10:06 if you dig the mix check into the man who did it! Will Putney is the guy who produced this and he’s also in other bands like Better Lovers, fit for an autopsy, and end! (All worth checking out if you haven’t already) He’s created what I call the will putney rabbit hole because he’s had his hands all over so many MASSIVE records during the last decade! Coma Witch ~ the acacia strain Low teens ~ every time I die Red white green ~ upon a burning body Let the ocean take me ~ the amity affliction Laugh tracks ~ knocked loose Hate ~ thy art is murder All hail ~ Norma Jean The ghost inside’s self titled LP These are just a few of the records this guy has had a hand in making! Metal today would not be what it is today without him honestly so if you have time for a deep dive, I highly recommend it!
Damn, does this EP really fuck... It is a great timing for them to drop some new shit. It's been a while since their last album in 2022. Cannot stop listening to this EP 😅😎
@@Denialboii their biggest inspo is the band Misery Signals! amazing y2k metalcore band, def recommend listening to their album "Of Malice & The Magnum Heart." their vocalist Brendan has gone on record stating Counterparts is just a Mis Sigs clone hahaha, and they are, but they're both amazing in their own ways in my opinion!
@guyonagravitronmachinestan7595 oh yeah I've heard of misery signals! When boundaries dropped some music in 2023 people would compare their sound to MS, I checked out some songs but didnt give them enough of a listen to be able to give an opinion but I def know that they slap
Kyle Brownlee might be one of my favorite drummers. It's not a coincidence that you've mentioned him. His drumming is a huge part of their identity for me 😌
@@antonmakovetskyi8350 I forgot his name, but I knew it was Kyle I just didn't want to mess up his last name and call him brownie instead 😭😭 when it comes to drumming, the choices he makes for the different parts just feel perfect to me. Like it makes sense to me that he would do blast beats in the beginning, I guess I would identify my drumming style as Kyle Brownlee subconsciously inspired
This is indeed the heaviest material they've ever released. Every album of theirs has some heavy shit but they've been more about melodic stuff for me too (although I do love Brendan's vocals, especially live, so passionate). Brendan has been a part of a sick band/project END, where the bois do get heavier than Counterparts. So with this EP, it feels like Brendan has brought so much of that sound (in general, the style of vocals) while the instrumentals still distantly sound as Counterparts
They have had moments on almost every album that are this heavy, but they’ve generally been a bit more melodic in the past than this. I love the intensity on this ep though
Lmao I am literally spamming at this point. But whatever. I HAVE TO when there is Counterparts :D For the recommendations: 1) A eulogy for those still here (2022) is a very emotional albums 2) You're not you anymore (2017) is a shorter one but this one hits kinda in a special way 3) Tragedy will find us (2015) features some of their best songs Actually, having mentioned only 3 albums, I think there's no point in picking only SOME by them. If I were you, I would check out their whole discography. There's a funny post on Reddit "counterparts is ruining my life"/metalcore which could become your reality 😁😂
@@antonmakovetskyi8350 I love anton spam dont worry brother And fair enough, I think im going to listen to their 2019 album again to see if I like it even more now. Maybe I end up doing an Invent Animate again haha
The *a martyr left alive/no lamb was lost* video is so we'll shooted! Probably, one of the best videos I have seen this year :)

2000's metalcore for the modern era and done right. Counterparts literally can't write a bad song.

It sounds like he helped write the guitars for this ep as well.
