Hey Wizard, I bought a log home in the Poconos. And the logs are too dark for my liking. I would like the logs brought back to their natural color and then sealed. Any advice for me to do it myself or do you know anyone in that area to give me an estimate. Thanks.
@@how2anything., the key factors are the age and integrity of the logs and home overall. Your choices are use of a pressure washer with a large orifice tip that reduces it to low pressure. Then can it be cleaned or stripped and brightened without water intrusion into the home and damaging or staining the interior. Then, what kind of stain is on the logs? Sealers and semi-transparent stains tend to remove easier. Solid stains and issues with water to the interior usually will take you to media blasting the logs to restore the original color and tone. I can check our database and see who we have there. Unfortunately our previous recommendation passed away a couple of years ago.
