Funny how the Pre-Bethesda Fallout 3 would have had the player start as a prisoner. You know, the way Bethesda starts all their Elder Scrolls games.

@@LikeAnEpicthat is absolutely why. I can’t tell you how I know that. But I do. It allows you to fully set your own narrative, you can be literally who ever you want, even taking steps in such a way to play good,evil or even passive. That’s why I will love fallout forever. Even when the character had a set past such as fallout new vegas being a courier, like Ulysses, you can be whoever/whatever you want. The only problem I have is not being able to select a race, however the game mechanics behind implementing such a feature would have been absolutely impossible for the time. I have insanely high hopes for the next fallout.

then you play mods like Restoration Project with unavoidable hard encounter (Kaga, your brother) and realize some things were removed for a reason...

It's still not clear if they actually launched them. It certainly was their plan, but the chinese still might have beaten them at that. Which would explain why Mr. House didn't get the platnium chip in time etc.

The film idea of making the overseer cause the war is actually terrible. The idea that there is one big villain misses the entire point of Fallout. The guilt for the war and fall of mankind is collective. Something that spiraled far out of control for everyone involved. Evoking the paranoia of the cold war. The rest of the ideas are. Ok.... Not great.

vault-tec starting the war is literally the message of fallout, that under capitalism and fascism, companies lose all ethics and regard for human life and are willing to do whatever to further their own goals.
I agree, the cause is almost irrelevant because the paranoia had reached boiling point. If whatever caused the war didn't happened it was only a matter of time until something else set it off.
Explaining who was to blame undermines the hopelessness of the apocalypse and sets up an easy way to "fix" it. The point is that "war never changes" so regardless of who's to blame the bombs were going to be dropped.
It's interesting to wonder about what the straw that broke the camels back might have been but if they outright tell us, I think it'd just be unsatisfying

With the selling of the fallout ip it definitely sounds like Interplay regretted selling it and after making some kind of agreement with masthead tried to get the ip back from Bethesda
That Fallout Xtreme game set in Texas, got me to tip my hat, hehe. Weird, yet cool, to hear talk of a Fallout set wholly within my home state.
All told, this brief history of cancelled Fallout games was a fascinating watch. Good work!

Fallout 5 was announced? Last I heard they had no plans for another one any time soon.
It's crazy that Interplay had so many great IP's and successful games, yet the company was apparently so shoddily run that they were hemorrhaging money despite it. I've heard nothing but bad things about the management of Interplay, and I believe it.
There hasn't been an announcement about Fallout 5, just confirmation that it would be the next title in development after the Elder Scrolls 6.
It's vague enough that if they never get around to it, they won't upset their shareholders but exciting enough for die hard fans to make the news cycle and greater a bit of buzz.
I'd say it's probably intended to get fallout fans interested in starfield since that's about to come out.
Given the current pace I wouldn't expect to see Elder scrolls 6 for a couple years at minimum more likely 3-5 depending on the success of starfield.
We might get Fallout 5 at some point in the 2030s if you cross your fingers.

@@winterspartan5803 ik tim cain has said publicly in the past that China launched first, I think they're trying to show that vault tec was clearly willing to end the world for their own gain, but China beat them to the punch and they were caught off guard. After all in the show, Cooper's wife's main priority is keeping her daughter safe, I don't think she would have let her be that far from a vault if they knew when the bombs would drop ahead of time.

I think the premise of extreme from what was in this video seems really cool and I kind of hope Bethesda takes inspiration in some way, maybe in a future game the brotherhood has become worse and is outright evil and the players job using different ally’s is to destroy the brotherhood or if you’re doing an evil playthrough to join the group and wipe out the groups you could support in a normal playthrough

Bos 2 was cancelled, I’d guess Fallout Shelter Online and Fallout 2d20 but then you’d need to include Wasteland Warfare (miniature war game)
Do you have faith in a good adaptation from Amazon?
No.
Amazon is very hit or miss for these things, for each invincible and vox machina, we have things like rings of power or weel of time (didnt watch this one, but fans of the book say the butchered a lot of things).
The thing is, fallout is not dificult to adapt, since each game is mostly a self sustained storie, all they had to do was: keep the feeling and lore of the universe and respect the pre estabilished characters and stories, other than that they are 100% free to create their own stories in that universe, but considering the ego and out right disgust these writters have for any pre estabilished frachise (specially video game ones) you can bet they wint even do this bare minimun thing.

Looks like Norte forgot about Fallout 76 when he called FOBOS the worst Fallout Game. Atleast Brotherhood was a reskin of the fun Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance franchise.

1. Fallout 3 and new Vegas has the same mechanics (so what's you're point)
2. If I remember correctly the game was not well received because of the bugs(which I did not encounter any)and lack of npc (which is what makes fallout great-some random comments that was typed repeatedly)
And 3. Games always update to make the game better (all games do this )(which is why fallout 76 has been well received for 3 years now)

And Bethesda has also followed the same path as Interplay.
They created an online MMO that is quite disappointing, they have bamboozled their fans with false promises of cool stuff if you give them money before launch.
And they have little plan to start Fallout 5 until Starfield, Starfield dlc, Starfield 2, then Elder Scrolls 6 will *start* production concepts.
Then after Elder Scrolls 6, then they *might* start Fallout 5.
Which will be sometime in late 2030 to early 2040.

Yeah, I would say that Bethesda has survived long enough to go from being a hero--with Fallout 3, sort of New Vegas, and then 4--to becoming a money-grubing villain.
Now that Microsoft owns Bethesda, and thus the Fallout IP they may make Bethesda give the IP over to another of the game companies Microsoft owns in order to keep that franchise relevant.

Bro ES 6 enters full production after Starfield releases. Preproduction is already done most likely. Sure itll probably be a few years away and then some more before F5 but 2040 to 2050 is really pushing it.
