Sci-Fi PHOTOSHOP Art Inspired by Old Landscape Paintings

  • I was watching some #speedart videos on TH-cam and came across another one that inspired me, this time to use #photobashing to create my own #scifi #art. This one was by book cover artist Christian Bentulan over on the Photo Manipulation channel.

I really liked the composition of the image and it got me thinking about how I could use that as a starting point to make my own art piece. There are links under his video to the stock images he used however the links didn’t seem to work for me, but with a bit of Google searching and some patience I was able to find the two images I wanted to use to get started.
So when I was in college I took a couple of art history courses, one of them having a focus on the #neoclassical and #romanticism periods, which were two of my favorite periods in art history. I really loved the #dramatic and grandiose style and colors of the #landscape #paintings. They felt so #cinematic and transported me into them and made me feel like I was there.
With this style in mind, I wanted to try and see what it would look like if the painters from those periods were alive in the distant future and on an alien world, and could paint what they saw in that same romanticized style. So that’s what I set out to do, and I’m pretty happy with the results.
On a side note, you may notice in this #timelapse that the ship I added seems to come out of nowhere. I actually built it from several photos for a different art piece I made a while ago, but felt it fit much better into this image. So I just dragged it over from that other image into this one and tweaked it a little to make it fit. At some point I may do a #breakdown video of how I made the ship if anyone’s interested. Let me know in the comments.
Also let me know what you thought of this video and the final image and don’t forget to like and subscribe.

I think I'm definitely gonna do a full walkthrough video of this image in the future. I'll include how I did the ship when I do. Thanks!

Exceptional to be honest. The final part was particularly interesting and the first time I have seen this done. Amazing!

Amazing piece! Not sure about the choice of music selection though. I've nothing against Drum n Bass, I guess I'm just used to watching speed art videos with a little more chill atmospheric music. Still, I subscribed for the awesome art. Top quality!

Thank you. Yeah I agree about the music. This video was posted before I got in the habit of watching the fully processed video outside of the editor before posting it. This video is also on my list of ones that I'm gonna completely redo at some point with a fully tutorial and stock links.

Hey, bro. I've been watching a few of your videos, and I've got to say how much I love your work! You have inspired me out of my art block that I've been in for the past month. So, to that, I say thank you!!

That's awesome! I'm so glad to hear it. It's a huge motivator for me. Keep going and don't hesitate to link to your work here so we can see what you're creating.

I find the music annoying and would prefer to hear a narration of what you are doing and stopped watching after 5 minutes. Would love to see a video of how to created the spaceship with narration and no music.

Thanks for the feedback. I was actually considering redoing this video with full narration.

@@Damagework I would really appreciate that. And also how you made your rocketship.
