I dig the covers. But the writing I don't know if I could do that. That is alot for my taste but still looks good color wise.
Yeah. I agree with the writing. I mainly wanted to order these for the video to review for others and see if they’re actually good quality. If i decide to keep them on the bike, I’ll probably have them powder coated in the same gold color and 86 the writing.

Yeah. Not a huge fan of the lettering all over it. But I was willing to take the $100 risk on the two covers. They’re definitely worth the price tag. No flaws and they’re built well. Glad this video helped you 🤘🏻

@@WyomingBagger that’s the way to go. If I had a local powder coat guy. I would do the same thing down the road. Even the cost of powder coating every single cover, you’re still saving hundreds of dollars by getting these and not the other combo for $800+
I've been looking at these products. Same here on the lettering, i wonder if you unbolt the ring holding the plastic cover and flip it over?
It won’t work that way. It’s machined to be a perfect fit on how it comes from the manufacturer. The only way to rid it of the lettering is to paint over it. Which is still much cheaper than buying the $300-$400 cover from the other companies

I have yeah. That’s where I ordered the derby cover and the trans cover. They’re sending me their cam chest clear window cover and their shifter linkage.

A buddy of mine has been running that derby cover for about 6 months now. It looks like it is starting to discolor
Could also be riding conditions. Where he’s located. Humidity. Temps Etc. All paint tends to discolor over time. Especially with constant heat. But even if I bought 5 of these. Would still be cheaper than one of the competitors.
My derby cover & cam cover is discolored now but like Gimp said I just bought 2 more of them & still saved $$$$
That's some serious marketing text. Reminds me of a knock-off of an '80s Casio watch. It looks as though it was dreamed up by someone whose first language is not English.
lol it’s definitely noticeable at first. But the inner ring where the writing is comes off. Can easily have it painted and still be at a fraction of the cost of the competitors. The machining quality is really nice. The writing is definitely the biggest negative of it
The text might come off the anodizing without damage.
@hizacaine how would you suggest it is removed? A method to use to remove it?
Start with finding an agent (solvent or stripper) that doesn't damage the anodizing. Try it someplace on the back where it won't be seen. Only after you are sure it doesn't damage the anodizing can you move to the visible part. Use a tiny, tiny brush and work slowly, think like an art restorer working on something valuable. No sand paper or anything gritty, no scraping with metal tools. Finding out what type of paint is going to be very helpful.

Whatever works for you, that’s the way to go. 🤘🏻 only reason I bought these cheaper alternatives, is for those those that are on a tight budget but want to change up the looks of their bike and they weren’t sure on the quality of these. Just testing them out for science lol.
That is not a bad thing, truth be told the lettering would be nice, if it gold and part of the design. Instead it's something clumsy that some jackass from the marketing department decided would help everybody know from a hundred feet away that he 'designed it'. The way any sane manufacture would do it is machine it, polish and clean it, anodize it and then highlight the text with the worlds most excessive branding exercise. There is a chance that somebody decided to mill or etch the text as an afterthought, which would leave raw aluminum under the blinding white paint and that would be a bad thing to discover after you scrape off all the paint. This is exactly why you need to do this like restorer and only remove a tiny tiny little dot to make sure that the lettering was machined in before anodizing. A tiny hole can be filled back in with white, but if you need to refill a whole letter then you get to choose a less obnoxious color.
“Performance look” is an oxymoron.
Yeah maybe if you’re solely thinking in terms of operational performance. But the definition of “performance” is…… “the action or process of carrying out or accomplishing an action, task, or function.” Context is key. Cherry-picking a sentence generally doesn’t work out.

So far so good buddy and our temps have been changing up and down drastically. I’ve put 600 miles on the bike in the last couple weeks since adding it on. No leaks. No scuffs. No loose bolts. Seems to be hanging tough 🤘🏻💪🏻
