Notice the delusion when she is asked if she has someone in mind and she says no while selling him on how this will strengthen their relationship with the honesty.
She didn't actually want an open relationship, she wanted to cheat without consequence. But he shouldn't have jumped right into another relationship. Should have taken some time to focus on himself.
I don't disagree with his walking away. Actually I support it 100%. Unless she proposed this open relationship nonsense at the inception of their relationship, he was robbed of his ability to make a conscious and informed decision as to whether or not to continue with it and invest time in it. I agree jumping into another relationship so soon could back fire as hes still dealing with the emotional fall out that remains to be seen!. She started this mess with her request to open things up after 8 years together. He was smart enough to know that she, most likely, had another pony cut from the herd and ready to ride if he agreed with her request. There comes a time when you realize that walking away isn't giving up its part of growing up. He understood that sooner or later she would give into her desires and cheat. Better now than after marriage, so fortunate she showed her true colors prior to that as it's easier not to mention a lot less expensive to rid yourself of a cheating girlfriend than a cheating wife. In her mind, there were only 2 things he could do agree or disagree. She forgot that there was a third option. It's called the door and he took it.!!
Both had agreed to an Exclusive Relations. The moment Janet states she wanted an open relationship, she voided the original relationship. Ryan doesn't owe his GF anything at this point. She needs to move on and find someone who also wants an open relationship with no exclusivity. The we have history argument is the sunk cost fallacy.
Sounds like he was looking for an out, too. I mean he already had the next girlfriend before even breaking up with the first one. Of course, her definition of an open relationship meant for her to be free to sleep with anyone she wanted, while he was supposed to wait for her while pining away for her great love. And he was supposed to pay her bills and keep a roof over her head while she was with every Tom, Dick & Harry. Don't feel sorry for her, but it looks like their relationship was dead before she even said Open Relationship, that was just the final nail. He should have walked that night instead of the charade of staying with her while starting the new relationship. Even the friend who started the whole thing turned on her instead of the usual blaming the husband for not being enlightened enough.
She had someone she wanted to bang in mind, and wanted his 'permission' but she wanted to keep him as her 'plan b'. She didn't want him to see someone else.
Some real life ironies here. Open relationships are increasing. Although the percentage is still small. Most OR are being proposed by women. Most OR fail leaving 2 damaged single people. 2 people with emotional baggage. Which leads to difficult future relationships, if any relationships at all. It's like an emotionally disfiguring virus.
As wrong as I believe asking for open marriage even after 20 plus years when you’re not even married yet and you’re hoping to have open relationship how could you possibly dream the relationship has any type of future
AS SOON as she says OPEN RELATIONSHIP, OPEN MARRIAGE, The relationship/marriage is OVER.

The best thing you can do for a partner you no longer want to be with and also have respect for is tell them the truth.

No man with self respect would tolerate his woman with another man. No woman who loves her man would tolerate him with another woman.

Oh yeah, she’s already got another dude and she doesn’t want to feel guilty.

that's the combination of 2nd and 4th wave feminism for you.
If she is at the point where she has to choose you every day instead of wanting you every day, time to leave.
He should've just ended it right away and not do all that other goofy shit.

Treating people like objects ends in loneliness.

She raised her son well.
Open relationship, you get a oneway ticket to the street and cat orphanage

She wanted to be with other people then whines about him giving her what she ask for

A great reason NOT to get married. You have to choose each other every day. 😂
It's funny how when you listen to stories, true or fiction, we can bet that the ratio is equal to divorce. Women are the majority for saying/asking.
She wanted to monkey branch to find someone better. He responded by breaking off the branch she was holding onto.
