    Listening to you is like remembering my story. My first 5 years diagnosed were like yours with your new doctor: experimenting and with a indication that it could "go away". It didn't, but it changed. And I got to change my medication to generics, 4 years ago, which are not cheap but are cheaper. And yes, the track is to talk, to share, to help, to listen. Thank you for being there. We are not alone!

    Six months ago I decided to try the keto diet in order to loose on weight. I have lost about a half of the planned weight loss but I have also an important asthma amelioration, which I have not even thought about. Now I have reminded that the keto diet was invented for children with epilepsy. It stroke me, because I just wanted to tell you about my asthma remission (although I forget to take my medicament for weeks or even months). Have you any experience of diet influence on your health? I am still learning about it and try to find the best way for me, so it's not a keto preaching. I wish you the best and I write just to share my experience.

      I have asthma too although it seems like I have outgrown the worst of it. I don't have attacks like I used to. I tried keto for my epilepsy actually and it did help but it was extremely hard to keep up with. Plus I didn't want to have to keep going back to the doctor to check my bloodwork to make sure the keto diet wasn't affecting other parts of my body. For some people doing keto long term can do more harm than good so I do always tell people to talk to your doctor to see if other ailments you have night worsen with a specific diet.

      @@monicahayworth Hi! For me, what have helped in the last 2 years is a low-carb, high on veggies "diet". I keep all the protein and only make full low-carb meals at night, and all my doctors support it and it really improved my daily life.

    Glad to hear you are okay and currently stable, and that your shame around it is gone. Thank you for sharing your story! Can I ask, was your decision not to have children partly because you are epileptic and on anti-seizure medication or is that completely different?

    • @monicahayworth

      Thank you! It is partially because of that but also a personal choice.

    Do you think you would benefit from a service dog? Do they have anything like life alert for people with epilepsy?

    • @monicahayworth
      @monicahayworth  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have actually looked into it. If it wasn't for my one pup back several years ago it could've ended badly. They do have service dogs for epileptics. They're extremely expensive though and I wouldn't want to have one donated to me because there are people who are far worse than I am. At least I'm not always alone.
