There's nothing that turns me away more from a podcast than when theres too many interruptions from the hosts. Its especially true when the interruptions are for comical/non subject related reasons.Let the guests tell their story cause afterall that's why you invited them, right?? Also the same holds true regardless of whether the particular interview talked about an op/mission that involved the host. I don't like to compare one person to another, but this is one of the primary reasons why Shawn Ryan & his podcast is so popular and at the top of his/its game.Eventhough you should do your own thing, take some lessons and use criticism/feedback to make your podcast stand out for all the right reasons.
I wasn't a Navy SEAL,but I done my time as a nuclear missile tech on SSBN subs in the 90's,so I always root for every Navy SEAL to succeed with their podcast and other ventures. We're all aware by now from social media and the press of just how tough & a special breed of individual each & every one of them are,so they're very deserving of every bit of support we can give them by supporting their podcasts regardless of what position it's in rating wise.
Team Never Quit ain't Shawn Ryan so you're just gonna have to get over that. She has just as much right to speak as Marcus does. She IS Team Never Quit. Don't ever forget that. You think Marcus would respond kindly to you saying his wife needs to shut up? Probably not. Shes just as big a part of this as he is. Maybe you don't understand that. Maybe you don't care. Whatever the case, its a fact.
I was a 2W1 in the Air Force (Aircraft Armament). I got the pleasure of working in a HH-60 unit for 3 years. The pararescue, gunners, flight engineers, and pilots did some amazing things that I got to see. They are some very brave men and women.
I just have to say thank you this is a podcast it brought out an extreme emotion one of the best I’ve watched it was something about Marcus and Spanky and what they feel for each other it’s almost something that can’t be said in words. Anyway great podcast thank you so much for sharing. Again this was one of the best, I have a great feeling about it in my heart. Marcus luttrells story bro this is a podcast it's more of a conversation then story hour Marcus and his wife wanna talk and joke around there probably have tons of questions since Abt other experiences and points of view of his rescue
All respect to the lady there, but damm when you keep interrupting you stop the flow of the story. Who knows what we missed because he kept getting sidetracked. I was extremely interested in hearing from the people that were there.
I agree her interruptions were annoying, Marcus's sudden interjections disrupted Spanky's account and I know it was unintentional but my point is all of this was either done by the seat of their pants basically an open discussion without any structure other than hey Spanky we want you to come on here and tell your story and we'll ask questions and Marcus will add to it...Who knows? Bottom line is it was a really cool story to finally hear from Spanky and I personally feel like this should have been handled the way Joe Rogan approaches a group interview. You got one person leading the show handles the introduction, has some pre-planned questions to help spark the memories and get things flowing and keep it alive throughout. All interviews have structure, if you have two people recounting their personal experience of an event then it's critical for those involved to have a role or and understanding of what we're hoping to achieve here and here's what we want each one of you to keep in mind while we do this... Basically Spanky is the main focus, we want his story and his wife may add in when she feels necessary and we will have some questions prepared or randomly directed to her relative to the discussion as it forms or whatever the case may be but for Marcus and his wife to be back and forth on the questions and thoughts or quick bits of memories etc, is what distracted the flow of what ended up being a really good show and story just next time utilize some structure and try to stick with it otherwise it's a live feed of an informal dinner table chat of collective memories around a specific event. I really enjoyed their chemistry and the connection they have and further realized as they navigated through such a complex and unbelievable story of stories. The realization and comprehension of the facts revealing hundreds of individuals and their unique roles and contributions through this whole experience is remarkable as you can see and feel these individuals still struggling to comprehend the massive impact that all of this has created upon the US and even globally! The unpredictable and unimaginable positive outcomes that continue to arise are the fruits of the many sacrifices made before during and after this mission and I thank God for it as it continues to strengthen and honor the legacy of those who paid with their lives. In the end, this is our most important mission...we must never forget their sacrifice and live a life worthy of their cost.
Heroes have spouses. So did The Beatles. Yoko and Linda. They have their stories too. They kept the Homefront going. My Dad was an Army lifer 1944-1966. Mom raised five of us. They were both heroes who made tremendous sacrifices and endured dangers. Some spouses are more chatty than others, both did their parts. Production is lacking, but this is real, I mean really real.

