Holy Crap!!! This is the best cover that truly captures the agony and sadness in this song. Losing a brother in combat...returning to find empty promises of what their future would hold for them...no welcome home parades. What a somber time for those who served.
I'd never heard the words to the song, except for the chorus. Never really cared for it, although I too, was born in the U.S.A. The original came out when I was 24, and now for the first time, I actually love this version of the song. Great job, Ian! Thanks for sharing your talent and skills.
This is the best version ever. The way it is sung makes it clear what the meaning is. Ian Noe is another promising ( probably Scotch Irish ) performer from the great state of Kentucky , where so many greats come from. Need I name them ? Sorry about the KY promotion, but this rendition is great where ever it came from.
Incredible. So poignant, especially today, 9.11.20. So many lives lost in our longest war. Your cover just really hits home on a lot of levels. Thank you.
Saw you with Colter Wall in Memphis. Fantastic show. This is the best rendition I've ever heard of this song. "I had a brother at Khe Sahn. They're still there but he is gone." Fucking killed me.
@@joshmarx5716 had tickets too see Colter last September, show was cancelled, was going to see Ian in June and that got cancelled. At least Ian's show is rescheduled for this December, they are the two best singer-songwriters out there these days.
Love hearing an artist I love cover another artist I love and make it their own! This is a perfect example of a rising tide lifting all ships! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
It's so funny how you can listen to a song a million times but finally hear one lyric. "Got in a little hometown jam, so they put a rifle in my hand." Really beautiful job!
This cover needs to be on your new album ! I’ve been looking forward to your next album forever it seems. Always listen your album every hunting trip around the fire in the backwoods of British Columbia just so ya know ! Never a hunting trip until we listen to you around the fire 👍
Usually the original is the best…. But I’m going to have to say; Ian Noe’s version I like better…. But, of course that’s me. Keep playing and singing Ian. Thank you for the great music you’ve made for us to listen to. 🙂
The chord progression and energetic atmosphere of the original song have been significantly changed to create a melancholic arrangement, which is also wonderful!
Ian, this version of the song blows away the original. Hope you come to Sacramento soon and play this song. This would be an amazing closing song to your set. So awesome!
Bruce's version makes me think of all the amazing things this country has accomplished, this one makes me think of all the terrible things it's endured. Very beautiful.
Caught you in St Paul opening for James McMurtry. Great show, look forward to catching you again! I'm always amazed at the folks who think this is a flag-waving anthem. Thanks for posting it.
I am not a big Springsteen fan - but this song is one of his best compositions - and this cover of it is amazing - much better than the original --- Springsteen's "Ghost of Tom Joad" is also an awesome composition - totally reimagined in an amazing cover by Rage Against the Machine
I always heard how Born in the USA was not a patriotic song, despite how it's always been used and presented. This song brings out the truth in it that I wish Bruce had done to begin with.
I know it's not that complicated, but could someone please tell me the chords he's playing? Looks like capo 4th, but I'm not sure. I'm teaching myself guitar and haven't learned to play by ear yet haha
I love Steve Earle. I was Ian’s Politcal science teacher. We used to talk about how this song was so misunderstood mostly because of the rock beat Springsteen put on it and I remember helping the kids understand it. This version makes me gleam with pride.

It takes the genius of Springsteen to write this touching ballad and Ian Noe to perform it to perfection.
Well said!
Springsteen sucks

So true!
I still have a picture of that woman from Saigon in his arms. Rip Wendy Choi
Simply incredible, what a talent.

Same… song is bittersweet gorgeous in Ian’s rendering

love the Boss, but this is the way this song should of been played- beautiful
Never heard Bruce’s live performance of it at MSG?
Seth Binsted - I have this is way better
Yes.
Fred, totally agree. And I’m a huge Springsteen fan.
I love your version of this song. Best cover of Born in the USA that I've heard. Love your originals too.
I rarely ever comment on anything on TH-cam. This is so amazing I couldn’t help myself. Maybe my favorite cover ever.
Yeah it's straight 🔥
This is my favorite cover of this song. Normally I’m not a huge Springsteen cover fan but this one hits just right.
The best cover of this song I've ever heard
I can't get enough of this!!!! I listen to it over and over
Top job Ian. A cover done in your style, not just a carbon copy like others do. Hats off to you Sir.
Incredible. So poignant, especially today, 9.11.20. So many lives lost in our longest war. Your cover just really hits home on a lot of levels. Thank you.
This cover is absolutely fantastic
Saw you with Colter Wall in Memphis. Fantastic show. This is the best rendition I've ever heard of this song. "I had a brother at Khe Sahn. They're still there but he is gone." Fucking killed me.
That's the part that killed me too, amazing this cover, just wow wow wow.
Wow. Colter Wall and Ian Noe in the same show. That had to be an incredible show

