Man, I love your car . And don't just say "it will get you from point A to B" .... that car will get u anywhere. Just bought my 2021 WRX Limited CVT less than a month ago... haven't modified much. But even like that, it gets a lot of attention and love from other car enthusiasts and subie owners. just bought an axle back exhaust (no muffler) from subimods. I'm excited !
I just traded in my 17 WRX manual because I live in a city area and just got tired of clutch/gas/shift/ clutch/stop etc. I'm looking at getting one with a CVT. Love having a WRX though.
@@AlexGuerreroFilms Thats really all I want. A cool daily driver. I'm a big Subaru enthusiast, I own a 17 Forester but really want a simple way to drive a WRX. I don't even plan to mod it.
I was thinkn of swapping my cvt for a manual trans as well but for all the money it's going to take to get it on point I rather just keep it till end of the year then trade it in and get something that's worth that money.. clean car for a daily for sure 🤘
@@demarsh480 that's on you bro I actually like this car for a little daily but it doesn't do it for me when it comes to making power witch is why I'm going back to a camaro ss or zl1.. im just used to v8 power and torque lol
@@demarsh480 if your comfortable with driving stick and it’s not an inconvenience, I would def get the manual. Especially if you are looking to add power. The cvt can only handle a little more power and you cant really upgrade it. Manual is the complete opposite. If your keeping it stock, I’d say keep it but if not then that’s up to what your planning on doing. My cvt has 66k miles and I’m on stage one. It’s plenty fun but it would have been nice to be able to safely add more it I wanted to.
@Ideen Pira I decided to wait a little bit because of my extended warranty but I feel that it does make the car feel more alive. You won’t get much out of the stage 1 tune Cobb gives you so I recommend getting a professional tune or going through a respected e-tune company. Like he said, he has a tune from brentuning which is probably one of the best for our cars. They take data from your individual car and make changes based on what you have. I’d say it’s worth it but do not go stage 1 if you plan on keeping your warranty because it will unfortunately be voided when you use the tune. It’s a gamble but I’m at 66k miles and never had an issue. Stage one is fairly tame so you don’t really have to worry but as always if you do, treat the car correctly and you won’t run into issues. Sorry that this is really long lol, hope this helped.
I understand the 6MT version of the WRX is very common in the US, but in my country (New Zealand) only the STI is available in manual. I'm wanting to buy a WRX, so I'm seriously considering buying the CVT model. Doesn't sound bad at all!
ay you from nz to bro? haha same man im looking at buying a 2015 wrx cvt as well haha. Was thinking of buying a v7/v8 wrx manual but its definitely not practical for me especially for city driving.. done my fair share of gear changing up down up down.
You can't even put thr car into sports plus without it warming up. Only thing I don't like the turbo does take a little time to kick in. Vs my camaro I had it was instant. Still overall love the subie
Convenient for sure, but not to make power at all. CVT bottlenecks these cars big time the most you can do is stage 2 and that's pushing the transmission. Manual can handle a lot of beating and it's surely the bulletproof option and can be built if needed for high end stage 3 modifications. I suggest if someone wants an auto to go with a GTI with a DSG, a transmission that's meant to handle modifications and can be built past 500whp, although I still would prefer manual for the driving experience and engagement.
I’m at 24k miles on mine and waiting to get to 36k when the warranty is up to start modding. What are some good starter mods on the cheaper side around $700 or less to make the car really fun, I’m already looking at axle backs.
Axle back will definitely make it funner you could also do ets intake so you can hear your turbo flutter no tune need for that intake as ets states in their website.
Hey man, I just found your channel and had so many questions about mods and Cobb tuning a CVT, I’m actually surprised to find your video, cause there’s not many on automatic WRX’s but the only other question, do you think this is possible in a 2020/2021 WRX?
Planning on going the CVT route on a2018, and from WA as well :) Currently live in Portland, OR but moving back soon to the good 'ol Tri-Cities. But love this little build you got going!
For you I’ll just run the set up I had that was a extreme catback boomba bpv Cobb intake and e tune from brentuning and I added a cvt cooler but that’s about it
@@AlexGuerreroFilms Nice! Appreciate the response, I’m getting a wrx cvt soon and I just figuring out what we be the best build or ideas, to add power without messing anything up

As a WRX CVT owner the sport and sport# mode fake gear but is not as similar cause the car shift fake gears way too fast in my opinion.. Its still fun to drive tho but not as fun as DCT with a real gearbox.
@@anweshkatragadda6867 I’m 16 and yes i got the cvt wrx but imma change it and get a stick probably in august. And the car is really fun you can feel the power just like in manual one
@AlexGuerrero I'm curious as well about the bottom break light that actually has a section for backup light please share the link. Thanks buddy and i own a 2018 Premium CVT same color and i love it. Got it with 38k miles have 48k now 5 months later.
Just got my 2017 WRX last week, i can’t find any blacked out front and rear Subaru emblems + I’m looking for some sort of carbon fibre steering wheel trim pieces. Can anyone help ? Or any recommended links for trim pieces
You can just email brentuning.com and they can answer all your questions plus they respond to you fast via email but I believe they’re just in a different time zone but I would email them tomorrow if I were you super easy👌🏼
So I just ordered a AP from brentuning and plus add burble with it. So your telling me that I don’t need any type of other tune like an e tune to run it? And I can just flash it on there and we good to go?
No I think you need to email them saying you bought the AP from them and that you bought the burble tune too so that they can add it to your stage 1 from Cobb And then they’ll tell you what to do I don’t remember exactly how I did it bc it was a while ago shouldnt be hard tho