I love Marcus and Spanky for their service, great overall podcast but the lady just interrupted way to much. Sometimes 2-3-4x when Spanky was in mid sentence. You let the person being interviewed talk and every so often ask questions. Let Marcus do the talking, the stuff she was saying like "most people think Afghanistan is a flat desert" no most people do not think that at all. Maybe I'm being harsh but she hurt the interview more than helped it. I just wanted to hear the story without interruptions unless Marcus wanted to shed some light on something.

I understand that she is probably trying to explain things in terms civillians can understand. However I believe if you are watching this there is a good chance you are either ex-/current military or someone who knows alot about tye armed services. So while I appreciate her efforts, I think its for not..
Yeah I mean every once and a while wouldn't be so bad but to this day she still does the same thing, and it's just obnoxious at this point... also it really seems like she only got with him because of his fame and service.
I agree. Got tired of listening to her. She acted like she was actually there.
Yea well she is Jamie st trying to get answers for the people that don't know certain things
ma'am... just.. ma'am.. im losing focus, im getting frustrated a little. Just let the man speak. pjs and what ever, "just real quick" can wait when a man like that is telling stories.. Some people act differently, want to ask questions, and it can be out of thoughtfulness for the unknown viewer, but we arent there. no one knows the 27k people. All these views come in over time. But Jeff was right there. It just feels like the respect was not directed to where the respect was due. No harm or hate, just feed back for a smoother time, my thanks for Jeffs wife in this.
Anyway, these guys are so awesome to listen to.
Thank you Marcus, for sharing this story with us. Honestly, I can't get enough of it ! Thank you "Spanky" for being there, and getting Marcus off the mountain, and back with us so we could get this story. "Spanky" , I am, in an 18 wheeler, the way you are in a helo !! Thank you both for your service and dedication !! ❤❤❤
I wish we could hear all the other guys talk about what it was like to go find Marcus! The more we hear about the story the better
I love hearing his story from different perspectives I check the channel daily to see if there is something new to listen to I love the motivation that this channel gives.
All the respect for these men the truth is you guys and what you do all over the world carrying the USA 🇺🇸 flag gives me the deep pride I have for our country
I’m thrilled “Spanky” and Marcus got to reconnect!! 👏👏👏 thank you “Spanky” for getting M out of there!! And as always thx Marcus!!
What an incredible story I’m sure. Just wish Spanky didn’t get interrupted so much. I stopped watching about 30 minutes in because of it.
There was a movie about a Vietnam Pararescue Jumper William Pitsenbarger who received the Medal of Honor. His story is pretty incredible.
Wow! I am so thankful and honored to hear about real heroes. I have read Lone Survivor soooo many times, and I am always inspired. Thank you, Marcus and Jeff! Hooyah!
THE most interesting portions of the rescue ive heard. AWESOME JOB SPANKY! Thanks for your many years of service.
You not only is this incredible but did you watch only videos of Marcus to now he is so different like in a healing type way which is also incredible. Marcus, never let us forget the heroism that operation red wing and operation red wing II displayed
Love hearing and watching both stories and having them all come together…I am so grateful for what they do..
Amazing stories. The first time meeting seal team was on a port on bay of Fonseca honduras 1983. Unexpected and scared the crap out of me.
Was assigned to a soc (intel asset) on defence depot ogden 84 to 89 and lived in Roy and Huntsville. Had 3- army 18D on our team. You are simply an American hero and cannot express my honor to simply experience your story through your words. Those Helo pilot's from all services are also my heros. Flew many missions in my service and can only say thanks for all your service to us and our country.
Had this only involved those 2 guys, without interruption from other people (especially his wife) it could've been really good.
Let the men with the experience talk lady!!!
100
Dude when marcus said " oh were you tired? You had a long day" i died laughing
I love all the podcasts, and have listened to some a couple times. There was just something about this one, listened 2x this week already. Thank God there are men and women like both Marcus and Spanky that put on the uniform. Incredible back story!
I could listen to all of you forever!!!! THANK YOU BOTH FOR THE LIFE WE HAVE BECAUSE OF MEN LIKE YOU BOTH!!!!!!
