From David A. Wood: One of the commentators, I cannot remember exactly who, stated that Godfather 3 does not get the credit it truly deserves. I am inclined to agree with that person, albeit with some reservations. I mean it is truly hard to be undeniably successful even once. Heck! Francis Ford Coppola made Lightning strike hard twice. So, why should anyone reflexively think that Coppola could effortlessly bring down lightning bolts galore a third time? Granted the third installment was not as great as the previous two, especially when you take into consideration that the story was a bit contrived and also that 1st Class Utility Actor/1st Class Leading Man Robert Duvall wasn't in the film for Continuity's Sake, but it was/is still a pretty compelling film to watch. In spite of it's minor flaws, Godfather 3 is still a film you have to watch even if it did not immediately, emotionally, and figuratively grab you by your intellectually core. The film, as seemingly hurried as it must have been to create, only proves what a great movie director Mr. Coppola was/is in that his "crappiest" film still handily triumphs over any other director's best film! When I first saw the film in its entirety, I also thought that the film had some problems, like the viewer could have totally done without the Bridget Fonda character and that the supposed 1979 passing of Pope John Paul 1 in the film was chronologically wrong, but in the end these are mostly minor quibbles. Finally, you really have to give Coppola an "A" for his effort in the way he doggedly created the third installment. By that, I mean he only directed Godfather 3 in order to financially dig himself out of a debtor's hole; he had to hurriedly invent a credibly compelling, cinematic plot with the author of the original novel, Mario Puzo; and lastly, he was forced to work in an under the gun style toward bringing the studio's (Paramount Pictures) product to market by the 1990 Yuletide Season. Given all of those figurative constraints while making Godfather 3 in an emotionally/physically grueling fashion, Coppola still "brought home the coonskin!" After having seen Godfather 3 many times over, I have come to appreciate what Francis Ford Coppola ultimately succeeded in doing when he concluded his cinematic trilogy. If for nothing else, Al Pacino, Andy Garcia, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Eli Wallach, and Joe Mantegna all gave great performances that were collectively worth the price of theater admission. All in all, I like Godfather 3! In summation, even though I like the movie, the third installment still wasn't as great as the previous two, but like I alluded to at the beginning of my comment in an interrogative fashion, it is impossible to make Lightning strike thrice!

Oddly, what moves me the most is that the trilogy ends as it began, with blood. Decades earlier, in Sicily, 1901, Vito Corleone's brother is murdered during his father's funeral procession. In the distance, one hears the anguished cries of a mourner who screams "hanno ammazatu u picciriddu, Paulo!"! = "They murdered the young Paulo"! Towards the end of the trilogy, in the above scene, after Michael's daughter is fatally shot, a horrified woman is heard wailing in the distance"Hanno ammazatu Maria!", "They just killed Maria"! Past and present become fused in an instant, and the viewer who recognizes this remains shell-shocked. The only thing left after decades of honor and vengeance... is pain.
That is not how Coppola described the ending..... I completely get what you are saying but Coppola's words were different... Here is how Coppola explained it.. After Mary was shot it was shown to you why Michael didn't get the happy ... his biggest sins, he killed his wife's child, he betrayed her and Kay was gone like a dream she has always been. Someone murdered his child just like he murdered someone's child.... Michael :" Father I betrayed myself, I betrayed my wife , I killed men...." Priest;" Your sins are terrible. You deserve to suffer ".
If these are the best scenes from the Godfather, part three, this will be must’ve been really terrible. Number one and number two set the bar so high that anything less is uncivilized.
That last scene had me laughing uncontrollably. To see/hear them hoot and holler like upset chimps was very satisfying. Wanna live as a gangster? Well, welcome to the life (and death).
I always thought this movie was underrated. Badly executed in a lot of ways, with mediocre acting on the part of some of the cast (especially Sofia Coppola, who really belongs *behind* the camera), but otherwise basically sound-with an *EXCELLENT* climax.

Terrible movie..
@@robbie192 u don’t like olive oil Robbie ?
No it’s garbage
A broken heart.
Grim Reaper has to visit you sometimes you can't do all the killing
4:42 always makes me convulse and cry.😩
This top 5 segment was 5:38 too long.
If these are the best scenes from the Godfather, part three, this will be must’ve been really terrible. Number one and number two set the bar so high that anything less is uncivilized.
Great film people need to realize that
People don't need to realize jackSHIT.
That last scene had me laughing uncontrollably. To see/hear them hoot and holler like upset chimps was very satisfying. Wanna live as a gangster? Well, welcome to the life (and death).
funny thing is you see this play out on the news world wide .
they still never learned the lesson
crime has a high cost in power
loved the confession
#1 Fair (albeit minor) retribution for all the innocent peoples who died because of the Corenlones.
That solved the Vincent and Mary dilemma 3:50
Ok one more time Al. On 3, ok? 1, 2, 3: "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
Beautiful baby but we're gonna need one more.
The scene of Michael’s daughter death 😭😭😭
The death of Fredo caught up to him.
I always thought this movie was underrated. Badly executed in a lot of ways, with mediocre acting on the part of some of the cast (especially Sofia Coppola, who really belongs *behind* the camera), but otherwise basically sound-with an *EXCELLENT* climax.
I didn't realize there were any top scenes in 3.
The best part of Godfather 3 was the ending.
😂😂😂😂
Everyone associated with that movie should be ashamed of themselves
Horrible!!!!!
His sister taking a big role in the mob hierarchy was so strange and unrealistic.
Was that the only part you found unrealistic?
@@hamida185 No, I found a lot of the character decisions odd.
It's like when a baby cries, but nothing comes out. You know what's coming.
Great casting work for the son in law.
i'd swap the first scene for Michael's confession about fredo
O my God! What a World!
Al Pacino the greatest to ever do it.
2:48 silvio's best scene for sure
Yes 😂
Tom Five Scenes: (crickets)
You really should add a "HEAVY Spoilers Alert" to the title
What a tragic. End to Michael
As. Good as part 1 but number 2 stands alone
Robert Duvall should be in this movie. If I knew it was about the money I would pay him myself.
😈😊
I don’t think 5 bucks would have been enough to convince him, though,
Hahaha, maybe 6 !
😂😂👍
It’s hard to watch the hard as steel Michael Corleone dance with Kate, as she’s taller.
No easy feat
the thumbnail for this vid says everything about Godfather 3 that needs to be said
Only Al Pacino could do justice to this Character
