What's so strange about listening to this is that even if we could go back to the year 2004 right now at the age we are now, is that the way we perceive this same game and music would be entirely different to our now much older minds. There was something magical about Runescape, and I think a big part of it was being so young and having a mind that worked differently back then. I'd say it's sad it's gone now, but then again I'm glad we got to grow up in a time when RS was the new and popular game. I feel bad for the xbox COD playing kids who are just raging at others over VOIP, repeating the same combat over and over again. MMOs truly stimulated the imagination in a way that most games don't capture anymore.
It's definitely gone now and it breaks my heart, but on the other hand that's what makes this game so timeless in our heads. Those little keys at 0:27 are embedded into my mind, forever. Till my last day on earth.
I remember walking north of varrock, out into the wilderness, with nothing just to explore the wilderness. Off I went, deeper and deeper. I saw rats, hill giants, chaos dwarfs and greater demons. I stayed away from anything that was dark red in level, including the dwarfs and demons. Following along the iron gate until I came to the opening, "Members..." I thought, okay thats fine. I can keep walking. I soon found a spider mound, with a sapphire on top. "Score!" As I headed down, I dodged hobgoblins and other monsters, eventually stumbling in edgeville. Not knowing where I was and my desire to get back to varrock (assuming varrock was on the whole other side of the wilderness I just trekked though) I started to panic, and checked my magic level. I was a few hundred exp off 25. The level needed to get to varrock. I preformed a few spells, and eventually overpaid for one law rune in the edgeville bank to get to varrock. A few days later I realized edgeville was right next to varrock, and laughed at myself.
Wow...I was about 10 when I started runescape. 21 now. Man, I miss those days. Such a simple life, so many hours spent roaming around runescape playing the days away...Miss it very much.

This song is a work of art, the way it starts off sounding like just another light tume but slowly gets darker and more mysterious is so evocative of the atmosphere of Edgeville, as you walk into yet another village but slowly begin to feel like something isn't quite right about this place.
Nostalgia is bittersweet, but one thing that makes it so sweet is that we all share it and empathize with one another on how it makes us feel. It's a really warm, not lonely feeling.
