    The producer has a blog post on gear sluts that goes into that production stuff. The crazy laser sound in the verse downbeat is actually the bass hitting a boss metal zone with all the gain up.

    I subbed once you said tom delonge and kevin cadogen were your favorite guitarists together they have created all of my fav riffs. Cadogen is criminally underrated as well such a shame. Also which pedals you using? Im trying to get 2-3 pedals for blink 182, third eye blind and other 90s shit. I was thinkin distortion and flanger but ik cadogen used a wah pedal as well what do you think

    • @EricBourassa
      @EricBourassa  ปีที่แล้ว

      Dude no way! I that’s awesome. They really have created the best guitar riffs. And yeah, lots of Wah for Cadogan. No pedals for blink really- just a fender Strat with Invader pickup through a Mesa 🤘

    It's not a pick scratch. It's string noise from him sliding his left hand back up to the 12th fret.

    • @EricBourassa
      @EricBourassa  ปีที่แล้ว

      At 0:59 in the song? The noise is moving down in pitch. So it can’t be him sliding UP the fretboard. Also it sounds more like a pick scrape than a slide

  • @nw5190

    Are we totally sure this is the correct tuning? My guy here is obviously a solid player but there’s something that doesn’t sound quite right… I’m not 100% convinced

    • @EricBourassa
      @EricBourassa  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am 100% convinced it’s correct. Not sure what sounds off. The only thing missing is a compressor to evenly squeeze each note.
      Only other thing could be you’re used to hearing overdubbed guitars plus the bass filling in extra space

    • @JonnyDWise
      @JonnyDWise ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EricBourassa I guess probably just the emphasis on those hammer ons is hard to reproduce exactly like the album. When you played the open D major chord it sounded exactly like the beginning of Narcolepsy which was pretty compelling. I’ve played with DADGAD before but never specifically D tuning before it’s cool

    • @EricBourassa
      @EricBourassa  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JonnyDWise yeah, guaranteed Graduate riff had a ton of compression on it to get the most out of those hammer-on's. Try it with a good compressor and I bet that'll do the trick. And Narcolepsy is a similar tuning- F#ADF#AE... well ok not totally similar but it still produces a D chord harmony overall. A Kevin Cadogan trademark

    • @JonnyDWise
      @JonnyDWise ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EricBourassa wow that’s interesting because at first glance it sounded identical. But mad respect to anyone who can write and play in tunings like that. My muscle memory always takes over and I try to play a note that isn’t there anymore.
