After watching your videos I try to bike slower and enjoy simple pleasures like an iced coffee. I am curious about two things though- 1) what speed do you average? I went deliberately slow on my commute averaging 10mph but still end up a sweaty mess because of heat and hills. 2) somewhat related to #1 but what do bike casual commuters wear to office jobs? I’m just wearing short sleeved and pants but doesn’t seem to stop the sweat. Maybe my 122 meter climb in 26 degrees across 11km commute just makes sweat inevitable.
No idea my average speed. Probably 15-20kmh. I sweat but I’m lucky to have a shower at work. Before I used to just bring a change of clothes and some good deodorant. Worked well enough.

I ordered my first bike a week ago, and was so excited to learn to ride it and take trips like you do, but unfortunately my phone broke and I had to refund the bike so I could get another one on an emergency :c I really hope I can get a bike soon, they seem like the perfect transport, as I really dislike the anxiousness and problems having a motor vehicle implies, stay riding!!!
With some friction shifters, it doesn’t matter which side they’re one. These are actually Sunrace shifters for Sturmey Archer internal gear hubs. Rivendell Bikes worked out that you can use them as friction shifters on either side.

A 2005 Giant ocr1(everything), A 2002 Cannondale Jekyll 600(long reach/rear suspension is too bouncy), A 2021 Cube Reaction PFM(saddle hurts). I haven’t ridden his 2023 Norco SightVLT C2 yet but at least it looks comfortable…wow such pedestrian friendly area you shot this in.

I enjoy escaping from my lecturing job on lunchtime rides, exploring the cycle paths and quiet fringes of the city, inspired by your videos. Often riding 10 miles or so from work on a Friday to catch the train home. Keep it up 😎🚴

Sweet ride! Curious about your shifter setup; did you put the rear shifter on your left side, inorder to have them upside down?

An all terrain bike I guess. Looks for bikes from Rivendell, Velo Orange, Crust, Bassi, Surly, Rune etc

Tubes in all of my bikes at the moment. Tubeless is nice but I think it’s a little overrated unless the majority of your riding is off road.
