Spring Seeding Update ― Pruning the Vineyard ― Goodbye Blue!

- Blue, our blue roan quarter horse, is gone. We sold her to a young family in a small town on the other side of the state (near where we last lived) to live on a small farm. Blue will live with another old mare who is retired to pasture, another riding horse about her age, and a miniature horse that is getting too small for the young girls in the family. It's very sad to see her go, but she will have a better life there. The wife is a Ferrier so we believe Blue will get excellent care and attention in her new home 😊
I also spent the second day in the vineyard where I got a good deal of vines pruned, and I took a peek at the prairie grasses that I planted this year. There is some grass-like plants growing in each flat, and there shouldn't be. But I'll work that out as they get a bit older.

Always difficult to say goodbye to a horse you’ve bonded with. It’s great however when what’s best for the horse is considered. Blue will love her next home I’m sure! Happy Trails Girl! Vineyard looks awesome! = ) -Suzie

I'm sure it wa hard to let her go and that you're family and Mark will all miss Blue. Glad to hear she will have access to indoors in bad weather and ridden by children... wha t a nice way to retire.
Hi Mojo, will blue have a companion where she's going. Do you have blackberry's in your area, when I had my allotment I used to cultivate mine, got some huge fruit from them.

I can't get a horse for the bird nests, they are on their own
I did some trimming on one variety of grape vines the other day. I hope I didn't butcher them up to bad. Some of the big main trunks were dead. I noticed that it the vines had the mottling of grayish green moss on them, then they were dead. What do you use to fertilize your vines and what do you use to kill the grass from around the vines?