From the start to Spanky putting that bird on the ledge this was a miraculous rescue! So many players so many heroes!! God bless to all of you guys! Ex army here Hooo Rahhhhh
Please let Spanky talk. Please. He is the star of this show. Leave him the hell alone.
I agree when he said, helicopters are pretty awesome. I was helicoptered from a car accident to a trauma hospital. Helicopters rock!
The PJ Marcus is thinking about is Jason Cunningham( 38th Rescue Squadron), I met him in his pipeline because the Discovery channel filmed his whole pipeline, Chapman was a CCT, a Combat Controller...The Battle of Takur Ghar.
Shawn almost doesn’t talk except to catch a point for clarification
Thank you for sharing your inspirational story with us it was great to listen too. I also thank you gentlemen for your Service and sacrifices.
Thanks Marcus for all you gave for our country and Spanky thank you from the bottom of my heart the Air Force holds a place in my heart, my brother was in the Air Force in Korea❤ Melanie and Mrs. Spanky?, I forgot her name I’m sorry, but thank you both for being there for your husbands through thick and thin.
Gosh would you quit interrupting the dudes story… 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Marcus luttrells story bro this is a podcast it's more of a conversation then story hour Marcus and his wife wanna talk and joke around there probably have tons of questions since Abt other experiences and points of view of his rescue
All respect to the lady there, but damm when you keep interrupting you stop the flow of the story. Who knows what we missed because he kept getting sidetracked. I was extremely interested in hearing from the people that were there.
Yeah, it’s hard to listen to
Ya that girl was really annoying.
@@juddblaney9320 "that girl" is Marcus's wife you ding dong
@@Michael-ft3rc Ya I know that she is. It doesn’t change the concept that her continual interruptions can be very annoying for some people.
It’s amazing how small a world it is, in some circles, and the stories you’ve forgotten, that are a big deal to others involved…
Love that Marcus took over the interview! Just love it!
Keep your comments Rollin Melanie you are GREATNESS IN ACTION ✊🏿✌️☺️
You Marcus and Jeff are heroes beyond belief. And your family now doing this podcasts is outstanding and awesome. I served for 17 years of service and have one tour to OIF3 and other non war places. But thank you brother and thanks to your family for doing this. God bless and Hooaahh!
Please let the man talk... I think we missed a lot of substance from the guy every time he is interrupted
Incredible story 👏 lone survivor is a great film my favourite film actually I'm from Wales 🏴 in the UK 🇬🇧 I would love to meet marcus or for him to come over to the UK and do a few podcasts his story is the best I have ever heard marcus is a gentleman r.i.p to all who lost their lives on operation red wings marcus you are a legend and a hero of mine all the best in the future bro 💜💜💯👍
I truly hope that Marcus and Melanie learn from the comments about their interruptions. Go to interviews where you're the subject and talk all you want, but when you're trying to interview someone else, let them finish a sentence for God's sake! I dearly would have loved to have heard Spanky's story
Nah that aint happening.
This is going to be a great one. Keep it up man.
Absolutely two great men and all the other warriors involved bringing you home.
My Dad was in the Navy (1961-1965) and turned his papers in on a Friday. The following Monday, everyone that was in, was in for Vietnam. My Dad made it by 1 day. He wanted to go, but couldn’t leave Mom and me. Love hearing about your patriotism.
Keeps interrupting the flow 😡 Crazy
God I could barely finish the story smh…
Who
@@stomper2888 4.5 minutes in and I think the answer is the wife.
@@NateGoesOutside oh yah I only watched the first 2 min and got bored marcuss lutrell is my hero but I wish his podcast was just him telling war stories I can only get into him and Joe rogan or just him talking to a crowd
@@stomper2888 100%
I made a scud middle in 5th grade for Valentine’s Day box because my uncle was in desert storm and I wanted to be a soldier ever since then. 13 years later I ended up there.
This is why the USA military is the finest on the planet, but it takes training and money to be that good. Train hard fight easy❤️🇺🇸
Marcus, I haven't read all the posts and perhaps someone may have already mentioned this, But you seriously have to think about working with someone that can do a 10 part mini series that highlight those involved in getting you and your Team Mates off that mountain! There are so many aspects to your rescue that need to be told. God Bless.