Ian, you do this song justice!💕
Love hearing an artist I love cover another artist I love and make it their own! This is a perfect example of a rising tide lifting all ships! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I hope Bruce Springsteen has seen this because it is terrific! Sam Fender’s cover and this do the song justice!
It's so funny how you can listen to a song a million times but finally hear one lyric. "Got in a little hometown jam, so they put a rifle in my hand." Really beautiful job!
“Got a letter in the mail, go to war or go to jail” was a real thing.
Feeling the same way, listened to this in the depths of depression a few years back, could relate even if the wars weren’t the same

Beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful!!
My God, what a cover!
Saw him perform this in Columbus, frickin amazing.
Pure magic!
Lucky enough to see Ian supporting Colter Wall recently, tremendous musician... All the very best for the future.
Paul O'Connor is ian opening for colter for the entire tour?
Yes I believe so, I'll be looking for an opportunity to catch him again for sure.
Awesome version!!

Caught you in St Paul opening for James McMurtry. Great show, look forward to catching you again! I'm always amazed at the folks who think this is a flag-waving anthem. Thanks for posting it.
Flag waving? Did they hear the part about sending him to shoot the 'yellow man'?
Unreal
This is the music I try to tell people about, don't stop my brother
The extra beat in at the beginning of each verse really throws me off when trying to play this but is somehow works? So good
Incredible cover!
Call me crazy but I like it much better than the original
Hi, Crazy.... Nice to meet ya, I'm Crazy too!
I'm also Crazy nice to meet you
Amazing cover I am blown away by your talent I would love to hear you cover, Atlantic city by "the Band"

My mind is replacing the backing vocals with Emmylou Harris on the fly. Hope you can record with her one day!
Uma mistura de noltagia e esperança invadiu meu coração.
Ian I heard your music on Momoa’s Instagram and love it. Very soulful! #kyborn
Ficou muito bom o cover , Já ouvi várias vezes.
Meus Parabéns aqui do Brasil
Reginaldo Santos muito bom
For everyone who has seen this performance , please do your best.
WTF?! This is amazing..
The redpill is that Bruce Springsteen was singing sad and based songs in a way that sounded like standard stadium music
Well this does not happen often but that is better than the original version. The delivery tells the story of the song much more clearly.
Brilliant ! what chords are you playing? Your vocal inflections are perfect.
I would like to know the chords too and capo placement. I can't tell what fret it's on. Thanks! Great job BTW!!
Set to tune of Atlantic City. Very cool.
Thanks Ian, u fuckin killed this one. Awesome job!!!!!! Love ya buddy keep pickin, uve saved my life
Wow

Add the band's cover of atlantic city to that
I always heard how Born in the USA was not a patriotic song, despite how it's always been used and presented. This song brings out the truth in it that I wish Bruce had done to begin with.
I am English and this makes me want to be American❤
I know it's not that complicated, but could someone please tell me the chords he's playing? Looks like capo 4th, but I'm not sure. I'm teaching myself guitar and haven't learned to play by ear yet haha
Capo 5 back and forth from Am to C. Kinda does a roll between them
PLEASE READ THIS! I would love to know the tabs or if anyone knows what string he hits between the Am and Cmaj please let me know.
Sounds like a g-chord
Do a cover of Atlantic city
Take heed, my friend.Take heed.
This is how this song was meant to be played
don't do no one but you that's all we need
Really. The kid hit a Homerun here.
At the end of this video, he is listening to his demo, music, SOMETHING! Anywho, wonder what it was lol…….
What chords are being used
Anybody know the hammer-ons he’s doing here
The harrowing moment when he sings "they sent me off"
Great fucking music keep on keep in on
Really sounds like something Steve Earle would have written but I guess Springsteen did it first.
I love Steve Earle. I was Ian’s Politcal science teacher. We used to talk about how this song was so misunderstood mostly because of the rock beat Springsteen put on it and I remember helping the kids understand it. This version makes me gleam with pride.
