Tony is definitely dead and I can't see anyone more likely to be behind it than Patsy and/or Butchie. Patsy had every reason. The only thing that makes me doubt it slightly is the way the hit went down. Pasquale just never had that sociopathic ruthlessness that some had, it was all business from what we see. So while he may wanna inflict as much pain as possible on Tony, I don't know that I buy him doing it in front of Carm, AJ, and his soon-to-be daughter in-law. Maybe, but idk. If he was behind it I'd say the how and where wasn't his pick. Butch was never trustworthy imo. But, even assuming he was being straight up and wanted to end the beef, there's almost no way that they can let the way Phil was hit up stand, in front of his family, closed casket, mad public, etc. So popping T in front of his family, mad public, possibly closed casket, would set things straight. But the thing that makes the most sense to me is Patsy, maybe with Pauly, possibly the Barese's, Carlo coulda been involved before he flipped (you're the only other person I've heard say that!), who knows who else, coulda worked with NY to get Tony outta the picture with promises of a fresh start, clean slate, new management, etc. That way everyone is happy and no further action is expected of anybody. I really never could buy the others. I don't even think Pauly would tbh, at most I think he'd go along with someone else's plan. Gotta remember, Tony is SCREWED thanks to Carlo and other evidence the feds been stacking year over year. And he's never really been locked up. So nobody can really be too confident that he'll stand tall (I REALLY don't think he'd flip, but they prolly ain't willing to take that chance). Even if he stays 10 toes down and beats the case, it's a ton of press and lights shining where absolutely nobody wants em. So even people who love em could view it as a mercy killing and something done for the honor of the family and LCN as a whole. This way there's no trial, no risk of flipping and taking down the whole NJ family along with chunks of at least 2 NY families, his family isn't bankrupt from legal bills, lights stay off and prying eyes stay away, etc, etc, etc. The only real downside for most of these guys is losing the connections he had on a personal level, otherwise it's almost all upside. Don't think T killed Renada either. Almost universally ignored potential suspect: Feech La Mana. Tony sent him back down the road and he'd definitely have the contacts to make it happen. And unlike some of the others, he is that brand of sociopath.
Patsy was shooting at Syl's assassins in the last episode. Please. DeAnne is a woman in the life. That means she has ZERO power to make anything happen. Furio ain't coming back to America for Carmella, so so what? Paulie was too stupid to ever make a move against Tony. Was he loyal? As loyal as any American mafiosi. Bottom line, is that Tony Soprano had plenty of enemies, as any man in his position. New York put the hit out. Butchie and the rest of the survivors. 2+2=4. Simple.
I do disagree about the women in the life having zero power to make anything happen. As for Junior, “an old woman made an ass out of him” and Janice took out Richie…even Patty Leotardo when she told Phil that “Vito must be made to face his sins squarely.” They wouldn’t necessarily be the ones to pull the trigger, but then, neither are the bosses.
Since the death if Gandolfini, I have accepted the Tony did die theory. However as soon as he looked up at Meadow, I am going with Tony had a heart attack. Just like Gandolfini. However I would not put it past Paulie to have made the move. With Sil and Bobby out of the way, Paulie finally saw his opportunity. Plus, Tony kind of bullied Paulie in taking over Construction. Here is another theory that I always had. What if....Junior faked his dementia. And made his move when the time was right.
While I think that’s a great theory and the finale most certainly could be a dream (a friend of mine actually wrote a whole book with that very thesis), I don’t like to put things in definitive boxes…just ask Schrödinger’s cat or John Schwinn. 😉 But yes, the finale is very dreamlike, starting from the very beginning when it looks like Tony is laying in a casket and we hear the sound of an organ like we’d hear at a funeral home.
@@SopranosBlueprint Steve Else’ book? Have read it and I agree largely with his interpretation of finale. MIA is not only weird and disjointed like a dream, but dreams and dreaming are a dominant theme in song titles and lyrics of soundtrack. Also consider AJs outburst at Bobby’s funeral regarding film Dreamgirls. Regarding heart attack… hearts get at least as many mentions as dreams. Paulie’s ringtone (figure that out), the band Heart on juke box menu in Holstens and Paulie mentions his heart twice in conversation with Tony outside Satriales… then we have smell of piss in Carmela’s safe house, Carlo farting in Tony’s safe house… incontinence brought on by heart failure… Mink and ketchup bottle suggesting resuscitation… hospital scene is Tony becoming aware of his heart monitor, scream is Carmela’s arrival in hospital… cut to black is death from heart failure… meanwhile Tony’s dreaming mind is creating what we see in finale. Ps… Many Saints of Newark ALSO a hidden dream, but that’s another days work! 😇

A woman boss?
“Rome is in a war against us, but the men are in love to their mama, huh?”
WHO care snow the series is well over and yes it was great.
Thanks.
That was great.
I go with Carmela, who had everything to gain with Tony (and the mob) out of the way. Then, she could enlist Furio to help.
( Bet I get no supporting votes.) 😂😂😂
Don't think so much. You're not good at it.
Count of Monty Crisco ova here...
@@gabbyhyman1246 I always find it a little odd that Carmela was so gung-ho about going to Holsten’s - “The consensus” - and it seemed like she was interested in traveling elsewhere (like Panama City Beach, for example) so who knows? She may have been totally emotionally checked out by that point and convinced Tony was going to end up dead or in jail one way or another, so she sorta threw caution to the wind by suggesting going out to dinner so soon after the war was allegedly over.
Lets be honest. Tony had it coming.
True
7:20 .. “Scratch Your Name” by The Noisettes .. If you love really great songwriting with an edge to it, you’ll love this song. I’m dying to know why they picked that particular song for this scene. Anyway, thanks to whoever turned me onto it! The Noisettes are truly one of the best bands I’ve ever heard. ❤️ th-cam.com/video/3paK30yBgF0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZbU6psnYHaRuFVVW
