Quick ‘tick’ like seizure behavior in speech and movement began 4 years into this and have had 4 big seizures from 2018-2023 (of which in 2023 I discovered that my headaches that went away after a bowel movement are directly linked to ingested histamine content) - I’m now looking into introducing bacteria back into my system as I’ve had it all wrong for so long. My cognition and performance tend to oscillate back and forth depending on what I eat but am now bound to a quite limited diet. There was a small window where the only carbs I ate were cooked and then cooled overnight potatoes with chicken and at the end of that on that day, I felt electric and alive and 100% clear again, speech flawless.. so my thoughts are that the resistant starch could’ve fed the right microbes only? Apologies for such a long comment - I appreciate your videos
Same here; I got so bad that the histamine produced to get stomach acid going (which happens when you eat _anything_ at all) that consuming _any food_ caused a severe asthma attack. Needless to say, when I put that together I learned how to fast...and fast (ha!). After a year of IF and prolonged fasting (maybe 8 longer fasts that were 3- to 5-days) and eating clean, low-histamine food I have it under control so that I can eat AND breathe, but I still have to be mindful of my histamine load.
My opinion is to take probiotics in an enteric-coated capsule (if possible), on an empty stomach, with water. This will result in more of the bacteria surviving stomach acid. Other methods may work, but this method has worked repeatedly for me, with various probiotics. After 2-3 weeks I can see an obvious change in stools.
Dr Lynch, thanks for add the great info/videos!! Not sure you will see this question being an old video, but worth a shot. Ideally swallow the capsule is best. That said, if needed to open the capsule for any reason, you can sprinkle the contents of the capsule on a bite of food and ingest the probiotics that way. Probiotics are naturally found in our foods (well - should be) so that's how we usually get them. Of course, the stomach acid will kill some of them but when taken with food, the food buffers and protects many of them from the stomach acid.
