I have loved this for decades now and had never seen the video until now. Never worried about if they made it to Texas, I was just happy they were coming. Enjoy

Chris Rea is a monster musician including writing 8 disc of Blues Music and the story book of the blues history. However he crosses many Genre so check this musician out. Try his album Auberge - any song off of it rates top marks. I like "You're Not A Number" and "Every Second Counts"

Never seen that video - but being from Berlin I can say with certainty that this depicts a family from East(!)-Germany (before the fall of the Berlin Wall and the German reunification) - and so 'Texas' turns into the epitome of the 'free' West, as they normally can't leave! Notice how in the beginning everyone drives the typical small 'Trabbi' cars, and then they make it to the west (of Germany), with bigger cars like that BMW, and where the Americans are stationed, who are pictured as friendly and helpful, with the clichee sybols of Coca-Cola, Hamburgers etc.
Not directly one with the song, but if understood symbolically, that longing for freedom was a very real thing for a lot of people for quite a long time...

    It's not about the destination....
it's about the intention and the journey.
I think that's the point of the song.
Striving to get to a better place, even if it's just idealistic.

A man and family are overwhelmed by a big city like London. His brother tells him of a place called "Texas" where there are "warm winds blowin' and big long roads out there". The dreamy maj7 chords leave me believing that the singer hasn't been there but it might be the perfect place for him to get out of the crowded city. No, he's not in Texas. But his "brother" tells him about this place. One of my favorites from the Road To Hell album filled with irony....especially if you've ever been to Texas. Imagine his disappointment if he moved to Dallas or Houston!!!!

What disappointment? His worst day in Dallas or Houston will be so much better than his best day in East Germany, and he knows it!

This is my first time hearing Chris, and you’re right that wasn’t Texas, their license plate wasn’t a Texas one. I liked this song, and as they say everything is bigger and better in Texas born and raised in Texas, can ya tell❣️ I think they made it to Texas, I mean U.S. Soldiers stopped and helped. I looked on your site and I didn’t see where you reacted to Jonny Lang here’s my favorite song he does. There’s another I’ll edit in, by Rodney Crowell, Telephone Road. I like this video because it has actually shows real places here. One of the places I grew up at was not far from Telephone Road. Keep up the good work, my friend, blessings from Texas❣️

React to the Saami Saami telugu song, not the lyrical video, the original video song. I'm sure you'll like it. Saami means God, Indian women call husband as God.

Argh, the song and its video are really disparate on "Texas." The song is really best appreciated rolling down the highway, in Texas if you can manage it. The video is really its own thing, shot in Europe... nothing against it as a piece of work but it's not how I'd introduce anyone to this great song. It's an experience for the ear, and the mind's eye, not the video's director's vision.
