      Who really cares to be honest, 5.6 sec are enough for me that fast enough the car looks good too I would never go and buy a crappy new eletric car just because its quicker but it's ugly, and useless for the long run, or even buy a new car in general its a car to be driven and enjoyed as it is, you can do mods and make it abit faster.

      I agree. I have an 02 330ci coupe and I do all my own work on it. I've had it since '08 and just replaced the stock crap with Koni active sport shocks/struts and nice fat Hotchkis sway bars. I can round a 90 degree corner at 45 and it just follows obediently. Fun!

    It is better, if it has a modern headunit with navigation! I have a 2001 330i M Sport which is in nearly new condition. Stick of course. Mods include full VDO gages and a high flow K&N air filter. I prefer these models over the M3s because the engine internals last much longer. 0-60 in 6 seconds is fine. Plus as a few companies make new headunits that look factory specifically for the E39 and E46. Even CD/DVD players. My car is hard to beat between 60 and 130mph. And with only 49,000 miles and mint, it has years even decades to go. The key is to baby it until the oil temperature is all the way up to 210 degrees or 15 minutes. Do not go by the water temperature. That gets hot in 5 minutes. If it is a dry day, turn off the DSC. 231 is really usable horsepower in a 3200 pound car.

    Like seeing the ZHP content, and glad to hear that you're seeing what connects the enthusiast community to this particular E46. Some of the mild mods that people seem to like: 3.46 LSD, some sort of ecu tune to liven it up a bit, headers. Suspension is spot on, as you said, but also the basics of reputable springs/shocks work great, too.

    • @sceneryaesthetic6302
      @sceneryaesthetic6302 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mvc2177 yes, very reliable. The M54 is bulletproof. It’s still a bmw so treat it with care, and stay up on maintenance but I’ve owned M54 powered cars for 15+ years and they are very solid. Things to watch out for are all cooling system components, vanos, disa valve, numerous suspension bushings, CCV, DISA valve, valve cover gaskets/cover warping, all mostly just due to age and brittle plastic/o-rings/gaskets/rubber that can fail.

  • @Rockit181
    @Rockit181 ปีที่แล้ว

    The E46 ZHP actually has much better steering than the E46 M3. 13:1 rack vs 15:1 and much more heavily weighted with more feel because of that faster ratio. If I buy an E46 M3, no doubt I will swap in a ZHP rack. The one thing a ZHP needs is a proper LSD. If you want more lively acceleration and the chance to shift more gears, put in a shorter rear axle ratio at the same time. Otherwise if you want a bit more sound, an exhaust change. It needs very little to be an excellent all-rounder
