i miss all the old reading players e.g. Dave Kitson, Kevin Doyle, Leroy Lita, Steve Sidwell, Imbrahima Sonko, Nicky Shorey, Grame Murty, Stephen Hunt, Shane Long, Ivar Ingimarsson, Seol Ki Heyon, James Harper, Chris Armstrong, John Oster, Liam Rosenior, Marcus Hanahman ect. They were all the best Reading players.
That Harper goal is just about one of my favourites as a Reading fan, you could feel the crowd willing him on, I wonder what it must have felt like for Harper.
This is why we deserve to still be in the Premiership, Unlike Derby or any other team in the bottom half last season, we were able to scare big teams and the fact we got relegated was just pure bad luck. But hey, Im sure we will be back next year. Lee - Reading Fan since he knew what football was
No the joke was we are signing these rubbish players and they will never be as good as doyle and kitson but he said it as an ironic joke but it wasn't as ironic as it could have been because we didn't actually sign oliveria
I find it remarkable that people say the first penalty was controversial because it was right on the edge of the area. That's like saying a goal where the ball only crosses the line by an inch is controversial. Liverpool had had a great season up to that point, but Benitez got in woefully wrong in that game, playing two holding midfielders against a team that attacked by playing the ball wide. Then he weirdly seemed to give up, but taking Gerrard off. On the downside, after the game I found I'd been given a parking ticket. And, sadly, it's going to be a very long time until those kinds of days return. Once one of the best run clubs in the country, with a fantastic scouting network and recruitment policy. Now, on our third set of clueless owners, signing a string of useless, unmotivated and horrifically overpaid mercenaries on premier league wages.
Liverpool weren't that good that year tbh 07/08 they were off the pace of the title conversation between United, Chelsea and Arsenal and they were humbled in the FA Cup by Barnsley as well. As for Reading they blew survival completely because there were 2 periods in the season 1 shortly after this match when they chalked up 8 defeats in a row and then another period after they beat Birmingham in March they failed to win another game until the final day of the season and it cost them. The key moments in that run was losing to Fulham at home and then failing to beat Wigan another relegation rival away and then losing to mid table Tottenham at home which combined with Fulham's comeback against City and then winning the big one against Birmingham dropped them into the red zone and the win against Derby was too little too late.
@@classicsportclassictiyl8547 I think Liverpool were unbeaten at the time. Reading blew it losing Sidwell on a free to Chelsea, then having Glen Little out for the whole season, and Bobby Convey out for much of it as well. Basically they lost 3/4 of the first choice midfield, and failed to buy well to add depth. They really shouldn't have gone down, and really should have bounced back the following year, but didn't.
@@RevStickleback They were unbeaten Liverpool but they were never really in the title fight as for Reading they couldn't score either which didn't help. The following year there were there until the turn of the year they only won 6 in 20 and that's why they got beat to auto promotion by Birmingham and then Burnley it just went badly wrong and Coppell went as a result.
liverpool's first pen shout was definitely not a penalty, the defender got the ball. however, the second he did not get the ball but torres dived after he knew he knocked the ball too far so he couldnt reach it.
@AlphaDraconis7 agreed, people believed he was good when he brought his team back out after half time 3-0 down agianst AC milan and they went on to win, but we all know it was Gerrard that got the team going, not Rafa
Other teams have scared big teams as well. Nobody has the right to be in the Premier League (not called Premiership anymore). Reading were shit last season and deserved to go down, simple as.
You are all blinkered Reading fans - I hope you stay up. I agree that Torres is a diver but I still maintain that objectively there were two penalties that should have been given to Liverpool in this game- and I hate them.
We were so much better then !!! INFACT the league was better then. This year the Prem is shyte and reading are mid table championship side that may even survive the prem... Man U have the worst team for years and are walking it.... hope next year there is improvement!

is this possible the best result at the mad stad because at 1-1 a thought liverpool would take it up a gear and dominate the game from there on
Doyle and Kitson. Best partnership we ever had.
Clem Fandango aluko and oliveria for
This season 😉
We didn't sign Oliveria.
SunSpire that’s the joke

We don't need strikers we Stam in charge. The ball hardly ever gets over the half-way line. :(

I still reminisce over James Harper’s goal 😊

Carragher has made an entire career of fouling opponants and getting away with it.
The last few years he been found out and looks very average.
Oh
100% penalty. The challenge may have started outside the area, but the contact which caused the trip was inside.
Sonko now a Hull player too...
Reading should have been allowed to stay in the Premier League just for this!
@thelocker99 he did get the ball on the 2nd one. There wasn't a huge touch but he noticeably moved the ball on

Okay, Just dont start an argument cause we are discussing football...
Jack Hobbs made an appearance for Lincoln City. You know he's good..
i swear reading have never actually lost to liverpool only 100% win rate
A. That's not funny, Cech almost died.
B. They've met several times since.
Get-in Reading! I Mcanuff had scored tonight, after that awesome run. Should have been 3-1 again... maybe more ;)
It's black and amber not gold and black!

Another result like this tomorrow please.
I love Reading
hope hunt comes back to the prem
Lets do this again this year
Reading should have stayed up just for this result.
respect - Man UTD
Reading FC: where are they now?
Should've been one all because 1 not a penalty and 2 not a freekick...some refs.
Liverpool should have had 2 penalties - I am a United fan but fair is fair.
