Man you need to add a bed rock blaster to that set up. Even just come off the garden hose port would really help you out. Curious how deep that hole was, marveling at the fact you got two divers to depth on that t-80. I have the keene 4" 3 stage and hate lugging it much further than 100 yds. I would love to get either the 2 1/2" or 4" Dahlke. Leaning toward the 2 1/2" and a simpson rope winch. You guys looked cold in this I could tell. Wet suit heater a must in Q ville. That or you had exhaust hitting the hooka. Gets really dangerous when the wind stops. I was just thinking of selling my 4" but after this, the bug is back lol thanks for that. AU just hit 13 month high. Be safe Brother and good luck to you.
I was up at dry gulch this time last month, and there was no water at all. I talked with my buddy yesterday though, and he has been up in the last couple weeks and he said there is plenty of water to do whatever you want. I'll be working it next month most likely.
Hey Indy thanks for the comment. The crack appears to clean itself out with the force of the water somewhat often, and there wasn't much fine gold in it. We don't think it was worked, but it wasn't old material like we were hoping it would be.
lianeisme All the sand and gravel that gets sucked up flows over a sluice box, which traps the gold, then spills off the end and sinks back down to the bottom of the river 15-30ft from where it came from. The sluice holds about 2-3 gallons of sand, which is mostly made up of heavy black sands that are usually iron based. Any fishing lures, lead bullets, or metal debris that go up the hose will be trapped in the sluice. The roughly 3 gallons of concentrated sand from the whole day of dredging was taken home and panned to remove the gold. I remember on this day we accumulated dozens of bullets and quite a few lead fishing weights and lures. Environmental cleanup and gold collection, anyone?
+Sam Seth how much gold total did you find? Just wondering. New to all of this and trying to ascertain the best ways to go about it and what to look for.
+Sam Seth Sweet! I'm in the process of building a 3" dredge. I built a 1.5" pump from scratch and am powering it with a 4hp kohler. It's just gonna be a high banker dredge for now. I'll use that till i get the pump, engine and floats for the 5" i just got. I just love seeing dredges eat gravel!
+jay parry Good luck with the build. I would love to run a 5", but at this point I'll be sticking to 4" because the claims I'm working now are on small creeks. Once you get that 3" up and going post some vids. I've been slacking on the uploading for a few years now, but I'm starting to work on putting new stuff up so keep an eye out.
+Sam Seth I plan to. It's going to be a ghetto home made unit, but it's gonna work and that's all i'm worried about right now. I would like to get a 4" sometime for the mix between portability and power. The 5" is huge with the 3 sluice setup. I dont know if i could haul it on a wheeler without a trailer. Should still be pretty productive when it runs, though.
+jay parry Alright I subscribed to you, get out there and find some gold. Looking forward to the vids. As far as portability of a 4" goes, I'm a f'ing cripple that's had two back surgeries and I can still pack all the pieces of my 4" in to pretty much anywhere I want to work. A 5" is more a machine you'd want to throw in the Rogue, Umpqua, Klamath, etc. not pack in to the wilderness just because of the bulk of all the components. I'm more interested in hunting down hot little creeks way above ESH designations, so I'll stick to my 4". Best of luck to you.
+Appalachian Prospectors This pool is 15-20ft. The deepest we've dredged on this creek is 25ft. Average depth is only a few feet during summer in most of the creek though.
Everything on the dredge is custom built besides the floats. DK makes the best floats in my opinion, but I am not impressed at all with their fabrication work. I personally wouldn't buy DK built dredge. The dredge we are using in the video is all home built around the DK floats.
It never seizes to amaze how suction dredges spend so much effort and time extracting product only to run it through a piece of shit sluice box. Of course all you is bullets, anything else went right back into the creek!

+Rob S Lol. This pool was maybe 18' deep in the middle but we were probably around 12-15. Good luck.
great vid and nice find thanks for posting and happyhunting

Cool video, Sam. That material looks pretty loosely packed. Someone beat you there? Nice nugget! Looking forward to the next video.
Great video my friend! Love that underwater footage! Sad to hear you say that about a DK Nugget dredge since I just bought that 6" dk :( lol
MY LIKE I323 23.4.19. HANGS FROM BRASIL. NICE VIDEO.
Absolut Top! Danke für das teilen.
1st summer i got one oz per hour at 4' with a home made 5" dredge that floated on Aleyeska Oil Pipeline blue styrafoam sheets. Good Old Days..
Have you tried moving those huge boulder rocks? Maybe they are under?
that was great footage, what sort of camera are you using. cheers crampo
Some virgin grd on the ledge. how many times do you think most of that area was Dredged before??
Did you apply air lift pump? Or other type ? if you use other type, please let me know.
This video was shot using a GoPro2 with a dive housing. Thanks for watching.
Yall ever hit bed rock in this hole?
Sam have you been up to quartzville dry gulch at all?...let me know cause im headed down in the 19th for 5 days at the claim...hope there is water
Great vid thanks
cool video
1:35 did you have to smack the poor lobster and crush it after? just to move it?
You do know they have hard shells, right? Like rock hard. It's a crustacean, don't be over sensitive.
ZandR90 It is also a natural fish food, It was already missing a claw... where did that go ? I wonder...
do you need permits or something like that to do this?
all that for 1 teeny tiny speck of gold ?
holy shit what nice gravel there :)
Is this legal in Oregon now? I really want to dredge this summer
What do you do with all the soil you took out ?

man... so much effort for that tiny gold?
It adds up in the end
Nice
Is it just me or can you see a good amount of gold on video.
Is that a 3" or 4"? Also, what size motor and pump are you using?
+jay parry This is a 4". It's a 2.5" x 2" Keene pump on a Honda 6.5hp engine. Air pump is a t80.

wow u guys are deep
Looks like much of this ground has been worked over because it is so loose.
did you need a permit to dredge in your area?
How deep is that river?

You over rated the title fellas. I was waiting for something substantial to happen, but no. Ah well on to the next.
