It's becoming more common for these to fail. No surprise, the system is approaching 25 years old now. Having a schematic is greatly helpful but of course those are hard to find since they rarely get leaked.
Finding that schematic so easily was a breath of fresh air for sure. Sad these relics are going extinct but all the more satisfying when we can fix them!
I have a PS2 of my own and it’s displaying similar behavior. When you measured the ohms on your multimeter,!what setting did you set it to to check the resistor arrays? Sorry, I’m pretty much diving in the deep end here, but I want to get my PS2 back to its former glory.
I use Ω (resistance) in auto mode. Not all meters have auto, so in that case you'd have to pick the correct units for what you're measuring. If you google search your meter you can probably find a manual explaining operation in detail.
My ps2 boots up okay but the menus are patchy like you have a dirty snes cart or something. Anyone have any pointers on this? It’s so odd the boot logo is perfect but the menus are messed up. I do use freemcboot but the issues are happening with it without it in. I’m using component cables to an hdmi adapter. It was working fine when I last used it a few months ago.
I have a PS2 slim that someone broke the power button when they tinkered with this, when I replaced the power button I found this same exact issue. Could this be the issue? I fear it's rather the Emotion Engine but I don't know for sure I'm just going off of what I hear.
I’m having a different issue with mine 😩. Mine displays color sometimes and sometimes it’s black and white. It’s connected to a CRT in composite and have tried multiple cables and the issue persists. Both the TV and console are NTSC. Any help would be appreciated 😅
Hey mate, my ps2 display absolutely works fine, but there is no audio. Nothing wrong with AV cable because it works with other ps2.. Can you tell me where i can look into for the issues

This video is gold! ty so much for sharing! My console is having a graphical issue and im hopping is a resitance array instead of a fried GPU
Glad I could help and best of luck with fixing yours!

I have a GH-019 and some resisters reading at 46 ohms could that be the problem ?
The ps2 turns on but no display or audio
Nah 46 is fine, if it were bad it would be reading way off from 47

You could troubleshoot the cables more buy just trying a regular composite cable on a different monitor
I found some of theme only 24.4 Omh while all others 48.X moh.If I bridged them will it work ?? but mine is glitched but not like urs
If there are that many problem areas I would probably go straight to replacement rather than trying to short them all.

Only way to know for sure is to measure those resistors!

Have you tried a different composite cable?
@@FantasticQuack I have tried two different PlayStation OEM composite and one third party composite and same results.

I would start by seeing if you can track down the audio chips and inspect there. Let me know if you can get to the bottom of it!
Also make sure you have your audio being sent through the AV connection and not through your optical audio jack. This should be in audio settings
You saved my ps2
YOU did that, but I'm glad I could play a useful role in it, nice work!
What is the wire you used In the video?
It's a tin leg I cut off a standard thru hole resistor
My jumperes are 25, how to fix it?
25 what? I don't understand
@@FantasticQuack I tested one of them, there were 25 instead of 47
i got a bunch of faulty boards for the fat ps2 maybe i can fix them now
I hope you can get them working!
Is This PS2 From 2001 Because SCPH-39001 Is From 2001, Which Would Make It 23 Years Old?
Not sure on the exact year I just have the model#
So my issue is something similar, its so annoying because it ALMOST works but clearly its dying..
Did you measure the resistors?
I’m not smart enough to mess around with my ps2 please let me send it to you I got scammed :’(
Not late this time😈
Cheers to that!
It's a GH-017 board!
Is there something special about this one?
