Oh my...the timing of your video was perfect (and a bit weird) for me. Just a few days ago, I ordered that same brand of pumice to use as an amendment to my houseplant potting soil. I've never tried semi-hydroponics before nor have I ever used pumice. Last night, I started wondering if pumice would work as a medium, specifically for some of small succulents. This morning, I see the notification for your video and now I have my answer! You have given me the courage to try this out and see how it goes. Will probably start with the string of bananas cuttings that I have already rooted in water. Also have a bunch of pothos cuttings rooted in water that I will put in the pumice as my first steps into semi-hydro but need to watch your other how-to videos first.
I need to get some of the volcanic for all of our little cacti and succulents. So glad that you mentioned that. I think this will be a game changer for us and how terrible our indoor plants are doing. Thank you!!!
I have converted some of my indoor succulents to Leca and they are doing amazing. They had no inn growth and I think were not getting enough water previously but in Leca are thriving. I even got some Aeonium cuttings to root which didn't do ANYTHING outside in soil. I am going to continue experimenting with Leca and succulents to see how they do. Thanks for sharing and stay blessed🤗👍❤.
@@princejover9488 I'm doing semi- hydroponic with the General hydroponic trio pack. I as so excited to see the roots on the Aeonium since they just weren't rooting in soil for me this time and typically do. Are you using Leca for any of your plants?
@@Uneedmoremeds I have most of my orchids in SHS at the moment but one of my orchids in it died so I was looking for ideas on what to do with the Semi-hydro set-up and it's also a good timing because I took some cuttings of my Kalanchoe , so I tried drilling the hole of the pot and added soil to the LECA then I just stuck the cuttings in it hoping it would root LOL ... I never knew semi-hydro would work for Succulents tho so I might try in the future too.😊
Hello Rachel and all🤗 I use pumice on top of my plants (1+ inches) with soil to keep away fungus gnats and have seen some videos where only pumice is used as the medium❤️❤️ Right on time!! My question, why am I getting fungus gnats in LECA. I got the Easygrohydro kit (❤️🥰❤️) trans my plant and the ZZ has fg’s😤 Bone dry on top but moved to check water in res and WAM all the gnats! Washed and doused with hydrogen peroxide but left no water in res till tomm. But any reason why I got them? Like you I hate them and why I’m switching to LECA. Have a great day planting🤗
So yes so anytime you see anything flying it’s going to be there because Roots are rotting- every time you start a new plant in LECA the first three weeks you’re going to have rotting roots and then new roots growing down into the pebbles-this does not necessarily mean the whole plant is rotting but just less water is better -starve out the rot as much as you can but the gnats come when there’s a smell of the rotting material-If I see one it just reminds me don’t water yet
Hi I love your channel! I converted almost all of my house plants to LECA about one week ago and most are struggling. 2 of my pothos lost leafs and old brown roots and look great but my neon pothos looks sad and droopy and just won’t do anything. My majestic palm literally died like turned pale and crispy dead 😭 my elephant ear seems fine for now just a few light leaf tips and my money tree has a few droopy leaves.... My snake plants look ok, just like one soft leaf. My fiddle leaf fig looks like she has root rot. She’s got brown spots, droopy leaves. I rinsed the leca off with her still in it. Then put some root rot treatment and way less water at the bottom. Not sure if I should keep her in LECA. Sorry I have so many and I’m trying to remember them all to tell you what they are doing. Any thoughts or tips?
If I were you I would have no water in the bottom for the first month just let the water go through and then let the pebbles completely dry out before watering again
Pretty In Plants Thank you for the quick reply! Ok I will dump all the water out of all of them as soon as I get home. Hopefully I don’t kill any of them and can still save them.
Pretty In Plants So for my first month no water in bottoms just letting my water with my plant food mixed together maybe every 2 weeks?? Do you pull the old roots off & cleanse everything out once the old roots start dying and the new roots are forming? I’m noticing new white skinny long roots on some of the plants under the brown mushy old roots
Hello! I was wondering, to start all you do is convert the succulents with pumice and leca and mist with super thrive once a week that's it? Water once a month? No water reserve drip tray with water for succulents? No foliage pro 9-3-6?Thanks! Oh and which segment has your super thrive measurements for the spritzer?
Hi Cindy! Foliar spray is 2 drops per cup water...that bottle then is 6 drops and the rest water of the SUPERThrive. My succulents and sansevierias and cactus all DO have a reservoir....I just take it easy until their roots are really popping out before giving them the nutrient water. They get the same nutrient water all the other plants get which is foliage pro
An arm of my peanut cactus broke off. Considering putting it in volcanite pumice for rooting 🤷🏻♀️ do I need to root it in water first. Not sure what to do with this poor piece of cactus 🌵

Yasss! I do the same thing-I’ll order something and when the bag comes...I stare at it trying to remember why I got it in the first place😅
Your super thrive method is awesome can’t thank you enough. All my plants are having a new growth. You all need to try the foliage spray method
Yassssss

We shall see...to me the cactus soil is always just “ok” after 6 months...

In semi- hydro or did you just used LECA as a medium?

Cleanse-spritz with hydrogen peroxide to stop rotting-no nutrients first month

Really appreciate your reply. Sorry for being a dork...so in the same bottle 6 drops of Foliage Pro and how many drops of super thrive?
I think I got it...6 drops of super thrive for a bottle. Wait to see water roots than Foliage Pro 1 tsp per gallon. Correct?
Yes and they have excellent instructions on their website all the different ways you can use the SUPERThrive
I have a Medallion Calathea in soil. She’s doing horrible and never happy. I was thinking of putting her in leca.. have you done Calatheas??
Yes...but I can’t seem to keep the humidity high enough-my rattlesnake calathea and maranta doing awesome in LECA
i divided my medallion calathea.one I planted in soil and the other one in leca.i do hope they both live 🥰
Me too

I really like water first-it shoots out roots in no time and then you can pot it up
@@prettyinplants9580 thank you I’ll go change it up and check the roots.
Hi! Was the swap here in S.A.?
Yes-there’s another one next Saturday at tillage
You have beautiful teeth.
