I owned and wore the 41mm Sub date for 2yrs. Sold it and now have a YM 40 Slate dial. The YM is thinner, sleeker and classier. The case shape hugs your wrist hence wears a lot better and is more comfortable. The sunburst dial is stunning in the sunlight. Not to mention every man and his dog has a sub out there. Nevertheless the Sub is still a hell of a watch.
The YM is better but it's flashy. I bought a slate dial and sold it within a week. The Submariner is too common. Went for the new Explorer 2 black dial.
I was looking at an Aquanaut vs. Royal Oak vs. Overseas. I chose ... the Yachtmaster. That is the product category it competes in. It's Rolex's answer to those luxury dress sports watches. It wasn't meant to compete with the Sub.
Amazing. I was looking at the P.P. Aquanaut and the V.C. Overseas just like you. And I ended up with a Yacht Master as well. 18K white dial. I wanted the 42mm oysterflex originally but the beauty of the full yellow gold model just overwhelmed me so I had to go for it. It's the watch I have the most fun wearing, for sure.
@@closer71 It is easy for those not owning a Yacht Master to slam it, but for those who own a Sub and a Yacht Master, wear each one for two weeks and then come back and tell me the Yacht Master is oodles more comfortable to wear, much like the Daytona.
Yacht master is nicer, submariner is great but overrated. Every dive watch from every company looks like a submariner these days (not the submariners fault, that’s a testament to how good it is) but the yacht master looks like an upgraded version of the submariner minus the water resistance (yacht master isn’t really a tool watch anyway).
No glide lock on yacht master, complex movement with higher servicing costs, and a platinum bezel that if cracked costs a fortune to replace. Submariner , no contest
By the way, the glide lock is very useful in daily wearing, but my take on it is that apparently in order to have a glide lock in a clasp it needs to have a much longer clasp (to fit the glide lock mechanism) which I always consider it a badly looking clasp when it is that long. When I wear my submariner I always look at the clasp and wish it has been a little bit shorter. I noticed that the yacht master clasp is of ideal length. I don’t have a Yacht master but looking forward to try the grey one on wrist.
Recently bought the rhodium dial YM, absolutely love it, great video
Yacht-Master by a mile!
Great vid. Please keep up the fantastic work.
Thanks Matt. Will do bud.

Great vid. Great comparison. And great choice. Both are also, well, great. ;-)
Thanks Chicago watch spots. although im always frightened to wear the yacht master as I have scratched it in the past!
Only 1 answer here. Buy 1 then buy the other. One is a sporty daily and the other is a sporty dress watch. Perfect duo for me anyway.

@@closer71 Great choice! Love that watch too. Enjoy it in good health!

Obviously yacht master is nicer the sub nowadays especially is just hype

same movement?
@@eddywangchang it’s not
@@PALWE website says both 3235, there only second hand and date complication on both
Sub you see everywhere, you're right no contest if you just want to follow the crowd..