Thank you spanky for all that you do and have done ..and Marcus for being able to tell your story ..thank you both so very much ..God bless 🙌
Sorry to say it but yoko is making it almost impossible to listen.
Shame there are too many round the table 😳 Spoiled it for me 😢
Jack Carr on his Danger Close podcast has an interview with Don Bently who is an author now but was on of the Apache pilots for Red Wings. His interview was super emotional cause he was flying shotgun when the Chinook got shotdown
Lt Col Peterson ..freakin stud ...awesome to hear this backstory ..thx marcus
Look Ok on
Thank you both for your service
❤❤❤Thanks .All of you we all have our Rough times America 🇺🇸 ❤
The greatest thing about modern times......in 100 plus years, you will be able to pull these podcasts up, and hear and see the men and women tell the story. No encyclopedias, no library trips. Just search the net. Or what ever is gonna take the place of what we know. God bless everyone that reads my comment. May the Lord be with you in everything you do.
What happens if the power grid is gone?
You also Blake 🙏🇺🇸
That is true, but about 98% of these podcast are bullshit stories. Obviously not this one. Now, you are out of your mind if you think in 100yrs this information will still be at our fingertips. Not gonna happen
I love the fact Marcus is living his life. He has a family
I need more interviews of ppl that were part of that operation!!! I’ve listened to Travis Osborne’s interview 3 times. I’ve listened to this one twice 😂😂 the story is incredible!!! I need it from allllll perspectives 😂
And we love ya'll.
Thank yall so much for what you all do from one boatswain to another. Cheers and MERRY CHRISTMAS
I’m sorry but didn’t tune in to hear this lady interrupting. I want to hear Marcus and spanky.
Golly!! Her timing to interrupt was perfect!! Gosh
This story is the movie that deserves to be made.
'What happened on the mountain", reminds me of Hank Jr's "All in Alabama"
"Mountains got it's own way pilgrim"-Bear Claw Chris Lapp
Melanie needs to be quiet . We tune in to Team Never Quit for soldiers as they share their experiences . She wasted several minutes on trivia.
Can someone timestamp the part where the guest (whom people want to listen to) is able to speak?
Marcus and his wife will not let this man say two words this is embarrassing. Look at Spank's face he looks annoyed. Marcus' mind seems to be, "speeding".
I had the privilege to hitch rides in 60’s that Spanky was often the co-pilot of…he was fun and funny to fly with. Really just a nice fella.
I loved the original group. Mel is fantastic. The wizard and Rutherford. Rutherford has an infectious laugh 😂
Awesome to hear from Spanky on it. Enjoyed when Marcus gave him a little shit when he said he was tired and hungry. Us AF guys like our sleep before we go fly
You guys got the man with the story of how he flew and got you but you guys keep cutting each other off and aren't even asking questions 8 min in everyone is cutting everyone off damn let each other talk
This was Amazing to hear!!! They need to make a movie out of the recuse and call it "popcorn +2"
Have Been waiting for this can’t find a podcast with spanky anywhere about redwing I imagined spanky was playing fortunate son on the Marcus extract
Man, read the book many years ago. “Penny and the boys” really got to me. I want to hug them. 🤗 Shout out from 🏴
I like how Jeff explained some of the dudes as “Cool and the gang!”
Brilliant podcast episode just luttrells wife interrupting spoiled it a tad
One of the greatest stories of all time and she talks and talks and talks and talks. So sad, I’ve waited FOREVER to hear this man’s story and she damn near ruined it.
Right when I get into listening to the guest story. She interrupts him. Hard to stay engaged. I’m sure yall will get it figured out. All the best 👍
Marcus Luttrell is the first guy I’ve ever wished I could be like. My entire childhood dream growing up was to be a navy seal, drugs consumed my life starting at 15 years old for 15 years. In 3 months I’ll be 2 years sober. I imagine what my life could have been like if I was a fraction of the man Marcus is.
Very enlightening podcast. I`ve read the book and seen the movie. Marcus has endured so much pain and shown his faith. Glad y`all made it out. Spanky is underrated. My F-4 squadron in Hawaii had a LT Colonel for a CO. So Spanky was up there.
Great interviewers know when to shut up. Let these men tell their story without chirping in every two seconds.
