Their chemistry is out of this world. The tensions and the stares they gave each other, longing to be together ugh it’s so real and they gave me all kinds of feelings while watching it:(( I don’t think I would be able to find a show as good as YR with these two. Their acting is superb!
The maturity of the heartstopper characters is what makes the show so implausible to me. If you want to write mature characters, don't write a teen drama but a show about people in their thirties or fourties.

(Like obviously in an extreme form with him being crown prince, but still 🤣🤣🤣🤣) Young Royals never really made a big deal out of the fact that it was a gay couple, they never really discussed it the way heartstoppers do. There weren't even really a conversation about Wilhelm coming out, it kinda just was. Where Heartstoppers focused a lot on the coming out aspect. So completely different shows that touch on different aspects. Young royals is way less cringe in my opinion than Heartstoppers 😐😐
They definitely make it look all real between them, and even if they are hot for each other, I just couldn't imagine how they can do those scenes so well when you know there is a camera man just a few feet from them and others nearby too. They did an amazing job.
They talked about this that it's not exactly you anymore. It's someone else, the character. And they talked how stressed they were in S1 with this. That's why first kiss was so good. Not only Simon and Wille are stressed and not sure but also Omar and Edvin because this was their first intimacy thing to film together
been rewatching all seasons together 3 times already. I don't know if I could move on. It took me 7 months to move on from RWRB. I don't know how long this would take me but I bet it would be more than a year too unless something can fill that void.

Comparing _Young Royals_ to _Heartstopper_ in their acting and stories: For me, _Young Royals_ is like a full steak dinner while _Heartstopper_ is like being at a fair and eating cotton candy --- just hot air that's fun to bite into, but many times too sweet [for reality].
Sort of but I see it this way: Heartstopper isn’t cotton candy but a meal of basic foods for those who need something simpler because they are just getting into food. They need to test the waters and find what they like. There is nothing too complex or spicy. Nothing hard to swallow because they need to be eased in. Because one is meant for a younger audience to introduce them to LGBT stories that are mature enough for them. They need to see characters acting more innocent to understand that LGBT love is no more overtly sexual than straight cis love, an unfortunate stereotype. Young Royals is for an audience that can handle the more adult story lines, and understand that sex and love is a complex topic and not a perversion.

I love both shows equally. For those criticizing Heartstopper as unrealistic, thats not necessarily true. Everyone has a different lived experience and mine was honestly closer to Heartstopper.
Agreed. In Heartstopper, it was two boys in a public high school. Very realistic. In Young Royals, it was one typical boy and the (crown) prince of the country, where there were strict rules at the private boarding school they attended, PLUS the additional stresses of what was expected of Wilhelm in his capacity as a royal. It's easy to see how all of that can lead to more frustration as Wilhelm and Simon desperately try to find time alone for any length of time.
Wilhelm loved ❤ Simon more. Simon's character at some point I found selfish. Wilhelm did anything n everything to stay with Simon. With all that being said - Young royals is a gem- I paid for Netflix subscription only to watch this show. Was totally worth it. Their chemistry was 🔥. Loved them. Lastly, when Wilhelm was struggling with the situations he was put in he was almost having emotional breakdown, Simon chose to leave him. It broke my heart I didn't like the last episodes and the ending, the way it was written. I felt really bad for Wilhelm.

In FACT (Seasons 1 & 2) the protagonists *even specifically talk* about "not going any further than kissing." That does the younger gays no help at all. And I'm not saying they should go out and jump on anyone they are attracted to at school or the mall, for example [and don't get me started on the *social aspects* of going to churches for many of them]. No, you need to learn what real education is before you post something like what you did.

To me and for millions of other younger gays [who *know* they're gay], that's NOT "education." _Heartstopper_ can be and is certainly, entertaining, for sure, but not educational for gays who are coming to grips being gay (or even bisexual). Again, I'm talking about tweens/young teens from maybe 12 through 16 who recognize that they are *sexually attracted* to those of the same gender/sex. Except for some "feel-good" moments [by some paid actors who offer some "feel-good" moments], it offers *no real education about being gay/bisexual* to satisfy them and learn more about themselves.
Why do I say this? Because _Heartstopper_ offers *nothing* about how, why and what to do about these teens who are experiencing real urges and feelings toward some of their peers who they desperately want -- no, need! -- to meet and talk about these things with without being harrassed or even worse. And, yes, I'm talking about *real "below-the-waist" education* that is the absolute heart of why people are even gay in the first place -- and I'm not talking about porn. 99.x% of all visual entertainment means are more concerned (read: lawsuit fear) of going against most (if not all) countries' corporate and "religious" doctrines of talking about real sexual subjects (getting past the kissing). In FACT (Seasons 1 & 2) the protagonists *even specifically talk* about "not going any further than kissing."
That does the younger gays no help at all. And I'm not saying they should go out and jump on anyone they are attracted to at school or the mall, for example [and don't get me started on the *social aspects* of going to churches for many of them].
No, you need to learn what real education is before you post something like what you did.
