For those who want to research the killers but forgot their names: *•Ted Bundy•* *•Jeffrey Dahmer•* *•Aileen Wuornos•* *•Edmund Kemper•* *•Richard Kulinski, AKA The Iceman•* *•Rodney Alcala•*
On a serious note, what happened to serial killers? Either they're as widespread as they always have been and the media just isn't covering it or they've dropped remarkably because the most violent criminals you hear about these days are one time Terrorists and School Shooters. What happened, culturally, to cause that shift from prolific almost careerists in murder like Bundy, Dahmer and Gacy to School Shootings and Trucks of Peace?
I feel like maybe because there is so much crime it is hard to single one out and for them to become truly notorious and very well known. Idk though. Where I live there is currently a court case about this group of family and friends of serial killers that killed 11 people. The one lady was a teacher even and they part of a church group against Satanism but they were actually satanic. So there must still be cases like that but because there is so much other news it is hard to focus on one specific killer. That is interesting though because you rarely hear about stuff like that they.
I do think the media has a lot to do with it. A muslim kills 1 person or even 0 sometimes and they make national news as a terrorist whereas if a potential serial killer kills a victim but gets caught before it is multiple it barely makes local news. I'm from Manchester and I know someone who got stabbed and killed quite close to my house randomly (not gang related) and it only made the north west news however recently at victoria station a Muslim man stabbed and injured but not fatally 2 people and it was on National news for about a week.
Street cameras, phones, forensics, knowledge and understanding etc has enabled the authorities to catch people much easier. It’s just too hard for a person to get away with multiple murders without meticulous planning and set up. Even with that, it’d had to be flawless execution each time.
what creeps me out is that i knew about every single killer they talked about, i think i have to stop watching crime docs and go for something more upbeat 😂
They called him the iceman because he used to put people in the freezer for a while (after he’d killed them) before dumping the body, to throw police off of the time of death.
Yeah he claimed to have found god and blamed it all on True Detective magazine and Playboy. Said their naughty pics made him a psycho-killer. Funny thing is True Detective was a soft core gore porn mag that Ann Rule used to write stories for when she met Bundy at the suicide prevention line they volunteered at. Tbh I think he was just getting a dig in at her for writing "The Killer Beside Me" and becoming a millionaire off knowing him.
Ted Bundy Jeffrey Dahmer Dennis Raider Dennis Nielsen Peter Sutcliffe Fred and Rose West Ian Brady and Myra Hindley Dr Harold Shipman Ed Gein Gary Ridgway John Christie Richard Ramirez John Wayne Gacy Peter Tobin Ed Kemper Are my personal favourite serial killers.
I read a book about the Ice Man and what he did was BRUTAL! To his victims and his family (emotionally) it was such an interesting read! I'm glad someone else actually knows who he is
watch the series “mindhunters” on netflix, it’s a fictional series and portrays Ed Kemper very very very well its amazing how accurate they portrayed his character.
I agree. There's no need to have any issue with Zac Efron playing Ted Bundy? He was a 'hot', charismatic guy for the time, who was incredibly smart and new how to work a crowd and the judges. There's literally no need to complain. It's not a romanticised character, its how it was.
That's not why they called him the Ice Man, they called him it because he use to freeze the bodys so it became hard to tell how long the body had been dead.
In terms of the new Ted Bundy film, I agree with what you are saying on him being a charismatic, handsome, hyper intelligent man. His story is absolutely outstanding, yet also sickening and brutal. Just my personal opinion is that movies, in terms of an action retelling of his story, should not exist. Documentaries, yes, but not movies. Because I think it makes people dissociate from the reality of it, and that the young women he killed lost their lives. I think it glorifies it, not because it is inaccurate in terms of the person he was, but because people are still watching Zac Efron, in high definition with exciting action music. That's just my view on it; I won't go and see the movie, but I wouldn't stop anyone - he is a fascinating person, but it is to be remembered that he took the lives of multiple innocent women.
Zac Efron is actually a good actor if you can get past the high school musical teeny bopper stuff, I’m not sure it’s a good role to take but I understand it completely- Look at Jared Leto as Lennon’s killer or Christian Bale in American psycho or like they mentioned Charlie Theron and DiCaprio all playing repulsive humans
I think Ted Bundy's charm and all that is pretty overstated. Certainly a part of it, but it's not like he was bowling about seducing everyone in to getting in to cars with him, the dude literally just put casts and slings on his arms and went about with crutches and shit and pretended to be injured to get sympathetic women to help him before just shoving them in to his car, or he broke in in the middle of the night and bludgeoned them in their sleep.
But he didn’t *get* people to go anywhere with him because of charm, he literally lurked around university campuses in the dark pretending to be someone with an injury by wearing a cast or a sling or crutches needing help and then just bludgeoned the women with a tire iron when they got to his car and drove off with the body. There were times when even that didn’t work and people saw through it and just refused. Charm had nothing to do with it.
@@jonathanb1406 it has a lot to do with it, you would not help someone in need if they were really creepy and it was obvious they were faking it, he manipulated people to go with him using his charm to make him seem less suspicious
It’s a very limited scale you’re working from if there is only two stages, one being charming and the other creepy. It is entirely possible, and most of the time likely, to be neither. If I go out right now and see someone on crutches struggling to carry something and then asking me for help, then I will. It doesn’t mean I’ve been charmed by them, there isn’t some push and pull to try and get me to help. It’s just in most peoples good nature to offer a hand to someone who appears to need it for a moment. There’s several instances where Bundy, even trying his usual trick or pretending to be injured and needing help, was just flat out refused it, or people saw right through his act. There’s no charm involved, if it’s anything it’s manipulation, reliant on disarming people by looking feeble and non-threatening and relying on their good nature to get them close enough to bludgeon them, shove them in to his car, and drive off with the body.
He also didn’t avoid being suspicious, for what it’s worth. There were many times he was seen lurking around with a sling or cast on his arm or on crutches and was reported to the police as having been seen around the time many of the people that were killed were taken. He himself was also personally reported by name to the police as a possible suspect. He benefitted from being around I’m a team even there wasn’t DNA profiling or the means to sufficiently track him.
I don’t know about the movie cause I haven’t seen it but I know why people disliked the ted bundy tapes because everyone I know that’s seen them including myself ended up feeling bad for him. They were done in such a way that actually makes you like him which is not the way it should be.
I have one: the weeping killer. That fucks me uo. He killed women but he’d phone 911 and cry and tell them what he did and where to find the bodies and one night got beat up cause he got caught and he got arrested because the operator knew his voice. But the phone calls are fucked up and eerie.

They called him the ice man because he froze the bodies so the police couldn’t determine when the victim died
And it's how he got caught because one of the bodies was found before it had fully defrosted.
@@whyyoumakemedothis that’s not true. They caught him trying to by cyanide from an undercover police officer. Do your research mate.

King Edward "Longshanks" I, Hammer of the Scots, Lord of Wales and King of England Times move on. Easier to catch people with DNA and all that🤷🏽♂️
Potential Seriel killers are probably caught after their first murder due to better forensics.

He was called the Iceman Becoz he froze a body and when they found it 2 years later there as ice in the guys heart and stomach
Half right, he was called it cause he froze the bodies so the time of death couldn't be determined
Aidan Dunnigan yes I know but after 2 years a body was found with ice all around the heart and icicles in the stomach
