
