Thanks for the video. I have a banjolele which I think is very old although it has no name nor markings anywhere. Is there a website I can upload a photo to try to age the instrument?
If you like banjolele you can begin just with it, no need of uke :) but try both instruments if you can, and different sizes to see which one fits you best. Sorry if I made mistakes, English isn't my first language 😅
hi I love banjo but just couldn't get on with the weight and neck length. so i bought a deering banjolele. Do i have to tune it like a uke or is there a tuning more like a Banjo
@@emoryschley5546 so it wouldn't work to tune it DGBD like the 4 strings of a banjo? Or, plectrum or Chicago tuning? If I use uke tuning would it sound ok with low G I appreciate your feedback.
〰🎼I became insane again trying to suffer through my performance on a minstrel banjo video that I had to go back so something fun and happy. With this frame of mind, I found this (your) TH-cam. I was just looking for tuning notes for my little Kala Resonator banjolele but got much much more. Hope to see you someday. Are you in Brooklyn?
Thanks for pointing out the loud and obnoxious history without mentioning George Formby! :-) For any absolute newcomers actually wanting a how-to... If tuned in the current standard gcea tuning, the basic "G" chord shape he demonstrates is fretted 0232. (The 0 means play the "fourth" string, closest to your thumb, unfretted or "open.") The basic one-four-five he mentions, G, C, D7, are shown below (among others) if I didn't type any numbers wrong. "G" chord 0232 "G7" chord 0212 "C" chord 0003 "C7" chord 0001 'D7" chord 2020 -- -- or 2223 "D" chord 2220 -- -- or 2225 "G7" chord 0212 "F" chord 2010 Advanced: Notice the relationship of these four: "A" chord 2100 "Bb" chord 3211 "B" chord 4322 "C" chord 5433 Diminished chords, which he uses at one point in the demo, are this shape and can move to any fret, repeating the same notes in a different order every four frets. It's ragtime magic! 0101 (G C# E Bb) 1212 (G# D F B) 2323 (A D# F# C) 3434 (Bb E G C#) In the 1920s, uke tuning was often one note higher (A D F# B) , so playing in C was harder for beginners (see the Bb chord above). But C is the usual beginner key for learning to read music, since it has no sharps or flats, and is played on just the white keys on a piano. So it is easy to see how the uke gCEA tuning took over. Some banjo uke players think the tone is not bright ("loud and obnoxious"?) enough unless they use the higher tuning. Or maybe they just like to play in the keys of D and A more than C and G, like some fiddlers and 5-string banjo players. Or they like to play in E like blues guitar players. However, the demand for banjo ukuleles in blues sessions is rather low.
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else wants to discover how to learn ukulele try Panlarko Amazing Uke Planner (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my colleague got amazing success with it.

Thank you! I know what I want for Christmas now!

Hi there. which customer has build this and which model is it? Sounds great.
If I've never played an instrument, can i start with a banjolele, or should i start with a regular ukulele?
If you like banjolele you can begin just with it, no need of uke :) but try both instruments if you can, and different sizes to see which one fits you best. Sorry if I made mistakes, English isn't my first language 😅

A banjolele is tuned just like a standard ukulele, G-C-E-A

I appreciate your feedback.
I have just bought a Vangoa banjolele as a complete beginner to the instrument. Where should I position the floating bridge?
Great tutorial

"G" chord 0232
"G7" chord 0212
"C" chord 0003
"C7" chord 0001
'D7" chord 2020
-- -- or 2223
"D" chord 2220
-- -- or 2225
"G7" chord 0212
"F" chord 2010
Advanced: Notice the relationship of these four:
"A" chord 2100
"Bb" chord 3211
"B" chord 4322
"C" chord 5433
Diminished chords, which he uses at one point in the demo, are this shape and can move to any fret, repeating the same notes in a different order every four frets. It's ragtime magic!
0101 (G C# E Bb)
1212 (G# D F B)
2323 (A D# F# C)
3434 (Bb E G C#)
In the 1920s, uke tuning was often one note higher (A D F# B) , so playing in C was harder for beginners (see the Bb chord above). But C is the usual beginner key for learning to read music, since it has no sharps or flats, and is played on just the white keys on a piano. So it is easy to see how the uke gCEA tuning took over.

Love the Banjo Uke....my next purchase.....any recommendations that don't break the bank?
Just got a Kamise banjolele from Amazon. Awesome build quality for $85. Can’t put it down.
There's something about this that is very "new orleans".....
