      Daniel I have to say I loved the video and your channel! One thing with cloud wheels is that they don't have their prime grip out of the box, it starts to kick in around 40-50 miles when the contact patch is much less narrow. This break in period is definitely a disadvantage to other wheels but I think if you rode them to that point you'd have an entirely different opinion!

    I drive the Cloudwheels Discovery 105 for 3/4 years now on my Evolve GT with a 40T gear. BEST decision I've ever made. The ride is so much more smooth, especially when you are driving on asphalt and pavements with gravels in cities. My feet and knees can withstand much more kilometers without getting tired. Plus the 40T gear adds so much torque compared to the standard 32T gear, this is simply beautiful. Max speed is reduced by ~5km/h, but I don't drive max speed (42km/h) anyways in cities, so that's negligible for me. My knees say "thank you" :D

    The "narrow contact patch"/convex shape, is very similar to Slick Revs. Ruff Stuff wheels. Grip was always an issue with them too. Regardless though, the options open for hub boards is limited in comparison to belted setups. Donuts are a game changer, especially if you have UK roads to contend with.

    Definitely agree they’re in betweener wheels. Not the best street wheels or AT wheels. But for packed dirt and rougher roads they’re cheaper that pneumatic wheels and do a lot better than street wheels. Street wheels on rough roads sucks and on dirt packed roads is an accident waiting to happen.

    You got a quicksilver look on. I dig it.
    I also agree with what you've said. It's the perfect in between for me because it provides a moderate level of comfort and a good amount of range no matter what surface I'm going over.
    AT wheels are comfy no matter what surface. Street wheels are comfy only on proper smooth paths or roads, but on anything remotely rough my feet hurt after 10minutes.
    AT wheels drain my battery way faster, but Street wheels provide massive range.
    Cloud isn't perfect at what either excels at, but provides a perfect middle ground. Very good for me due to my circumstances, which are the paths and routes I ride.
    Certainly if I lived in the city or in a new suburb it would change what I used.

    I’m not a very big cloudwheels fan personally, manly due to the narrow contact patch. For me, that narrow contact patch just doesn’t inspire much ride confidence. In my opinion, the torqueboards 72A 110s are a much better options when it comes to grip and comfort because they’re even softer than the cloudwheels, but I also recognize that what’s best for me is not best for everyone else. The torqueboards 110s are definitely another good option though for anyone thinking about getting large wheels, my main reason for getting them myself is because the contact patch is huge.

    I ordered the Cloudwheels donuts some days ago for my Exway Flex Hub. I'm really looking forward to them because there are some bike paths in my region that are too rough for the original 85mm wheels. I wonder 😉 if I can ride there kind of smoothly with the cloudwheels, or if I would need an AT board in the future for this kind of paths.

    Daniel, what are your opinions on the Torque Board wheels 110 (tb110)?
    Btw, I have 105 cloudwheels on my zealot and I agree with everything u said. Cloudwheels are more comfortable on bumpy pavements and gravelly roads, but on days where I want range, I opt for the base backfire urethane wheels.
    I think people hate cloudwheels because they're overhyped and you can get something better for the money, like smaller wheels with more range, or bigger wheels with more comfort. Cloudwheels don't excel at anything specifically more than others, but they look cool IMO and do enough to get adequate range and comfort together.

    I appreciate your videos, Daniel. I'm yet to buy an e board, it's all very confusing but you're helping me build knowledge faster than simply reading. I really want to build a board from different parts. I want MY choice of board. I too am 6'1 and want a long cool board (without too much flex) then pick the parts I want to throw onto it. But am finding it hard to work out how to find the plastic to cover the parts with as all manufactured boards have. Enertion has liquidated and are the only ones I know that sold kits for dummies and made things super simple. In summary, I'd love to see you put together a clip (no matter how long it is!) as a "How to build your own board" with some options on available parts that you deem suitable from a list of manufacturers/suppliers. I've just subscribed and I look forward to hearing more of your content. Thank you sir.

    Great Video!
    I got these for my backfire g3 and immediately noticed an increase in ride comfort, which was the number one thing that I was hoping for. The torque is affected but not to a point that it makes a difference to me. I noticed a slight decrease in braking but not as much as the difference in torque, I am a bigger guy (250lbs) so I think my braking was already kinda slow. I also felt much more comfortable going faster in the areas I usually ride. I haven't done an extensive range test, but I'm sure it's affected. All I can say though is that if you have bumpy roads or trails that you ride on these will make your ride much better! I was pretty skeptical about how much a difference these wheels could make and I was already looking at selling my g3 and getting an all-terrain board instead. However, due to the increased ride comfort, I will be keeping my g3!

      I don’t think there are aftermarket wheel sleeves for LOU Board. You can change the front wheels but the difference would likely be negligible.

    Not that I hate the wheels, but just too big to my liking. I hate the fact they use ABEC style cores, but different measurements... And manufacturers are supporting these pulleys like crazy and neglect the Kegel and ABEC 11 style pulleys. The Donuts are a smart move. They give ppl with hubs an alternative to switch to. But belt driven boards they make it more complicated pulley wise
    All facts stated 👌. Great to hear it coming from you Dan

    • @DanielKwan

      Don’t get 120, those will get wheelbite on X1 Pro. 105 can also get wheelbite but far less likely. Some ppl use 105 on X1 series.

    Can you feel the difference between a Cloudwheel donut for hub motors and a Cloudwheel for belt drive? The answer will help me decide whether I should buy a belt drive or hub motor on my next board. Or I might even upgrade my existing board from hub to belt drive if the difference is great.

    Hey Daniel, I just bought my first e skateboard. I've actually never been on any sort of board before so I'm taking it slow. I bought a backfire ranger x2. I get quite a bit of sperm wobble. Am I doing something wrong, is it just because of the double kingpin? What can I do to help me hit the hire speeds. Thanks for any advice.

    • @DanielKwan
      @DanielKwan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be a number of things. Make sure your weight distribution is correct first. Try having your front foot as close to the front truck as you can, and have most of your body weight on the front leg. Have your front leg do most of the balancing and steering work, and your back leg kind of just assist.

    Just wondering.. I've got the ownboard AT1W.. are these cloudwheels more absorbant on rougher road surfaces than what ownboard supply? Or not much difference? FYI, UK roads lol.. Brilliant video btw. I've purchased spare ownboard wheels.. but looking like I shouldn't have bothered, and just upgrade to cloudwheel hubs..

    • @DanielKwan
      @DanielKwan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn’t spend much time on AT1W but I think its wheels are softer than Cloudwheels. If I remember correctly… I could be wrong.
